October 2018
Sunday October 7 at 7 pm The Psalmist declares, “He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty.” These words found at the beginning of Psalm 91 tell us that God is our shelter and we can trust Him. As a body of believers, worship is central to everything we do. Encountering God in worship is the first part of our mission at Taylors. This Night of Worship at The Shelter is an opportunity for God’s people to worship outdoors in the beauty of God’s creation. We’ll come together to sing, to share scripture, and to declare our trust in the Lord together. Our primary goal is not to come and “get filled up,” but rather to pour out an offering of praise to the God who is our shelter. Followed by a Dessert Fellowship — Bring your favorite dessert to share! Love Taylors on September 8 Praise the Lord, who gave the command to love our neighbors, inspired the vision to make it happen, and raised up over 350 people to carry it out – what a wonderful day!
Basketball Clinic at Community Mission Baptist Taylors FBC and Community Mission Baptist volunteers served and coached 15 neighborhood children ages 6-12. The Clinic was located next door to the Village Wrench project, which provided a great environment for kids and families to connect.
Village Wrench This was our most exciting Village Wrench Repair event to date! The team worked on 15 bikes, provided hot dogs, prayed for and hung out with many neighbors of all ages from Spring Grove and the Taylors Community. Please continue to pray for those that Village Wrench serves on a monthly basis.
Home Repairs The home repair teams (approximately 30 volunteers) touched the lives of at least 14 families: painted interior rooms and exterior areas, removed old screens, installed handrails, repaired gutters, adjusted doors, replaced rotten trim, hauled off debris, replaced rotten deck boards and porch steps, and repaired a bathroom in the Taylors Community Center.
Health Fair The community was invited to a Health Fair at the Taylors Ministry Center for free health screenings, eye exams, information on nutrition, care-giving, free medical services, and a Zumba class.

Soccer Clinic and Family Fun! Under the leadership of Mike Lee with Refuge Sports, approximately 40 volunteers from Taylors Rec, Taylors FBC and Iglesia Bautista Betania (our Hispanic church partner) served the community through a soccer clinic for ages 6-18, along with activities for families such as crafts, blow-up games, popcorn, cotton candy, and hot dogs.
Brook Glenn Elementary School Approximately 35 volunteers helped work on a number of the following projects: replacing fences, weeding and tending two courtyards with vegetable and flower gardens, painting benches and birdhouses, tending grounds, and washing windows.
Refuge Sports Yard Sale About 30 volunteers transported, labeled, and sold items to benefit Refuge Sports while also giving remaining items (including clothing from the Giving Closet) to refugee families.
Southern Bleachery Trail Volunteers weeded and cleaned grounds, planted plants, mulched along a new walking trail, and cleared overgrowth from a pond bank near the trail.
Worship Ministry Nineteen members of the Worship Ministry had the pleasure of singing for residents of The Carriage House on West Main Street in Taylors. After singing some of their prepared numbers, they enjoyed an old fashioned “hymn sing” and were even stumped a couple of times. They saw tears of joy being wiped away from precious faces. After their sweet time of fellowship, the team planted fall flowers in the beds and window boxes, placed hanging baskets on the porch, and cleaned up the grounds around the facility.
Love Taylors is what we do at Taylors FBC for our community – we serve our neighbors, build on-going relationships, and share the love of Jesus. TAYLORSFBC.ORG | 3

