I recently read my newsletter from last May where I urged our church family to be more intentional with the upcoming summer months. Instead of using the summer as a time to relax and coast, I wrote that we should seize the lazy days of summer as a purposeful time to enrich our walk with Christ and deepen our relationships with others. Here we are again with another change of seasons. The summer months and all that comes with them lie ahead of us. But this year, as we continue our series on Joseph, I'm struck with another thought and that is of Joseph unfairly confined, managing an Egyptian prison year after year as spring turned to summer. My thought turns to being purposeful again, but this time with contentment. Remember, Joseph is seventeen when we see him burst on the scene with his coat of many colors. Young, confident, full of vision with his daddy's unwise favoritism backing him every step of the way. You know the story. The pit, slavery, the move to Egypt, favor with an Egyptian government official only to be lied about and thrown into prison with no end in sight. This story wasn't turning out like the vision and dreams he had as a teenager. This storyline, that lasts thirteen years, could have easily sent Joseph spiraling unless his heart was purposeful about one thing: contentment. Being content is hard to do when the seasons and our culture, families, lifestyles, and most of all, our hearts dictate that we constantly be in motion‌ moving to the next thing. Joseph couldn't go anywhere. He was stuck year after year in circumstances that weren't allowing him to move up or move out. Yet, it was here where God's presence never left him, but rather strengthened his heart to find contentment in Him. This contentment produced an energy to be faithful and a trust that brought rest. It was here, as the seasons passed him by, that Joseph grew strong in the Lord and was being pulled back like an arrow getting ready to be released in God's due time (I Peter 5:8). So, whether you're feeling the pressure to go with the flow of the constant change in seasons or whether you see the months ahead as a time to relax with your feet up for a while, don't forget to be purposeful. Only this time, find your rest in the heart of God who has provided all good and necessary things for your growing in Christ. Find your activity energized by the grace and love of God for you and extend it to others. Wherever you are and whatever circumstances you're in, don't waste your summer, but rather use it to grow deeper in your commitment and contentment as a follower of Jesus. Paul Paul Jimenez, Pastor

PRESCHOOL / CHILDREN / STUDENT MINISTRIES
Taylors Preschool & Children’s Ministries Merge Fall 2013 Our goal for the Preschool and Children's Ministries is to work together in order to provide greater strength to the partnership between the home and the church. The end result of this is stronger families who are deeper disciples for Christ. Due to this desire, we are officially announcing the combining of our Preschool and Children's Ministries into one. We are working on internal changes to make this transition possible this fall. While responsibilities of the current Preschool and Children's staff may be tweaked and adjusted, the whole team is staying intact. Mr. John is still the Minister of Children, Ms. Rhonda is still the Minister of Preschool, and our faithful support staff team is staying with us, just uniting even more than we currently do. As always, if you have questions please do not hesitate to contact us at johna@taylorsfbc.org or rhondam@taylorsfbc.org. We are always here to serve you and your family and come alongside you as a parent to help you raise your children in the ways of the Lord. We are excited about the opportunity we have to serve the families of the Preschool & Children's Ministries here at Taylors FBC and we look forward to what God has in store!

EMPLOYMENT SUPPORT MINISTRY
through
MISSION 1:27
For the last four years, faithful Employment Support Ministry (ESM) leaders have gathered to provide support to over 900 people in our community who have faced unemployment.
Mission 1:27 works to increase awareness of foster care and adoptive needs and to provide support for orphans both locally and globally.
“Looking back at the impact that ESM had on my job hunt, I must share that the three most important things you emphasize are what made a difference for me: My resume, networking, and prayer. Both of the positions offered to me came about through people I had only recently met; they helped me get my resume out in front. The valuable information ESM gave me concerning my resume helped get me the interviews. Bathing the whole process in prayer is what kept my sanity throughout it all, and knowing others were praying for me, too. Please thank everyone at Taylors FBC for me. The ESM was vital to me during a crucial time in my life. I am so grateful for your expertise and your willingness to share your knowledge.” - a recent participant

