The Turks and Caicos Islands Hospital's Infection Control department organized a series of workshops aimed at preparing hospital staff for a potential cholera outbreak. Recognizing the importance of being proactive in addressing public health concerns, the hospital has taken significant steps to ensure patients' and staff's safety and well-being.

Cholera, a severe gastrointestinal infection caused by the bacterium Vibrio cholera, can spread rapidly under specific conditions, making it crucial for healthcare facilities to be well-prepared and equipped to handle such outbreaks.

Through these workshops, the infection control unit aims to enhance the knowledge and skills of hospital staff, including doctors, nurses, and support staff, regarding the best practices for infection control during a cholera outbreak. The workshops covered the following key areas: Identification and Diagnosis, Infection Prevention and Control, Patient Management, and Communication and Collaboration
