Reach: 2014 Opportunities

REACH 2014 opportunities

are excited about this roadmap that provides detail about the W emission opportunities that exist in 2014 ranging from just outside

our campus in Taylors to the ends of the earth. As you read it, I pray your spiritual eyes will see more than a community or city, a region of the United States or a distant part of the globe. My desire is that you’ll see these places filled with people who are separated from the love of God and therefore destined for eternity without Him. While we live daily with the hope and joy of the Gospel, may you be reminded that countless others do not. In fact, the number of those who have never heard one whisper of Jesus and His work is staggering. May this information prompt you to obey the call of Jesus to get the Good News from our doorstep to the ends of the earth as quickly as we can. As one evangelical theologian said, “The Gospel is only Good News if it gets there in time.” Let’s all search our hearts and answer God’s prompting to reach others and make 2014 a remarkable year in advancing the kingdom through the body of Christ at Taylors. Paul Jimenez, Pastor

REACH YOUR When we talk about “REACH” we begin with those closest to us…family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, and classmates. God has strategically placed each one of us in places where we “rub shoulders” with others we can influence for the Name of Christ. For all of us who are privy to the saving knowledge of Christ, we have a great opportunity to influence others to know Him as well. At Taylors FBC we want to challenge and equip you for this great endeavor. We will continue to offer opportunities to help you be a part of reaching those closest to you. Your closest circle of influence is where your “REACH” begins.

Locally Least Reached

We are focused on reaching those within our community and our state who are outside the normal day-to-day life of our members - those who may never hear a personal proclamation of the Gospel. They are usually a culture within our culture, possibly from overseas, but sometimes just unique or overlooked. To reach them will take intentionality – an act of going to where they are, sharing the Gospel, and possibly not bringing them back into Taylors FBC, but rather equipping them to grow and worship together right where they are.

Iglesia Bautista Betania

We will partner with Dr. Delgado and Victor Prieto at Iglesia Bautista Betania, a young, multicultural and diverse Hispanic church in Taylors. We plan to work alongside them to share the Gospel and make disciples among the Hispanic peoples who have come to settle in our community.

English Lessons, Citizen Preparation, Private Tutoring

Literacy Missions, through the Women’s Missionary Union (WMU), teaches ESL and tutors adults and youth. Trained volunteers give their time to people who desire to learn the English language, or who have difficulty with English. They use the Bible as one of their teaching aids and incorporate the Gospel message in the teaching sessions. contact NANCY PRESTELL n_presel@yahoo.com

International Students

The nations have come to us. Looking for a better education and life, our universities and businesses are full of the unreached and least reached people groups from around the world. As a new opportunity, we are praying and seeking direction in how we can be a part of reaching this group of peoples.

South Asians

The Cultural Creatives are a tight-knit group of people who live among us. They are influencers of our community through their various media. We are working together with others in our area to reach this people group through servant evangelism and discipleship.

We are partnering with Suresh Jonnalagadda, pastor of Indian Upstate Fellowship, to make disciples and plant churches among the Asian Indians who have settled in the Greater Greenville area. There will be opportunities for prayer walking, evangelism, and discipleship right here in our community, and yet among unreached peoples from the ends of the earth.

2014 MISSION TRIPS

SOUTH ASIA Kubota People There are approximately 6,700 people groups worldwide who are still considered unreached,* meaning that less than 2% of this number are true followers of Jesus. In 2013, Taylors FBC sent out one of our own families to work within South Asia and among unreached people groups. We are commited to helping them see a healthy indigenous church planted among one of these 6,700 unreached peoples we are calling the Kubota people. Three trips are planned in 2014 to assist our longterm workers in laying the groundwork for the church plant through prayer walking, evangelistic service projects, possible business training, and offering encouragement to the team, that they may continue steadfast and finish the race. TEAM 1: Partnership Foundation Trip Team Size: 4 Adults / Estimated Cost: $2,500 Dates: March TEAM 2 Team Size: 4 Adults / Estimated Cost: $2,500 Dates: September 24 – October 5

THE 10/40 WINDOW

NORTH AFRICA MIDDLE EAST – NEMO Peoples There are approximately 3,800 people groups in the world who are considered unengaged,* meaning there are no believers, and no one intentionally trying to reach them. The NEMO people were one of these 3,800 until 2013, when Taylors FBC partnered with the IMB to “Embrace,” or take responsibility for intentionally trying to reach this people group. We are praying for God to raise up long-term workers who will go and live among the NEMO people for the sake of the Gospel. Two trips are planned where we will prayer walk and begin to build relationships among the NEMO living in the Middle East. We are going to prepare the way for the long-term workers. TEAM 1 Team Size: 4 Adults / Estimated Cost: $3,000 / Date: May TEAM 2: Prayer Walking Team Size: 4 Adults / Estimated Cost: $3,000 / Date: August

Go Therefore and make Disciples of all nations baptizing them in the name of the

Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age. Matthew 19-20

* Unengaged and Unreached People Groups: A people group is “unreached” when the number of Evangelical Christians is less than 2% of its population. It is further called “unengaged” when there is no church planting strategy consistent with Evangelical faith and practice under way. A people group is not engaged when it has been merely adopted, is the object of focused prayer, or is part of an advocacy strategy.

CENTRAL AMERICA To Nicaragua with Chosen Children Ministries

FORTALEZA, BRAZIL Davis LAR Orphanage TEAM 1: Student Ministry High school students will partner with the Davis Lar Orphanage to share the Gospel with the children of the orphanage and the surrounding area. Opportunities to serve include leading Bible clubs and recreation, performing dramas, and helping out with various projects at the orphanage itself. Students interested in going should be growing in their relationship with Jesus, looking to serve others, and willing to get out of their comfort zone. God’s heart is for orphans, and we are excited to join with Him in loving the fatherless and bringing the Good News of Jesus to them. Team Size: 25 High School Students/Leaders Estimated Cost: $2,050 Dates: July 28- August 6

TEAM 2: Adult Coed Team Evangelism/Discipleship/Construction Working with Mark and Paige Anderson and the Davis Lar Orphanage has been part of the mission history of Taylors FBC for many years. In this community the team will prayer walk and hold a Bible study at a youth soccer game. Both construction and maintenance are needed this year. General maintenance includes the main site and plans to complete construction of the building started in 2012. Nightly object lessons will be held at boys and girls sites, alternately. During the week at the main site, activities are planned to undergird the staff, loving those who will love the children long after our team leaves. Our team will come alongside the IMB and Czech church planters to target the city district of “Modrany” through prayer walking and service evangelism. Prague is a city of over one million people set on seven hills with its share of cobblestone streets and sidewalks. Primary mode of transportation is walking. Team Size: 5-8 Adults* / Cost: $1,800 Dates: October 3-11 * Team members must be able to walk several miles per day and stand for two hours at a time.

Chosen Children Ministries exists to share God’s love and the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the people of Nicaragua, serving their spiritual and physical needs in ways that bring God glory.
