Grande, Gomez tried to fix marriage with Europe trip before split: report

Recently separated Ariana Grande and Dalton Gomez falsely hoped the romance of Europe might save their marriage.

The couple, whose split was confirmed earlier this week, “were having issues for a while” when they decided to go their separate ways, a source told ET.

“Dalton went to Europe recently to be with Ariana and try to work things out between them. But it just wasn’t working,” said the insider, noting that conflict aside, “They are trying to be as respectful as they can and protect each other’s privacy through this breakup.”

The “Thank U, Next” singer, 30, is in the UK filming the highly anticipated two-part film adaptation of Broadway hit “Wicked.”

The first installment, slated for release next year, will see Grande play Glinda opposite Cynthia Erivo’s Elphaba. Though Grande has only been filming since December, she and Gomez hit a rough patch beforehand, according to TMZ.

Now “heading for divorce,” as sources told the outlet, the couple was experiencing “issues before she left ... that they couldn’t resolve, and the distance did not help.”
