2022 Ministry Plan
OUR MISSION ENCOUNTER GOD. EQUIP BELIEVERS. ENGAGE THE WORLD.
OUR VALUES Expectant WORSHIP Multiplying DISCIPLE-MAKERS Reaching the UNREACHED Everybody SERVES Innovative FAITH Generous GIVING Life TRANSFORMATION
FROM PASTOR JOSH
Dear Church Family, After several years of uncertainty, I am truly looking forward to 2022! As my family and I transitioned to Taylors First Baptist Church this year, there were several things I knew. I knew that the Lord had called us to a church that had a legacy of serving our state, reaching the nations, and giving to the advancement of the gospel of Jesus Christ. All of those characteristics have been proven true – and they all go back to your generosity! Generosity comes as a response to the truth of the gospel. When we understand that God has been overwhelmingly generous to us, then that leads to a change in our perspective. Generosity is a perspective that everything we have belongs to God, and we are simply stewards of His good gifts. Generosity, then, is a lifestyle! We live as a blessed people and look to bless others. We are not a reservoir but a conduit of God’s good gifts. Our goal in life and in the church is to advance the gospel of Jesus Christ and in part that is accomplished by the generosity of His people. What you have before you is the culmination of the hard work of many within our church, both ministers and lay leaders, to present a Ministry Plan for 2022 that will enable us to reflect the generosity of our God and reach more people with the gospel, both here and everywhere. Thank you church for your continued generosity and as we move into the new year, let’s see what God can do both in us and through us! For I am certain of this – God is faithful! Your Pastor, Josh Powell

“God has called each of us to be worshipers – to present our bodies as living sacrifices, holy and acceptable to God – who ENCOUNTER the Lord daily in our personal worship, and weekly in our corporate worship with other believers. Your generosity allows us to present dynamic and creative worship opportunities every Sunday, as well as special worship events throughout the year. Your generous giving in 2021 sent 65 Student Choir members and leaders on mission to Alaska, supported the ministry of the Senior Adult Choir at the VA hospital, helped our children and students grow as worshipers, and streamed our worship services and many special events, including multiple funerals during the pandemic, for people to watch at home. In 2022 we will return to the amphitheater downtown for a patriotic celebration and evening of worship; the Student Choir, as well as a group from the Worship Choir, will go out on mission; upgrades to sound and lighting are planned for the Worship Center; and we will continue to ENCOUNTER God each week as a church, and in Children’s Ministry, Student Ministry, and College Ministry. Soli Deo Gloria!” Kevin Batson, Worship Pastor

“Taylors Students are so grateful to you, our church family, for your faithful giving! Because of your generous giving we are able to offer opportunities like D-NOW, Fuge Camp, and Fall Retreat alongside our weekly rhythms where any student can encounter God and grow in their walk with Christ. By your faithfulness we can celebrate together 19 student salvations and baptisms in the last year! We are praying expectantly that God will move over and above in the lives of students this upcoming year.” Josh Duncan, Minister of Students
“What an exciting year 2021 has been! The generous giving of time and financial resources of our Taylors body has made it possible for our Connections Team to welcome and connect many guests and new members who have participated in Lunch with the Staff and Starting Point, joined a Life Group, and some who are already using their gifts to serve. Through over twenty different Love Taylors Ministries and partners we’ve been able to engage the surrounding community with the love of Christ through Love Taylors Day, Single Mom’s Oil Change, Just for Today Recovery Ministry, Mission 1:27 foster and adoption support, Village Wrench bicycle repairs and more. Our Taylors Women have grown as disciples through Women in the Word, Mom to Mom, an on-campus retreat, and an encouraging Fall Kick-Off event. Thank you for continuing to pray, give, and serve so that we may continue to see lives transformed into his likeness with ever increasing glory!” — Kathy Dority, Minister of Connections

“First of all, thank you Taylors FBC for modeling generosity to our team, volunteers, and children. This year we will continue to teach chronologically through the Word of God on Sundays and Wednesdays. We will work to build a circle of influence for Jesus around each child at Taylors FBC. Our weekly rhythms and events will focus on presenting the gospel with truth and fullness. We will also continually partner with parents in the discipleship of their children.” Joseph Eskridge, Minister of Children
“In the preschool ministry at Taylors FBC, we are able to introduce preschoolers to the Word of God because of your generous giving. Our volunteers are able to use music, crafts, and scripture to point to God as Creator and Jesus as Savior. We come alongside parents from birth to kindergarten to begin teaching them how to pray and that they can pray anytime and anywhere.” Molly Holder, Minister of Preschool

“Psalm 34:3 says, “Oh, magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt His Name together!” At Taylors, one of our core values is Expectant Worship. Simply put: We believe that every time we gather together to ENCOUNTER God we expect to be changed to become more like Jesus. Your generosity allows us to offer worship opportunities for preschool, elementary, students, college, and everyone in between. We pray that God will do the work only He can do as we ENCOUNTER him weekly and throughout the year with special worship events. Thank you!” Scott Norman, Minister of Worship
“2021 has been an exciting year of renewed fellowship and growth for Taylors Senior Adults as XYZ, Spring Fling, and It’s Fall Y’all returned to the Senior Adult Ministry menu after a year on the shelf because of COVID. At the same time, homebound members and bereaved families have experienced touches of love and caring compassion from their Taylors family – especially through the ministry of our Mercy and Bereavement Teams, and through our Deacon Ministry. Thank you, Taylors FBC family, for your faithful and generous giving which have made these ministries possible, and will do so again in 2022...” — Jerry Long, Minister of Pastoral Care

“When I think of the Taylors family I think of a poem from long ago. “Love ever gives, forgives outlives; and ever stands with open hands, and while it lives, it gives. For this is loves prerogative — to give and give and give.” The Rec Ministry, which you so lovingly support through prayer, finance and participation, reaches out with the Good News of Jesus Christ by means of sports, fitness, wellness, adventure recreation, arts, crafts and more. During the past COVID year we were able to continue all the ministries above. God’s hand of protection enabled us to provide a safe environment for members and guests and to stay open and run full speed. All of this was accomplished because of your faithful prayer and giving. Thank you!” Daryl Hopkins, Minister of Recreation
“Taylors College is excited to grow into year 2022. Our ministry is expectant to see the Lord work in our Sunday morning Life Group, Wednesday night Gathering, conferences, and our fellowship times outside the walls of the church. Together, we will boldly proclaim Jesus as Lord and seek to share his compassion with students on and off local campuses. Taylors Rec Outreach intends to use unique ministry opportunities to engage our body here at Taylors and those in our community. Rec Outreach plans to come alongside our basketball teams, local partners, and the ministries at Taylors to advance the Gospel, and extend an invitation to join in on what God is doing here at Taylors First Baptist. Because of your generous giving we will be able carry out our exciting ministry plan!” Alex Smith, Minister of College and Recreation Outreach
In order to bring glory to God, we seek to bring all people to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ and active participation in His Kingdom, to help them grow in conformity to the image of Christ, and to equip them for ministry and mission in our community, our nation, and among the nations. Our threefold mission, therefore, is to seek to make disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ as we....
