Who are we? Anderson Regional Joint Water System (ARJWS) is a partnership of rural and municipal water districts devoted to providing a high-quality, clean, safe, reliable, economical flow of treated water to our wholesale customers in Anderson and Pickens counties. Where is our water sourced? ARJWS is supplied by surface water from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers 55,000-acre Lake Hartwell Reservoir, which lies along the border of Upstate South Carolina and Georgia. The plant operates 24 hours per day, every day of the year. Its current capacity is 45 million gallons a day (MGD). How do we treat water? ARJWS uses a conventional filtration system consisting of flocculation, sedimentation, and filtration processes. Our filters are composed of gravel, sand, and carbon, and they remove 99.9% of particulate matter from the water. Finished water is chlorinated to prevent bacterial growth, ensuring that customers receive the highest quality water.

Local companies serve customers across the U.S. and around the world, providing them with products and services that range from hydraulic pumps that keep heavy mining equipment running to unique, automated manufacturing cells to ignition systems that can be found in aircraft across the globe. Education and training play a critical role in Pickens County’s industrial community. Clemson University’s status as a top 100 research University, the strength of Pickens County’s K-12 school system and the technical education and training resources available at Tri-County Technical College combine to offer local companies a steady stream of highly-skilled employees. Manufacturing is the county’s primary source of economic growth, with approximately 130 facilities in the Easley, Liberty and Pickens areas. Within the county’s borders, there are over 5,500 employed in manufacturing, with more than half employed in the metalworking/industrial equipment industries. The importance of manufacturing to the area expands beyond the borders of Pickens County. Within the local region there are more than 90,000 employed by manufacturers at approximately 1,800 facilities. Learn more at alliancepickens.com.