REACH TRIP UPDATES
PRAGUE In early June, our REACH Team set out for Prague to work alongside Adam and Amy Reinking in conducting a community wide project, building a Lego City in the local community center. Our team worked over a five day period to set up, operate, and finally tear down the impressive “city that was built. The event was a great success! We were also able to present a Bible story to the assembled kids, as many parents watched on. It was exciting to know that for most kids and parents, this was the first time in their lives that they have heard stories of faith from Scripture. At the end of the week, it was encouraging to see the warmth with which the Reinkings were being recognized in their community. The result was broken barriers and enhanced opportunities for them to reach out with the gospel of Christ to this lost people group! On October 14, Adam Reinking will be with us, and we will hear firsthand about the movement of the message of good news in this lost nation. Mark your calendars and do not miss it! -Wiley Johnson, 2018 Prague REACH Team
BRAZIL In May, I and five others participated on the 2018 Brazil REACH team to the Davis Lar Orphanage outside of Fortaleza, Brazil. Our mission was to renovate the home of Tim and Lindsey Bayne, missionaries at the Lar who had arrived in Brazil a month earlier. God, The Provider, put together the exact team needed to accomplish the tasks at hand. We were able to repair the roof, assemble 3 bunk beds, and install a support beam in the living room, a new front gate, water filtration system, 8 ceiling fans, hot water heater, and shower heads, among other miscellaneous projects. One of the most meaningful parts of the trip was reconnecting with two former children of the Lar, Nayara and Luan. I first met Nayara when she was 12 years old and Luan when he was a little boy. Nayara is now happily married and on the Brazilian Board of Directors for the Lar. Luan had just finished serving in the Marines and was applying to be an electrical contractor. He helped us with some of our projects, and we were able to give him some tools. Luan and Nayara are reasons why this was my 16th trip to the Lar and why I keep encouraging people to go! TO GOD BE THE GLORY! -Keith Cunningham, 2018 Brazil REACH Team 4 | TAYLORSFBC.ORG
Join us on October 14 for one worship service celebrating what God has done through REACH this year. Updates: Special guest Adam Reinking, our partner in Prague, will be here to share his story, and there will be a special update from Tim and Lindsey Bayne, who are serving in Brazil.
Give: Our annual REACH offering will also be collected, aiming for $150,000 this year to provide 50% scholarships for all 2019 REACH trips.
Learn: Come early for a time of coffee and doughnuts in the Connection Center and a chance to learn more about our partnerships and upcoming REACH trips.
HALIFAX In July of this year, Nick and I were excited and honored to be a part of the Halifax REACH Team. We journeyed to Halifax to work alongside members of Community Bible Chapel and two other churches of Nova Scotia to conduct a weeklong Bible day camp. Nick and I saw God move in many ways during our week in Canada. There were numerous opportunities to share the gospel. One child trusted Christ, while others we spoke with now have the seed of the gospel planted in their hearts. One of God’s fingerprints was the presence of a newly diagnosed diabetic girl who was greatly relieved to learn that Nick could help her, having dealt with diabetes himself for years. We trust that God will bring a good harvest from the seeds that were planted that week. -Jean Ballew, 2018 Halifax REACH Team
LONDON Taylors has recently become a Partner Church with the International Mission Board (IMB) Global Cities Initiative in London. In particular, Taylors has adopted to serve along the Piccadilly Tube Line, with a specific emphasis in the area around Finsbury Park. In August, our REACH Team had the opportunity to work in conjunction with IMB missionaries Chris and Bethany Przybylowicz. We were involved in door-to-door evangelism in Finsbury Park neighborhoods and knocked on a total of 649 doors. From that effort we were able to pray for 54 people, and 33 individuals agreed to a visit from Chris and Bethany. I am so thankful for the unity of our team, the willingness to serve, and God’s faithfulness in going before and with us. One visit that I remember specifically was to the home of a young man who invited us in for a cup of tea. He was from a Jewish background, and we had the opportunity to speak to him and share the gospel. I will always remember his response; he said, “I am almost convinced to pray to accept Christ. However, my father has given me all I have, and he would think I am an idiot if I were to accept.” It was clear that the Holy Spirit was working on this young man’s heart, but due to his cultural past and his family relationships, he was not willing to surrender. Please join with me in praying for Abraham. -James Cartner, 2018 London REACH Team TAYLORSFBC.ORG | 5
LONDON CHOIR TRIP UPDATE Who knew that a group of singers would impact a city as much as our choir? Yes, we sang in cathedrals, a Sunday morning Baptist Church service, in a park, in front of Buckingham Palace, and on the streets. But our conversations with the people we met riding the Tube, in the cafĂŠs, in the park, and in our hotels showed us that His love can and should be shared wherever we go. As we talked to teachers on the playground, senior citizens on the Tube, and other tourists we were able to tell them about singing for the Lord. The Lord requires us to share His Word, but He does not say how we should do it. We are so thankful that He gave us a voice to sing about His hope! My favorite memory is of a sweet lady we met on the Tube as we traveled to Finsbury Park. She had also been a singer in choirs and had sung all over Great Britain. She told us her singing days were over because she now has MS and can not sing anymore. As we rode, she asked me what we were singing and then shared what she used to sing. As we began singing that afternoon in Southwick Cathedral, I looked out and there she was! After we sang, I went straight to her and gave her a big hug. Her husband said she told him she wanted to come hear us sing. We are not sure she was a Christian, but we do know she heard His message through our songs. We pray that if she is not a believer that we planted a seed for her to come to know our Lord. - Susan Florence, 2018 London Choir

The Paradigm by Jonathan Cahn Prepare to uncover the mystery behind your world that will shock and amaze you as you begin a journey of nearly 3,000 years, from an arid Middle Eastern landscape to American soil, from ancient palaces to the White House, from ruthless kings and queens to mysterious priests and priestesses, secrets and scandals, idols and gods, prophets and holy men, signs, wonders, and harbingers – as you discover how each of these things holds a mystery that has determined your world and touched your life.
On the Mountain of the Lord NEW PRAYER MINISTRY
By Dee Hopkins A new addition to our Prayer Ministry has gotten off to a beautiful start. We have been privileged to pray for several people in our personal prayer setting as well as in our Soaking Prayer Room. One comment we heard from a prayer recipient is how "peaceful" they felt when they left. We continue to pray that Father God will connect us with those who need this ministry of prayer. Again, we are here to pray for needs of all kinds - it is the body of Christ ministering to the body of Christ. Even if you do not have a "dire" need, we would love to pray for and bless you in the name of the Lord. For those who are unfamiliar with the "Soaking Prayer Room," it is a place to get away from the busyness of this life for a few minutes and "be still." Focus on who He is - worship Him - wait on Him and be renewed in His Presence - speak to Him and listen for Him to speak to you. We pray that it is a place where people will position themselves for the deep places of the Father’s heart to connect with the deep places of their own (Ps. 42:7). In our Soaking Prayer Room, you will have the benefit of having prayer ministers quietly intercede on your behalf as you rest there. It is our prayer that you will encounter Jesus - the Healer, the Redeemer, the Restorer.
On Wednesday evenings between 5:30 and 7:30 pm, drop by the Soaking Prayer Room in C117 or come by Room C119 to have someone pray with you.
by Bodie Thoene and Ray Bentley This story weaves the headlines of today and the pages of the Bible into a pageturning thriller. It brings the most contested place on earth – the Temple Mount – and the most heated conflict in the world to life.
