EVENING OF WORSHIP
Lord's Supper and Ordination September 12 at 6:00 pm
Join us as we ordain a new deacon, Mark McKenna, and our Minister of College and Recreation Outreach, Alex Smith, and celebrate the Lord's Supper! It will be a great night of worship.
ENCOUNTERING GOD THROUGH SPIRITUAL DISCIPLINES When regularly practiced, Spiritual Disciplines position us to have a personal encounter with God, to hear Him when He speaks, and to be transformed by the power of His Spirit. The following are a few of the disciplines we encourage you to practice on your spiritual journey. Resources to equip you are available in The Connection Center.
Develop a Daily Time with God Set aside time every day to grow in your relationship with Him.
Grow in Your Prayer Life Grow in your understanding and practice of effective prayer in order to position you to hear Him speak.
Journal as You Reflect Incorporate the discipline of journaling to enhance your Bible study time and to position yourself to hear God’s voice.
Cleanse Your Heart Through Confession Practice regular confession of sin in order to remove barriers between you and God and to prepare your heart to hear from Him.
Immerse Yourself in Scripture Develop a process of Bible study that will take you deeper in your understanding of scripture. Meditate on specific passages in order to hear more clearly when God speaks through His Word.
Practice Fasting Fast regularly in order to develop a more intimate relationship with Christ, to position yourself to hear His voice, and to increase the effectiveness of your prayers.
Regular practice of these disciplines will also lead you deeper in your ability to worship corporately as you join with other believers in regular worship services.

FUGE is a Cornerstone Event for Taylors Students During Cornerstone events, students will encounter God, be equipped to walk with Him, and be sent by Him to engage people.
FROM TAYLORS FBC FUGE LEADERS Amanda McKenna | Cameron Burroughs | Kelley Williams | Josh Duncan Before FUGE Camp, we as Taylors Student leaders were praying for a spiritual awakening and a new spirit to come upon our students. It has been a long and difficult few years for our church and for our students! We knew that God could breathe fresh life into our students by transforming their hearts and lives – our students just needed to be open and ready to encounter God in that way. The theme for FUGE this summer was Dwell. We learned that God is our refuge, he is with us, he is faithful, he is our rest, and he is always in control. Although we know the truth that God is always with us, it’s not always as obvious as it was to us at camp this summer. We took a group of 34 students with us…but came back with something much different. FUGE opened doors for new friendships between the students that helped create a sense of unity. Each night in our church group time, our students would open up and share what God had been teaching them. On Wednesday night the flood gates opened, and the Holy Spirit moved in such a way that we had been praying to see for years. We saw our students love on each other, be vulnerable with each other, share difficult things they were going through, confess sin to one another, comfort each other, and pray for one another. They let down their walls with each other and allowed for transparency to happen in that room. It truly was like nothing we’d ever seen before. After Wednesday night, we had a different group of students with us. The Holy Spirit was transforming the lives of our students right in front of us. It was amazing to watch students truly worship the Lord together. The rest of the week, God allowed for our students to grow deeper, have hard conversations with us, make commitments to God and friends, and take a giant step to transforming our student ministry as a whole from the inside out. No one wanted to leave, but just as we told our students, God has placed us in our current circumstances, in our specific environment, for a purpose. God gave us a mountain top experience with Him so that we could bring that back and share His grace and unifying peace with everyone here at Taylors! The bonds that the Holy Spirit formed between our students and us as leaders will forever shape us, and we are so grateful to God for that. To say our experience was incredible would be an understatement. We are forever changed and are ready to take three times as many L to R: Amanda McKenna, Cameron Burroughs, students next summer! We came back with a different group of students because of the life changing love, grace, and mercy of Josh Duncan, and Kelley Williams Jesus. To God be the glory!

FROM TAYLORS FBC STUDENT, CAROLINE ROLLER This summer, I along with many others in the student ministry, had the opportunity to go to FUGE camp at Liberty University. To say this trip was amazing would be an understatement. This summer was the first time that Taylors Students have gone to FUGE, and it was easily the best trip I have ever experienced. From getting on the bus to leave for the week, to packing up the last morning, it was non-stop excitement, relay games, worship, and so much more. The whole week was one of the best weeks I’ve ever had, but there were a few things that made it the most memorable. One of my favorite things about FUGE is how many different people you meet. We were put into Bible study groups with people our age from different churches, which gave us the opportunity to make many new friendships. I still talk to a lot of the friends I made at FUGE! Along with that, we had Bible studies in those groups every morning, which were one of the most encouraging parts of the week. The FUGE leaders seek to deepen every student’s relationship with Christ in a way that connects with us in such a valuable way. Along with Bible studies every day, we also had relay games and activities. One of the activities we had to do was get over a 12-foot wall, only with the help of one another. We also stood on a platform and did a trust fall with our group to catch us. These may not sound interesting, but they were a major part of my life change from the week. With every single thing we did, our Bible study leaders led it all back to Christ. The wall related to our faith in that sometimes we may struggle and it may be really difficult, but God always provides a way through our situations and He uses community as a way to do so. Similarly, with the trust fall, it’s not easy to trust God in scary situations and sometimes you’ll doubt that He will come through and catch you, but He always does. Every night, our Taylors Students group came together to debrief the day and talk about the sessions. The best night of the entire week in my opinion was called "night life." This was the first night that our youth group really opened up to each other and were vulnerable with one another, which is what we’re called to do. We prayed over every single person individually and what they were going through and got to lift each other up in Christ, more so than we have ever done. I’ve been in the Taylors Student Ministry since 6th grade and that was the first time I’ve ever experienced vulnerability with our group like that! Being able to pray with and over friends is something that is beyond powerful and it was the highlight of my week. God moved in Taylors Students like never before, and I’m so thankful I was able to be a part of it. For those of you who prayed for us, God answered abundantly, so thank you. The beautiful thing is that this is just the beginning of Taylors Students going to FUGE in the summer! If you missed it this summer, you don’t want to miss next year! You will have the time of your life playing games, making so many new amazing friendships, encountering God like never before, and growing in your walk on a deeper level. FUGE was the best week of my life and I am changed because of it. God is faithful!

