Jimmy Hayley Golf Classic – Sept. 25 & 26

It’s that time of year to register for the legendary Jimmy Hayley Golf Classic! This year’s tournament will be held Wednesday, Sept. 25, and Thursday, Sept. 26, at Bayou Golf Course in Texas City. Rain dates are Oct. 2 & 3.

Meet, greet and socialize with industrial plant managers, business colleagues, customers, clients and guests...all in a casual, relaxed setting. It’s truly one of the region’s can’t-miss events! Choose from three different team packages, each package includes a team of four players.

This two-day event hosts more than 400 golfers and two dozen hospitality tents to create an amazing networking and social atmosphere. This year’s tournament will consist of four flights: Wednesday AM and PM and Thursday AM and PM.

The Thursday PM flight is the Industry Leadership Flight where you will have the opportunity to be paired with a high-level industry leader and more to come! Stay tuned to find out which industries you can golf with! Call the TCLM Chamber to learn more about each package and register today.

Golfers can to visit more than 24 hospitality tents on the green and try the delicious food that they will be serving! Stay tuned for the 2024 theme so you can tie this into your golf duds to wear. YOUNG PROFESSIONALS

Young Professionals Bowling Tournament to be held Sept. 8

Get in the game and join the chamber for the first ever fundraiser event for the Young Professionals Network from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 8, at Bowlero Texas City. This event will help the group fund future events, such as group service projects and lunch-and-learns! There are limited team spots, so don’t miss your chance to be a part of this bowling extravaganza! Whether you are a seasoned bowler or just looking for a fun-filled afternoon, the Young Professionals Network promises an unforgettable experience for all. This event is open to all ages.

WOMEN IN BUSINESS

The Women in Business networking group met July 23 and heard from guest speaker Dr. Helen Castellanos Brewer, of College of the Mainland. The Theme was “Let’s Talk about Reliance vs. Reliability” and was sponsored by College of the Mainland. Special thanks to the College of the Mainland for hosting this chamber event and thanks to Gator’s Bar and Grill for providing the lunches.

The next Women in Business Luncheon will be Thursday, Aug. 22 in the conference room at the TCLM Chamber of Commerce. At this event, the group will hear from Kendra Windisch, of University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, as she speaks on the topic “Cancer Symptoms Women Shouldn’t Ignore.”

The Chamber is looking for prizes for the winners for Bayou Bingo on Friday, Aug. 16! Either send the Chamber a gift that has a $350 value, or you can submit $350 and the Chamber staff will purchase your gift for you.

The Chamber also needs raffle items that are at least a value of $75 or more. You don’t want to miss out on the fun opportunity to showcase your business in front of more than 600 guest!

YOUNG PROFESSIONALS

The TCLM Chamber of Commerce’s Young Professionals Network met July 17 for a Lunch and Learn at the TCLM Chamber. Everyone in attendance had the chance to a hear from Hillary Gramm of Higher Up Texas speak about “Dusting off that Rolodex!” This topic was about gaining a deeper understanding of your business and personal network. Gramm had the group break off in to pairs to share their passions with each other. She then had the group collaborate and make their passions realistic goals. Gramm helped the Young Professionals members learn how to capitalize on the potential of their personal, professional and community betterment. Thank you to everyone who attended and enjoyed this inspiring event. A special thank you to Gus’ Restaurant Inc. for providing lunch for guests.

TCLM Chamber of Commerce holds luncheon to welcome new TCISD teachers

The TCLM Chamber of Commerce welcomed new TCISD teachers into the community at a luncheon held Tuesday, July 30 at the Charles T. Doyle Convention Center in Texas City.

Teachers heard a motivational and encouraging message from Mayor Dedrick Johnson, sharing his wisdom for a wonderful 2024-2025 school year. Those in attendance played team-building games that encouraged cooperation and showcased their competitive spirits. Lunch was provided by Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers.

Thank you to all the vendors who participated in this year’s event and provided information for the new teachers. A special thank you to all the sponsors who provided gifts and items for the teachers’ gift bags. This all helped the new teachers feel welcomed into the community.

Also, a huge thanks to all the Luncheon Sponsors who helped make the event possible. The chamber sends wishes for a great school year!

TCLM Chamber of Commerce hosts Wake Up Wednesday event July 31

Coastal Community Federal Credit Union hosted Wake Up Wednesday on July 31 at its La Marque location. A great crowd of community members attended to network and have fun. Everyone participated in a rapid-fire round of networking where they spoke on their business and any hot topics happening in the community.
