with custom, I WILLIAM SPRY, 4 Governor of tho State of Utah, do hereby designate Wednesday, 4 April 15, 1914, Arbor Day. That tho celebration of this 4 day may bo general throughout 4 tho State and that tho signlfi- cance of its observance may be 4 impressed particularly upon tho 4 children, I recommend that ox- - 4 crciscs bo held in the public schools of a nature calculated to promote interest in and lovo for tho beautiful in our surround- ings. Tho planting of trees, shrubs, nnd vines in our public parks, grounds and highways and about our homes does more to promote civic pride than any other practice of general obscrv- ance. I therefore commend Ar- - 4 bor Day to the people of Utah 4 as an opportunity for a united effort toward tho adornment of our stato through tho culture of trees and shrubbery.
