Daniel 5:12 NLT This man Daniel, whom the king named Belteshazzar, has exceptional ability and is filled with divine knowledge and understanding. He can interpret dreams, explain riddles, and solve difficult problems. Call for Daniel, and he will tell you what the writing means.” Are there any Innovative Thinkers in the House of RDCI? I shout a resounding YES!!!! You will find them in our Children’s Ministry! When you ask a typical school-age child what’s on their mind these days, you may get responses like…spring break, summer vacations with friends and family, or plenty of food, fun, and fellowship! Now when you ask what’s on the mind of a RDCI Children’s Church “Trailblazer,” you will probably get ALL the above AND maintaining honor roll status, performing at major community events, and planning for their future! Why such a response? They are not typical, they are Trailblazers - the generation of “Innovative Thinkers.” These Trailblazers have been taught from Pre-School age to present to believe in their hearts and confess with their mouths that “I am quick to learn and qualified to do all that I am asked to do because I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me.”

Like Daniel, they have an “Excellent Spirit.” This kind of spirit allows our Trailblazers to have exceptional abilities to do exceptional things for God. To hear the heart of a child say “I want to be a GOOD Cop and not a BAD cop so that I can help people and not hurt them,” is to hear the heart of an innovative thinker who desires to solve difficult problems. As a young innovative thinker, our children think about and plan ahead for their future. They say stuff like “I will study hard and stay focused to be the best lawyer I can be,” or “I will research and practice my skills so that I can be called upon.” The Word of God says in Deuteronomy 28:13, “If you listen to these commands of the Lord your God that I am giving you today, and if you carefully obey them, the Lord will make you the head and not the tail, and you will always be on top and never at the bottom.” Because of the teaching our innovative thinkers receive at their level of comprehension and their ability to apply what they have learned, they are well able to excel in every area of their lives. So it’s not strange to hear of a 9-year-old boy’s plans to increase & expand his families’ business or to see an 8-year-old girl create a product that is sold in major drugstore chains in several cities. These are just small examples of how the mind of our generation of “Innovative Thinkers” operates. Innovative Thinkers are in the House!

At RDCI, we are building bridges from generation to generation. Our ministry serves and ministers to every age group, from infants & toddlers, to preschool, to elementary school, to middle school, to high school, to college, to young adults, to married couples, to senior citizens. The word of God is relevant for all people of all ages whether we read it from the large bible on our coffee table or from the smart phone in our pocket.

With the celebration of our 19th Anniversary, we begin our 20th year of ministry or what I prefer to call “Kingdom Expansion.” Twenty years equals another generation. A generation is defined as “the entire body of individuals born and living at about the same time.”

It is exciting to reflect upon all God has done for us, with us and through us in the first generation of Right Direction Church International. We are now one church with three campuses in Columbia, Orangeburg, and Florence, SC. We have had the opportunity to become an international ministry through mission outreaches to the Dominican Republic, Nigeria, Ghana, Zambia and South Africa. However, what is most exciting is to see us become a “multigenerational ministry.” Children who matriculated through our Rightly Directed Children’s Ministry and Radically Anointed Youth Group (now EPIC – Experiencing Power In Christ), have grown up, gone to college, entered the work force and now have become part of the leadership team of our church. We have seen a generation of those to whom we ministered now become the current generation of ministers. What can be more rewarding and exciting than that? As we move into our 20th year of ministry with a refreshed vision and a new generation of “millennials” (those 20 – 30 or thereabout), served by our New Millennium Ministry, we are deliberately becoming more innovative about how we do ministry. We must deliberately remain relevant to a new point & click generation who are highly educated, visually stimulated and social media savvy. The message of the gospel of God’s grace extended to us through his Son, Jesus Christ, never changes. However, we are deliberate in the methods that we employ to deliver that message. Concurrently, we are preparing for the generation even beyond the millennials through our Rightly Directed Children’s Ministry. In 2015 we will complete a new Children’s Ministry Building for our elementary students on our Columbia Campus. This complex has been planned for approximately two years and is to be completed by fall 2015. Children are important to Jesus, so they must be important to us as well. When Jesus’ disciples were hindering children from coming to Jesus, he rebuked them and said: “…suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 19:14). Then Jesus laid his hands on the children and blessed them. While reaching forward to a new generation we are also conscious to never abandon the prior generations who have paved the way, opened up doors and gave us our start. Therefore, while having a New Millennium Ministry, we also maintain our Seasoned Citizens Ministry for those “more seasoned” members of our congregation. We need the wisdom of the older with the strength of the younger. Jesus said: “I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the Word of God abideth in you…” (I John 2:14). Together we can take our ministry onward and upward into a new generation. We are intentionally updating, evolving and progressing to reach every generation and leave none behind. No, we are not fickle. We are just very deliberate about our mission “to empower people to live successful lives through the teaching of faith principles that transform thinking and impact future generations.”

nnovation is doing things in a new way or using different methods and that can be challenging for anyone who may be a creature of habit. Or maybe your life is too complicated with a lot of moving parts and you don’t have time for innovation. This may be the case, but I want to challenge you to take a moment and make some room in your life and give innovation a chance. It might be the next best thing to sliced bread, introducing you to a new way of doing what you do.

