XL Soccer World offers programs and leagues for little Ronaldo’s and Messi’s of all ages, from programs for toddlers as young as 18 months to recreational and competitive leagues for ages 6 to 14. They also offer a fantastic program specifically designed for kids with special needs and an all-girls program with a new Girls Director of Coaching, Olympic Gold Medalist and World Cup Champion Sydney Leroux.

This year, XL Soccer World is also expanding its facility to include two full-size outdoor fields which will play host to international youth tournaments, adult leagues, recreational programs and be an Orlando City Soccer School location.

Hit the Sand with Olympic Champions

In 2020, pro beach volleyball players and Lake Nona residents, Phil and Jennifer Dalhausser, announced a partnership with Lake Nona to launch the Phil Dalhausser Beach Volleyball Academy at Boxi Park. The classes are designed for kids and teens of all skill levels (plus there are adult social leagues if you’re looking to get your own spike on).

Blaze the Trails

With more than 44 miles of paved and unpaved trails to explore, Lake Nona is the perfect spot to hitch up the bikes and go for a ride or a nature walk. Soak in the sights and sounds from the flora and fauna around you or make a scavenger hunt for the kids to keep busy as you enjoy Florida’s natural scenery.

Be the Talk of the Town Center

Lake Nona Town Center is the beating heart of the community, and it’s a hub for families looking to unwind after a long day or week. Start with dinner at Park Pizza & Brewing Co., Bosphorous or Chroma Modern Bar & Kitchen.

The green space is a perfect spot to wait for a table, snag a snap in front of the angel wings mural, or let the kids play while you lounge on one of the patio chairs and soak up the moments of sunshine. At Boxi Park, the playground, pavilion and dog run areas are high priority for kiddos to meet and greet each other and watch their favorite pups play.

Dive into Laureate Park Aquatic Center

It’s hot out there! If you’re a Laureate Park resident, grab the kids, their swimsuits and towels and splash away the day at the Laureate Park Aquatic Center, which recently grew by 17,000 square feet.

There’s a new pavilion for picnicking, and a five-lane lap pool for your little Michael Phelps to practice his butterfly. On land, the half-sized basketball court and beach volleyball courts are perfect for playing before taking a dip.

Learn to Drive

Okay, not in a car, but in one of the bays at Drive Shack Lake Nona. Kids will love competing with each other (and you!) to see how far they can drive the ball. The climate-controlled bays make this a fun outing even in the hot summer months. Inside, kids will find a virtual reality driving range and golf course to practice in the cool of the air conditioning, as well as retro arcade games, basketball, foosball, shuffleboard and more.

Get a Taste for Adventure

Nona Adventure Park is an active kid’s wonderland. With inflatable slides and obstacles, they’ll feel like they’re on an episode of Wipeout while they traverse the cable park, scale the 60-foot climbing tower, swing through the ropes course and more. Water-based sports are a big draw here, and little daredevils can try their balance and participate in a wakeboarding, kneeboarding or waterskiing lesson at Nona Wake.

CREATING & CELEBRATING through Events CULTURE

Year-Round Celebrations Abound

As a bastion of Latin and Hispanic culture, Lake Nona celebrates the culinary history Pineapple Festival, held at Lake Nona Town Center each spring. Merengue and salsa music invite you to dance, filling the outdoor area with festive beats. Kids can join in on the dancing fun and make crafts celebrating the rich heritage of the island. Excite your taste buds with delicious flavors like savory mofongo and refreshing mojitos around every corner. The fun continues late into the night, just like it would if you were in Old San Juan.

Across the pond, Oktoberfest is getting into full swing as Lake Nona Town Center becomes a Bavarian village at the beginning of fall. With live entertainment (polka music, of course), stein hoist competitions and plenty of flowing beer, soft pretzels and bratwurst, Oktoberfest brings the buzzing German festivities to life right here in Central Florida. Park Pizza & Brewing Co., Lake Nona’s hometown brewery, taps special kegs for the event, including the Park Pumpkin Ale and a special Oktoberfest brew.

While Lake Nona celebrates all our favorite major holidays in cheerful fashion, no one can deny that the end-of-year holidays are special. Central Florida’s mostmagical fun begins in early December when Lake Nona Town Center transforms into Peppermint Square during Oh, What Fun! With three weeks of festivities, there’s something new to do each night, like musical performances, a visit to Santa and Mrs. Claus at their cottage, and holiday markets to find the perfect gift for everyone on your shopping list. On the first night of Hanukkah, a rabbi presides over the lighting of the Lake Nona menorah, followed by celebrating the story of the festival of lights. Topped with nightly snowfall, hearts are warm in Lake Nona’s winter wonderland!