“Over the past two years, God has truly burdened our hearts for the world's orphans. This has not only manifested into a calling to adopt internationally, but also a desire to serve in Mission 1:27. In our short time as leaders, we have been awestruck by God's work through the people of Taylors FBC to care for orphans. Orphan care takes on many forms and it's amazing to see the unique talents within this church that work together for one mission. We are excited to continue to build relationships within the community with other churches and organizations that have the same heart for God's children. It is our vision for the entire body of Taylors to care for the fatherless as God has commanded us. No matter your age or ability, there is a place for you in Mission 1:27 and we hope you will join us. “ The Orphan Care Group hosted by Mission 1:27 meets on Wednesday nights at 6:30 pm in Room B129. The Taylors Mill
R3 MINISTRIES Taylors TownSquare Initiative
Taylors TownSquare began in October, 2012, in order to develop relationships, build community, and shine the light of Christ into our neighborhood. Alex Reynolds, Taylors FBC staff member, is leading our monthly TownSquare meetings that provide an open forum for people connected to the Taylors and Chick Springs communities to build relationships and work together for the good of our community. Much like in a physical town square, the
Taylors TownSquare meetings seek to provide the space for conversations to happen while affording relevant information to benefit the community as a whole. These meetings have led to many connections between residents, business owners, churches, and government agencies. Organizations such as the Eastside YMCA, the Taylors Fire and Sewer District, owners and artists in the Taylors Mill, and the Academy of Arts regularly attend and have formed various partnerships to meet community needs. Come join the conversation as we seek to know our neighbors and share the love of Christ with our community. Visit http:// taylorstownsquare.com for more information.
Taylors Mill: New Life at the Old Bleachery
The Taylors Mill has new life springing up all around. After closing in 1965 and then passing through various owners, the Taylors Mill, under the ownership of our new friend, Kenneth Walker ((http:// taylorsmillproperties.com/), is quickly becoming a mixed-use haven - a home to artists, sports facilities, commercial packaging companies, machine shops, and much more. Taylors TownSquare meetings have provided a forum for Taylors’ members to develop relationships with the owners of the mill and many of its tenants, including the Taylors Art Group (http://taylorsartgroup.com), Taylors FBC is exploring opportunities to support the thriving arts community in the mill complex. If you are interested in being involved in efforts with the Taylors Art Group, contact Lin Cunningham at linc628@gmail.com.
Join us on Tuesday, June 4, at 7 pm or Wednesday, July 10, at noon. Contact Kaitlyn Ross at kaitlynr@taylorstownsquare.com. Taylors TownSquare meetings generally take place on the first Wednesday at 12 pm or the first Tuesday at 7 pm in the Taylors Ministry Center.
An R3 Story By Gilbert Rivers
One recent Monday, the church office called me about cut wood that a member offered to R3 Ministries. Knowing this wood would be valuable to our homeless neighbors, I stopped and picked up one of our homeless friends to help collect and deliver the wood to his home site. As we were unloading the wood, a man and woman walking down Wade Hampton Boulevard approached us, introduced themselves, and asked for help. The man explained that he and his girlfriend had just moved to the area and were expecting a baby. He was unemployed and trying to find work, and the couple had used all of their money on rent, power, and water with no money left for food. While we unloaded the wood together, my friend asked the young man if there was anything the couple needed at the moment and proceeded to offer suggestions and resources to help the couple. My friend then invited the couple to stay and eat with him and his wife at their home site along Wade Hampton. He turned to me and said, "Now you see how R3 works!” What a beautiful picture of 2 Corinthians 1:3-4! “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.” For more information or to get involved in our community through any of these ministries, contact hopenet@taylorsfbc.org. WOMEN'S MINISTRY
Coming This Fall A Bible Study for all Women of Taylors FBC
With an abundance of mixed messages about womanhood, some secular and worldly and yet often times biblically worthy, it seems we are more confused than ever about our place and value! Do you ever wonder if there is anyone who truly understands your life as a female? Do you struggle to connect or find your place in this complicated world? It is easy to become overwhelmed with “measuring up” to a giant and often skewed perception of God’s heart for us. Women's Ministry is excited to invite all the women of Taylors to come together to for an intergenerational study on womanhood. This fall we will study Ezer, a book designed to lead us through a discussion of God's heart for women and our tremendous calling and purpose. This study will unwrap His will for us and teach us to live free of feeling unworthy. Our desire is to see women united, encouraged and strengthened in all their relationships as we learn God's intentional design for us! All Bibles studies, including Mom to Mom and Encounter, will join together for this eight week study to learn, laugh and experience life change together. Free childcare will be offered on Wednesday morning and evenings. This study will also be offered on Monday evenings. Look for more details coming in August! Taylors FBC members may begin online registration mid-August.

LEADERSHIP
The Habits of a Healthy Life Group Healthy Life Groups celebrate what God is doing among them. I have the privilege of hearing many God stories, and hope you see our God at work in our church! Celebrate what God is doing in your group. Throw a party and have one thing on the agenda… Tell stories! Celebrate what God has done, what He is doing, and what He could do. Try it out: Take a Sunday evening and throw a Life Group party. Form a circle and celebrate by sharing what the Lord is doing.
I love walking into a Life Group where every person is being loved on. Healthy Life Groups love every person. They notice when someone walks in for the very first time, as well as when they don’t show up. Healthy Life Groups meet the needs of those in their care, no matter the cost. Try it out: Get your Life Group leadership team together and go through your roll and ask this one question. “Do they know we love them?” You may be surprised by your own answers. Here is an action step: If the answer to your question is “no,” do something to make it a “yes.”
by Dr. Jason Hodges, Minister of Adults and Leadership Development
It’s not just about a lesson is it? We can get pretty good lessons just about anywhere. Lessons and lectures are at the click of a button. What I want to see in our Life Groups is teaching and relationships that pave the way for life change. I long to see every Life Group be filled with men and women committed to authentic relationships that pave the way for spiritual influence and transformation. Teaching a lesson on tithing? Try this out: Don’t just teach a lesson on tithing, help someone in your group begin to tithe.