Innovation isn’t automatic. Our schedules, lives and routines will fight against it. We have to make room mentally for innovation and that means slowing down a little bit to consult with God, our creator. Isaiah 43:19 (amplified) Behold, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs forth; do you not perceive and know it and will you not give heed to it? I will even make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. God is saying look, “I’m presenting you with a new way and it’s right in front of you! I will show you how to make it through every crazy moment in your life! When your life is in a drought I will show you the how to find the water in the dry season in your life. Can you say “Yes” to innovation?” With God’s help we can see new ways of doing things and innovation can show us how to make it through every wilderness experience in our lives. I remember the time when we lived in Portland, Maine and the struggle was real. I needed money for bread, milk and diapers for my children. We just didn’t have the money for the smaller necessities for our family. One day, as I was praying, I recalled an image of a homeless man collecting cans to return. So, I swallowed my pride and picked up every can and bottle I came across. I even asked my friends not to throw away their cans, but asked if they could give them to me instead. Problem solved! I had a new way to purchase milk, bread and diapers for my kids. I know it may not seem major to you but it was pretty big to me. God showed me something that was right in front of me and it helped me through a wilderness time in my life. Innovation is not only to give you a new way to do something big, it will help you in the day-to-day workings of your life. As a congregation we are taking a look at innovation. We are challenging each other to step back and take a look at our ministries and methods and ask God what new thing or new way do you want to reveal to us? 14 |

Making Room For Innovation

1 Corinthians 2:9-10 (amplified): But on the contrary, as the Scriptures say, What eye has not seen and ear has not heard and has not entered into the heart of man, [all that] God has prepared (made and keeps read) for those who love Him [who hold Him in affectionate reverence, promptly obeying Him and gratefully recognizing the benefits He has bestowed]. Yet to us God has unveiled and revealed them by and through His Spirit, for the [Holy] Spirit searched diligently, exploring and examining everything, even sounding the profound and the bottomless things of God [the divine counsels and things hidden and beyond man’s scrutiny]. God, through His Spirit, empowered us to see and hear “innovation” for our ministries and lives. We just have to make room in our day and lives to hear and see the innovative things He has for us this season, in prayer. Prayer is our vehicle to talk to God and the Holy Spirit empowers us to search the heart of God regarding our lives when we pray in the Spirit. It was through the vehicle of prayer that S.W.A.T.A was birthed and time praying in the Spirit that Dee’s Haven was conceptualized. Prayer is the vehicle that God uses to introduce His ideas, methods and heart to a people for a season. I believe that the best is yet to come and that God has new things and new ways to reach a people that are traveling through the wilderness. I hear a clarion call for people to seek God and His heart on the way that is to be made for a weary and thirsty generation. He (God) is waiting for us to make some room in our busy schedules and busy lives to seek His face for innovation. Amos 3:7 KJV: “Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.” Let’s make some room in our lives for prayer so that we can see and hear the innovation God has for our lives.

s a youth ministry, we have been campaigning to reflect Pastors’ heart for innovation within our youth ministry. God has given us wisdom to develop a team full of prayer and power. This is done by EXPERIENCING POWER IN CHRIST. The standard of spirituality is being made and students’ lives are being changed through the EXPERIENCE of God’s love. My father, Dr. Herbert Bailey, recently gave me the challenge to make efforts to show our congregation the ministry side of youth ministry versus the traditional “fun, games, music, and glow sticks” approach. I ask that you please take notice to my previous statement “traditional.” God has given us the challenge of innovation in the areas of going against the tradition. Now, when I say tradition you might think I am talking about adult ministry tradition such as “suits, organs, and church folks clapping,” but I am not. We have seen that in youth ministry today you can find yourself sucked into the adolescent tradition of fun, hip-hop, music, dancing, games, and fellowship. Therefore, youth ministry’s tradition is the exact opposite of the adult church tradition. Tradition in youth ministry is infused with fun, hip-hop, music, dancing, games, and fellowship with no POWER. However, that is not God’s standard for the youth of Right Direction Church International. We must demand the glory of God to hit our youth ministry. There is nothing wrong with having fun and encouraging teenagers to fellowship in a setting geared to them, but to do that and have no power will cause all of the planning and financial resources granted to us for ministry to be in vain. Our teenagers need the power of Jesus Christ to fill their lives and that is our standard for youth ministry. Another means of innovation we have been working towards is encouraging, training, and teaching the importance of giving IN the youth ministries of R.D.C.I. Our pastors don’t just teach giving they demonstrate giving. Our goal at EPIC “high school ministry” and Bridge “middle school ministry” alike, is to develop a demonstration culture of love and giving. To love is to give and in our youth ministry financial giving is used as a tool to express love towards God. As our youth ministry evolved, one step of innovation involved our volunteers’ title being changed from youth workers to specialists. We have been believing for specialists that work with teenagers and by faith we encourage them that if they feel the need and the call to serve the teenagers of R.D.C.I. that they should trust that God has equipped them with the ability to specialize with serving the teenagers with the love of God. We have developed an innovative leadership culture as well. Our goal is to develop the same leadership foundation our pastors have, which is the “figure it out” culture. When laying a foundation in ministry it can seem easy to request and ask

