REACH PARTNER HIGHLIGHTS Serving in Central and South America
Tim and Lindsey Bayne | Brazil As Brazil is slowly coming out of depths of the second wave of COVID, the Davis Lar continues to be healthy and strong, despite the numerous challenges leadership has faced. We live across the street from the Davis Lar in a community called Araças. We are the Directors of International Outreach at the Davis Lar, a role that makes up about 40% of our time in ministry. Our house is considered "The Mission Post," where we lead international interns and teams, but also build relationships with people in our community to lead them to thirst for Christ and to strengthen their relationship with Him. Our community was completely shut down and the majority of our neighbors were overwhelmed by fear, anxiety, and hunger. The local church plant, where we are on the leadership team, has remained firm in declaring the Gospel and strengthening the small congregation. Through prayer, we have planned to return to our home, The Mission Post, in late July. After we re-adapt for a few months, we'll be focusing on teaching skills and discipling the children of the Davis Lar, building relationships in the community to further the Gospel, working on the leadership team with the local church plant to start a biblical counseling ministry, and organizing international groups, families, and interns to come and serve short term with us. Please pray for us as we prepare for our return to the mission field, right outside of Fortaleza, Brazil, and as we fundraise to cover the financial costs of the relocation. Matt and Nora Vos | The Oasis, Guatemala Dear friends, We want to share with you the story of Maria* and the way God is working in her life. This was written by our good friend Heidi who works as a therapist at Oasis. The average time a child spends in our care is about two years. Some girls are only with us for about 6 months before being restored to family, while others have spent upwards of ten years in institutionalized care. We long for all of our kids to be restored to a biological family member, but knowing that biological family typically isn´t an option for our long-term children, our deepest prayer for them becomes the possibility of a foster family. We plead with God and pray specifically for the families that will present themselves before us and we pray that the Lord would give them the desire of taking home an adolescent. However, statistically, we know all too sadly that the likelihood of an adolescent being chosen for foster care is very unlikely. But that doesn't stop our foster family team from presenting cases of teenagers in need of a family and it definitely doesn't stop our loving God from working miracles. Eight years ago, three girls came into Oasis care, two sisters and their cousin. After learning the details of their story, biological family was immediately removed from future possibility. However, one of the sisters and the cousin aged out of the system during the eight years and went on to become part of Casa Ester, while the youngest continued to grow up within institutionalized care. Maria, who is now 15 years old, saw many staff members and other girls come and go, but never lost hope that one day God would give her a family of her own. Continued... TAYLORSFBC.ORG | 5
For about three years, Maria, and everyone in Maria´s life, prayed for a family to present themselves as an option. At one point, her mentors stepped forward and said they were interested in becoming her foster family. But after they told Maria their hopes, they all but disappeared, leaving Maria heartbroken and confused once again. Sadness has always been hard for her to express, but over time she was able to express how sad and disappointed she was. But God, in His care for His children, in the middle of a pandemic, saw fit to continue working in the life of Maria. This time, another mentor family, who had previously mentored a different set of sisters at Oasis that returned home, began to inquire about the possibility of mentoring and ultimately fostering an adolescent. Their profile matched perfectly with that of Maria´s. The family was given permission to visit Maria on campus and have phone calls. During this time, Maria expressed that she was ready to open her heart to the possibility of family once again. The officiating state-level judge moved up her court date and with great anticipation, the family received their certification to be a foster family. The court case was set to be held the following Tuesday, but with the current week already at the mid-week point, staff hurried to arrange a mandatory home visit to the mentor family's house the next day! There they told her how God had put her on their hearts and that they would like to be her family, if she was interested. The father said, "You can see our house. It isn't big. We don´t have a lot of things or a ton of money, but what we can promise you is an abundance of love. We love you Maria and if you are willing, we would like to provide you a place to live and love and grow." Maria looked at her counselor, as if to confirm all that she was hearing. And when she looked back at the mom and dad and sister sitting before her, she said, "Yes. Yes. Yes. This is what I want." On Tuesday, at her court hearing, Maria shared that she wanted a family of her own and that her mentors were the people she wanted to be her family. The family also shared how they wanted to take Maria home. She walked out of the Zoom court hearing with tears in her eyes and the biggest smile on her face. The judge had not yet made a decision, but she knew that God was answering her heart's desire. Minutes later, the families together, the professional covering the hearing walked into the room where Maria was waiting and said, "Maria, today God has heard your cry. You´re going home with your family." And the light that filled Maria's eyes will not be something forgotten anytime soon. A little girl, abused and neglected by her family, who then had to live in institutional care for more than 8 years, never gave up praying for the family that God had been preparing for her. And now she is at home with them. *Name changed for protection.

WHY JOIN THE CHURCH?
God created us for relationship – relationship with Himself and relationship with other believers. Jesus’ followers went from town to town and always sought a group of believers with whom to identify in biblical community. When you join a church, you are saying, “I belong here...this is my family."
JOINING A CHURCH
According to Romans 12:4-5 “Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.” When one joins a church, a sense of belonging results as we use our spiritual gifts together in order to build up the body of Christ and to bring glory to God. Church membership also provides accountability as we walk alongside one another encouraging each other to be the people God desires us to be. When a brother or sister in Christ stumbles, we are there to encourage and restore. Becoming a church member also enables one to serve within the fellowship. When you become a member of our body at Taylors, you are committing to follow the teachings of our church, have embraced our mission and values, and are coming under the trust and service of our church leadership. Joining our church says, “I commit to use my spiritual gifts to be a part of what God is doing here in this mighty work.” Corinthians 12:7,11 says “Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good…All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines.” The New Testament church is made up of baptized believers who have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. If you have never accepted His forgiveness for your sins, trusted Him alone for salvation, and committed yourself to follow His will for your life, will you consider it today? At the close of each of our services, we have a time when we invite you to share your testimony and request church membership with our team or trained counselors. We accept members... • By public profession of faith and believer’s baptism by immersion. • By statement: you have previously made a faith commitment to Christ as Lord and Savior and have already followed Him in baptism by immersion. • By statement and pending baptism: you have previously made a faith commitment to Christ as Lord and Savior and now wish to follow Him in baptism by immersion. • By letter of transfer of your membership from a Baptist church of like faith and order. • By watch-care. Allows college students to come under the spiritual leadership of Taylors FBC while in the area and remain a member at their home church.