Making New Community Traditions

The Lake Nona community is built on values that make it Central Florida’s best place to live: wellness, community connection and innovation being at the top of the list. That’s why Lake Nona strives to create events that give everyone an opportunity to join in on the buzz. Whatever your thing: live music, fitness challenges, mindfulness practice, crafting, and so much more - we have a time and place (just check our events calendar) for everyone to find their crew or try something new.

Each summer, the Great American Block Party brings together neighbors from all walks of life in Lake Nona Town Center. Featuring a full roster of fun for both kids and adults, including street performers, live music and a beer garden for grownups, this block party is an opportunity to meet up with friends and make some new ones. Show off your cornhole meddle, try your luck at classic carnival games, and savor some funnel cake.

The Town Harvest brings Lake Nona together to celebrate the end of summer and usher in fall fun. Pick out the perfect pumpkin at the patch, snap festive photos in front of the beautifully styled fall walls and haystacks, and enjoy live music at Lake Nona Town Center and Boxi Park. There are always delicious fall flavors to indulge in, too. Our can’t-miss autumn staples - the pumpkin cheesecake blondies and apple cider donuts.

Staying active and enjoying the outdoors are also dear to Lake Nona and our community, and the annual Run Nona 5K and Nemours Children’s Run is one tradition everyone looks forward to. All are welcome, whether you’re a seasoned marathoner, or seeking a low-resistance workout with friends, Run Nona is a chance for all skill-levels to get moving. Younger track stars can enjoy the Kids Zone for a full slate of activities, too. After the late afternoon race, the Lake Nona Town Center transforms into a fun-filled block party with live music, delicious food and entertainment for the whole family.

When it comes to the arts, Lake Nona and Central Florida are home to some amazing and exciting artists who we feature at Art After Dark: our very own Friday night art crawl in the Lake Nona Town Center. Check out our murals, the Wave Hotel sculpture garden, and enjoy the famous Lake Nona landmark: the Beacon, by local, internationally renowned artist, JEFRË. Sip on a glass of wine and grab some yummy (and artful!) bites while you stroll the artisan craft market to discover some of your new favorite artists.

Of course, no event is complete without our wonderful community members who bring life and color to Lake Nona every day. Together, our community continues to discover and invent new things to celebrate! A calendar full of fun every week, lasting connections with friends and neighbors, and quality time with your family and memories they’ll never forget.

Art as Therapy

HEALING THROUGH

While traditional cognitivebehavioral therapy is one way to achieve clarity and rehabilitation for mental health ailments, research increasingly points to the value of art and music as healing instruments.

Nemours Children’s Hospital

The music and art therapy programs — known as Creative Arts Therapy — at Nemours Children’s Hospital are staffed by full-time, board-certified music and art therapists that use expressive methods to support children at the hospital.

Children, especially, benefit and thrive when engaged in creative activities. The Creative Arts Therapists at Nemours provide evidence-based interventions with patients to accomplish individual goals, such as stress and pain management, selfexpression, mood regulation, coping skills and addressing other challenges that arise from difficulties that come from hospitalization and illness.

Both music and art therapy utilize unique tools to address these challenges. Some of the interventions that music therapists utilize are instrument play, song writing, singing, and relaxation through music. Art therapists use drawing, painting, clay, guided imagery and other exercises through art materials. To learn more about the Creative Arts Therapy program, visit nemours.org

Orlando VA Medical Center

Our men and women in uniform often return from their duties with mental and physical challenges that can be helped by art and music therapies. The Orlando VA Medical Center helps veterans, specifically, overcome these challenges in addition to or in lieu of traditional therapies.

After time in the military, many service people find it difficult to open up about the experiences they had that contributed to their mental health challenges — particularly post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Art and music therapies used at the Orlando VA here in Lake Nona are specifically designed to help veterans work through their memories and assuage stress, anger and other symptoms of PTSD.

Each year, the Orlando VA Medical Center participates in a Veterans Creative Arts Festival, comprising drama, music, visual art, performing arts, creative writing and photography. The winning submissions from the festival are then sent to the VA’s National Veterans Creative Arts Festival.

In 2020, the Orlando VA also partnered with UCF for a virtual art therapy program during the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. As the pandemic made it difficult for veterans to access the kind of mental healthcare they were used to, these two healthcare pioneers combined forces to make sure our veterans had the support they needed. To learn more about the Orlando VA’s Creative Arts Therapy program, visit va.gov/orlando-health-care/

UCF College of Medicine

Starting shortly after the UCF medical school opened in 2012, students created an art therapy organization called “Arts in Medicine.” The mission: to actively encourage artistic expression in song, written word, artwork and performances as a way to process feelings, empathy and their artistic side for students, faculty and staff at UCF College of Medicine.