for financial assistance for every task versus allowing God to show you as a leader the POWER within the team you have. Furthermore, by developing a culture of “figuring it out,” the journey of ministry can lead to great rewards. God has sent the youth ministries of R.D.C.I. absolutely wonderful volunteers and leaders with diverse backgrounds and gifts of services that are offered in our ministry. When people’s hearts are channeled right, team work can be powerful. Our goal for leadership is striving for the continued pursuit of teamwork. We have and will continue to uproot the individual spirit. Our innovative standard is found in scripture, “I pray that they will all be one, just as you and I are one--as you are in me, Father, and I am in you. And may they be in us so that the world will believe you sent me (John 17:21 NLV).” In our pursuit for innovation, soundness and teamwork, it has led us to the creation of our Epic “E’s.” Our Epic E’s encompass the core values of youth ministry which were gleaned from the book “Purpose Driven Youth Ministry” by Doug Fields. The book was written during his time serving as youth pastor for Rick Warren’s Saddleback Church. Our five E’s are: Empower for Discipleship, Experience for Worship, Embrace for Ministry, Engage for Fellowship, and Enlist for Evangelism. Our focus this year, and every year to come, is to have an E-Healthy youth ministry. We know that the POWER of Jesus holds our ministry together and our goal is to keep those 5 values at the core of our youth ministry. In January of this year we had the privilege of having my mother, Dr. Marcia Bailey, as the keynote speaker at our E-Healthy Bootcamp. This bootcamp is done twice a year to help our volunteers get ready for ministry and stay current with the mission and direction we are taking the youth ministry of Right Direction Church International. This year when she spoke she talked about leaving no teenager behind. When we heard her mention that we made that statement our new focus. Therefore “operation leave no teenager behind” was on its way. Today, our focus is to allow all teenagers to experience EPIC and BRIDGE the gap for our middle school students. The devil wants to devour all teenagers, ages thirteen through nineteen, but God desires all teenagers to find joy in His fold! Right Direction Church International members and friends, as we go into our 20th year of ministry we are looking forward to the continued effort of servanthood towards teenagers with new and innovative ways. I pray I was able to share some of the innovative ways our youth ministry is making an impact in our church, community and ultimately the world with our Senior Pastors Drs. Herbert and Marcia Bailey. We consider it a privilege to serve your teenagers and count it an honor to deliver them a quality ministry filled with faith principles. Our journey towards the mark of excellence in youth ministry is a forever moving target. However, by grace through faith, we can serve teenagers with new and innovative ways.

or any sports team to win a Championship title, each player must work together for the greater good of the team, which some leadership experts would consider to be synergy. This kind of synergy can be described as “accomplishing more by working together,” and since arriving in Florence, SC as the RDCI Campus Pastors, we have witnessed nothing less than synergy in motion. The synergy began at the Florence Campus as members from the headquarter campus rallied together to begin services in Florence over 4 years ago. I believe it is that synergetic atmosphere that has produced the innovative ideas that have allowed us to impact our surrounding area the way that we have. With the direction of our Senior Pastors, Drs. Herbert and Marcia Bailey, our campus has continued to grow and flourish. Drs. Bailey continue to encourage us to use those innovative ideas to help spread the vision of Right Direction to Florence and the surrounding community. Ecclesiastes 4:9 states that “Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labor.” The decision to have a dedicated team of volunteers from our headquarter campus in Columbia to work alongside with our Florence members has provided us with the consistency needed to allow us to minister more effectively to our community. The willingness of the both the Columbia and Florence volunteers to work together produced a synergy that was undeniable and created an atmosphere where the love of God could be shown. Aside from our campus volunteers working together, synergy has impacted the Florence Campus in many different ways. The one that stands out the most is the one that has had the most impact. We were leasing a building in Timmonsville, SC and believing God for a location closer to Florence. With the help of the Right Direction Family as a whole, we were able to purchase a building for the Florence campus in May of 2014, while in the process of preparing to build a Children’s Ministry Facility at the Columbia Campus. God