EXPERIENCE LONDON
When the 2021 REACH Trip to London was cancelled because of COVID travel restrictions in England, our IMB partners in London suggested that we could still participate in a “virtual” REACH trip via Zoom. We decided to give it a try and so over several evenings we met with REACH Partners in London.
A
Be sure to check out our new REACH area for weekly partner highlights, information, and prayer cards! We will be sharing a clue about our new REACH Partnership each week leading up to REACH Sunday. Can you guess where our new partner is located?
On the first night, the IMB London Team Leader and a IMB REACH Partner taught us about the demographics and diversity of London, plus the challenge of reaching this global city with the gospel of Jesus Christ. It was sobering to learn that only 2% of London’s population claim to be evangelical Christian. Despite the statistic, they shared that the Holy Spirit is moving. They shared how people are more open to spiritual conversations and are coming to Christ. One example they gave was about a pastor who decided to faithfully engage his community evangelistically for 10 days straight. The Lord blessed and 165 Brits came to Christ! On the second evening, Ryan King, pastor of Grace Baptist Church Wood Green, shared about the community where he ministers. Due to the cultural and linguistic diversity there, the challenges are great and the work is slow and demanding. In his church alone, between 15 and 20 nationalities are represented! Despite the lostness in Wood Green, Ryan shared how God is moving and drawing Londoners to Himself. Our IMB partner encouraged Ryan by telling us how Ryan is a prime example of how local churches can minister effectively during the COVID pandemic. We pray that we can host many more of these virtual REACH trips in the future! — Larry and Carolyn Freshour

ENGAGE THE WORLD Taylors FBC members, James and Jane Thompson, recently returned to Lusaka, the capital of Zambia in Africa, after serving there from 1999 to 2004. Read on to learn how you can pray for them and their ministry. FROM THEN UNTIL NOW Twenty-six hours after departing Greenville on June 24, we finally arrived to catch our first glimpses of a much-changed Lusaka! One might believe that perhaps the changes were not as drastic as appeared – maybe it was just jet lag! But in the 17 years that we have been gone so much development has taken place. It was here that our journey on the mission field began in 1999. We realize that a country needs to move forward and progress but at the same time it’s bittersweet – gone are the days of waiting in line for a loaf of bread, now you can buy it in several varieties at one of the many specialty bakeries! HOW TO BEGIN Our task is to walk alongside and serve the IMB missionaries living in Zambia, Zimbabwe and Malawi in the role of logistics. We will help in the areas of visas, vehicles and housing. While that might sound a daunting task, the number of those currently serving in these countries are only 19 units including ourselves! This too is quite a change from 1999-2004. In those days there were over 40 units serving in these countries. Please pray that we will be an encouragement to these fellow missionaries as we seek to serve them! WORSHIP Due to the Zambian Government’s COVID mandates, currently churches are only allowed to meet for one hour. Some have chosen not to meet due to health risks and those that do meet have a very low attendance. We have worshipped together with some of our mission family on a couple of Sundays and also attended one of the local churches. But have been blessed the most by the small gathering that we had in our home one Sunday morning! Upon our arrival to Zambia, we were told that in a few days there was a surprise visitor coming to see us. We wondered who this could be. Was it one of the missionaries that had served with us in the past or maybe one of our Zambian friends that we knew previously? But to our surprise, who should come driving into our gate but one of our Indian brothers and his wife from Delhi! How awesome is God to allow us to have the blessing of a familiar Indian face right here in Zambia! It’s been a struggle not to return to India and yet now we are blessed with having an Indian brother and sister right here with us in Lusaka! So, on that Sunday morning we gathered in our living room with Romi, Reema, Joseph, Karen and their 3 children (the Zambian family living on our property) – it was truly an International gathering representing India, Zambia and the USA! PRAYER REQUESTS • Please pray that we will be able to get a handle on the logistical tasks that have accumulated over the past couple of years without a logistical person serving on the ground here. • Pray that when restrictions loosen up, we will find a local body to worship with. • Pray for our son, as he is on a “spiritual journey” seeking to know God. In His Service, James and Jane Thompson TAYLORSFBC.ORG | 11
BACK TO SCHOOL BASH
SINGLE MOM'S OIL CHANGE
I am so thankful Taylors FBC has a ministry that provides this resource to our single moms in the community. I am thankful for the volunteers who helped to pack backpacks. God always provides and on Saturday we had enough backpacks full of the school supplies you donated! Saturday, August 7, was a beautiful day full of blessings. Many ladies wanted one-on-one prayer with our prayer warriors and we also had a lot of ladies who were coming to the oil change for the first time! Thank you for your willingness to pray over this ministry and serve face to face with these ladies in the community. So blessed and thankful! Kim Massie, Single Mom's Oil Change Volunteer

She was blessed by us and the ministry we were providing for her family and we were blessed by her thankfulness, joy, and praise for her recent recovery.”
