RESPONSE is the only non-profit agency in Suffolk County that provides crisis intervention and suicide prevention services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. If you or someone you know is feeling depressed or suicidal, pick up the phone and call our crisis line: 631-751-7500. Knowing where to turn for help can be the biggest obstacle. RESPONSE is here to help. Last year we received over 20,000 calls for help. We spoke to thousands of teens in our schools and online. We trained professionals and caregivers throughout the communities we serve. We connected with socially isolated members of our community through our Support Line. We provided a lifeline to those facing the challenges of mental illness and we helped grieving families suffering from tragic loss. The 2012 County Budget was reduced and our losses were staggering. 2013 will bring further cuts to our budget. We need your help. As we approach this Holiday season, please add “donation to RESPONSE” to your “To Do” List. A $25 donation would support online counseling for a student struggling with bullying. A $50 donation would pay for telephone counseling for the person contemplating suicide who decides to reach out.