by Pastors Dwayne & Denise White is Good! And as a result of purchasing this building, we have been able to provide more excellence in ministry. The Children’s Ministry in Florence has also been impacted by synergy and is vibrant and growing. We have had several events to reach the children in our community including Kid’s Day and Hallelujah Night. Members not involved in the Children’s Ministry were willing to volunteer and assist us in helping each event run smoothly. We encourage everyone to volunteer in their area(s) of strength, which keeps them motivated to do their best. We also provide areas of opportunity to allow people to try something new with the knowledge they are taight, so they will have the support they need to be successful. Our membership has also been impacted by synergy, which is shown by our consistent and steady growth. We thank God for our members and evangelism team for spreading the word about the ministry. Members enjoyed the festivities at our New Year’s Eve Celebration and visitors commented that they had never had a church experience like that before. Our volunteers also enjoy connecting at our 2nd Sunday fellowships that are held bi¬monthly. Psalm 133:1 says, “Behold, how good and pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!” These services and events help keep the members excited about church, engaged with the membership and motivated to invite others. Synergy thrives when genuine relationships are formed. As we move forward, we believe synergy and innovation will allow us to impact various parts of our community. We are looking forward to building relationships with our local schools, reaching the elderly in our neighborhood, and advancing the kingdom of God however we can. Our heart’s desire is for the RDCI Florence Campus to be known as a source of God’s love in the city, empowering everyone we come in contact with to walk in freedom and whole life prosperity.

2014 brought many exciting things to the Orangeburg Campus. It was exciting to see 50 people receive or rededicate their life to Christ!! This was accomplished through our local worship services as well as our evangelistic outreach. We were able to bless a number of students in the community with back to school supplies. Throughout the year we were blessed to hear testimonies of financial breakthrough, healing, mended marriages and family restoration. Dr. Bailey declared the year of 2015 as the year of innovation. The joy or benefit of innovation is that it gives us the ability to think of creative ways to accomplish the various aspects of the vision. God has blessed us with people who are bringing great ideas to the drawing board to help us carry out the vision God placed in our senior pastors. Times and technology are consistently changing so we as a local church need to be willing and able to adjust to meet the changing needs of our current demographic. We have been given a great opportunity to share the word of God in Orangeburg County as well as the surrounding areas. The word has the power to change any and every situation an individual may be facing in life!! Some of our members drive as far as 1 hour one way at least twice a week to be a part of our worship service! This speaks volumes of their commitment and love of the word of God. Our goal this year is to use innovation to reach more people, change more lives and continue to change the face of our community. We are excited about the future of RDCI- Orangeburg. I look forward to the creative ideas God is going to continue to give us so we can share the word where it is “rare and precious.

Great things happen when people pursuing the same goal come together to make a difference. That is the value of partnership. Right Direction Ministries uses the amazing vehicle of partnership to empower, establish and mobilize the church to reach our local community through direct outreach and our global community via radio, television broadcasts and live streaming over the internet. As a result of this support Right Direction Ministries is also able to reach out internationally, most recently providing free medical care through Medical Missions efforts in Ghana, West Africa. [I thank my God] for your fellowship (your sympathetic cooperation and contributions and partnership) in advancing the good news (the Gospel) from the first day [you heard it] until now. And I am conviced and sure of this very thing, that He Who began a good work in you will continue until the day of Jesus Christ [right up to the time of His return], developing [that good work] and perfecting and bringing it to full completion in you. Phi 1:5-6 Our Direction Connection Partners experience the power of God in their lives through their covenant connection with Right Direction Ministries. In addition, our partners share and experience the blessing of seeing people set free and delivered. RDM has partners who embrace the vision of “sharing the Word where it’s rare and precious.” Throughout RDM’s history, partners continue to stand with Drs. Herbert and Marcia Bailey by praying for them, the ministry and sowing financial gifts of love. Partners since 2005, Mrs. Sharon D. and her husband shared with us how they were completely “blown away” by the outpouring of love and individual attention received from the congregation and Drs. Herbert and Marcia Bailey during their visits to Right Direction. “We decided to be part of the Partner’s Ministry because we felt it was growing and thriving and were always taught to sow into fertile ground because the blessings that were upon this house (RDCI) will be the same 22 |

blessings on our own house,” Mrs. D shared. The strength of the partnership connection was demonstrated when she received an unexpected phone call from one our prayer counselors after receiving news of a family member who had become seriously ill. An even greater presence of love and care was shown when many of the Right Direction Family and Drs.
