The Hopping Noble The Hopping Noble came about during a beverage branding project in 2015. It’s a modern beer label that pays homage to its roots but still competes in the current day. I wanted to create a brand that had the clean formal look and styling but without loosing that fun and roguish spirit. The Hoping Noble brand is designed with traditional beers and style in mind. The simple black silhouette gives it a clean look, however the slightly raised leg subtly conveys a playfulness that is not normally found in the stuffy originals. It is a classic beer for the everyday person, and when it gets right down to it who doesn’t like to pretend that they are a little bit fancy?

Sleeping Beauty Medimime This project was for a pitch for a local charity that raise money for the childrens hospital in Geelong with an annual pantomime. For the overall theme of this job I wanted to keep the original feel of Sleeping Beauty but to give the whole thing a clean modern feel. I focused mainly on the display type which I created completely by hand. All the colours came from the original 1959 movie poster, which gave nice harmony and brought it all back to its origins. Then to give it that clean poster feel I used Trajan as a typeface both for its looks and legibility in multiple sizes. These simple but striking elements worked very well across the wide range of collateral.
Geelong Library Project This project was a total rebranding job for the new Geelong Library and Heritage Centre. Initially I found the rebrand a slight challenge, so I spent a fair bit of time on some research and looking at the structures and overall building. The building was a very specific shape and they spent a lot of money to have a central library hub that had a big point of difference which would draw people in. My idea was to play off this main point of difference which is the building shape itself. I simplified the overall outline of the library dome into as basic a shape as possible. From here it allowed me to use the repetition of the curves and lines to create some very distinct forms to use in the logo and as a strong theme throughout.

Dry Barrel In 2011 for my Major Project for Industrial Design I spent the year working on a system for drying a wetsuit. As a cold water surfer I know first hand there is nothing worse than pulling on a cold wet wetsuit in the middle of winter. So I devoted my final year to finding the solution. After that year spent up to my waist in wet wetsuits I had a product that can get the wetsuit 85% dry in 1 hour, is portable and watertight and also incorporates storage for fins, fin keys, wax, wax combs, sunscreen etc. This idea of hardware storage also spawned a secondary product specifically for all the miscellaneous goods a surfer carries day tot day in the back of their car.
Globe Work Experience In 2007 I was lucky enough to get some work experience at Globe inthe shoe design area under Noel Forsyth. I worked on colourwaydevelopment for their Encore style as well as some logo development. I designed a few different lace holders, as well as a series of accessories based on the band ‘Devo’. Plus I designed a swing tag as part of Gallaz new range of roman style sandals; the tag was a simple instruction booklet for the numerous ways to tie the ankle straps.
Hanging Chairs & Table For my furniture design elective I really wanted to design something very different, yet still functional. The initial inspiration I got while on a surf trip to the Maldives, they had trees with sometimes as many as 15 chairs hanging from them. I loved the look and wanted to design something that captured laid back feel you get in a tropical island paradise. For this design I worked with physical models, partly because that is one of the ways I work best but also because quite early it became apparent that sketching and CAD would restrict the design, as they bypass the physics required to make this work. Every detail of the design was resolved physically working within the material constraints.