From managing stress and treating serious mental health conditions like PTSD and bipolar disorder, self-expression through art and music therapy can reveal much about a patient’s subconscious, allowing them the freedom to work through these challenges and others. Drawing, sculpture, playing an instrument and singing, among other creative pursuits, opens channels in the brain to relieve negativity and stimulate positivity and joy (NIH, APA).

While art and music therapies have existed in the scientific community for decades, many effects of their methods are just being discovered. Here in Lake Nona, our health sciences partners are doing just that.

Every year the students curate a magazine of their work called The Script and produce an annual arts performance showcase in December where students, staff and faculty can perform short plays, songs and readings.

Students, faculty and staff involved in Arts in Medicine also enjoy volunteer opportunities to participate in art therapy at hospitals and clinics throughout Central Florida. To learn more about UCF College of Medicine’s Arts in Medicine program and view the latest edition of The Script, visit med.ucf.edu/arts-in-medicine

Expanding and pushing the boundaries of medical research into a more layered approach is paramount to Lake Nona’s wellness commitment. As these health sciences partners continue their efforts to show the benefit of art and music in the medical fields, they further Lake Nona’s standing as a thought leader in these areas.

“Lake Nona Sculpture Garden is a place ripe for discovery,” said Lake Nona Director of Landscape Architecture Jeff Thompson. “From the variety of Florida-grown palms to the selection of plants and flowers, everything is designed to showcase the artwork. The landscaping has been meticulously planned so guests can discover the sculptures as they walk through the garden. You never know what’s behind the next tree or flowerbed.”

The Sculpture Garden’s layout allows guests to explore at their own pace and preference. Take a stroll through the grounds to enjoy the artwork or make a stop in one of the garden’s unexpected alcoves that feature a mix of soft seating and tables. As the sun sets, the garden comes to life with a coordinated orchestra of multi-hued lighting elements and special nightblooming flowers.

Charging Bull by Arturo di Modica

Charging Bull, often referred to as the “Wall Street Bull,” is a 7,100-pound bronze sculpture by Arturo Di Modica. Originally a work of guerrilla art, the sculpture was created as a symbol of the “strength and power of the American people” following the 1987 stock market crash.

Adjacent to the Wave Hotel, the Lake Nona Sculpture Garden is a 50,000 squarefoot outdoor space designed for the exploration and discovery of a distinguished selection of sculptures from one of the world’s largest private art collections, The Lewis Collection. An elegant and inviting canopy of verdant palms and fragrant flowers surround meandering walking paths through the garden’s signature sculpture collection. The Sculpture Garden is designed to evolve with a rotating collection to keep visitors engaged and introduce new artwork to the community.

From Charging Bull by Arturo di Modica to Mother and Child by Henry Moore, these major and internationally important artists and masterworks of sculpture add so much dimension to the art landscape of Central Florida. Like the Orlando Museum of Art, Dalí Museum in St. Petersburg or the Ringling Museum of Art in Sarasota that also has a large outdoor sculpture collection, Lake Nona is a must-see destination for art lovers.

“We see this space as an extension of the hotel – an outdoor living room,” said Suzie Yang, general manager of Lake Nona Wave Hotel. “It’s a truly one-of-a-kind location for weddings, special events, and so much more. Just like the other iconic art installations in Lake Nona, we love seeing the Sculpture Garden become a backdrop for guests celebrating life’s milestones.

The Sculpture Garden is the latest addition to Lake Nona’s vibrant community art program that is already home to dozens of public art pieces, including murals, digital art and live performances designed to create engaging experiences and stimulate learning.

Residents and visitors to the area can see JEFRË’s work most prominently as the Beacon and Code Wall on the Lake Nona Town Center parking garage and DISCO, the giant, geometric Labrador retriever that greets all as they enter the Town Center.

But before JEFRË started creating public art for Tavistock and Lake Nona, he was a landscape architect. After a serious health crisis, he shifted his focus toward art, entering competitions and quickly rising to acclaim. He won eight of the 12 contests he had entered, and in doing so, discovered a new calling in life.

With that renown on his resume, JEFRË started developing art projects for office buildings, which quickly evolved to include interior art in order to obtain their certificate of occupancy.

Through mutual connections, JEFRË met with Lake Nona master planners originally to create a piece of art to line the stair tower wall of the Town Center garage. But soon the vision grew much larger as Lake Nona explored the opportunity to create a community landmark. Together, they transformed the entire facade of the garage into an art canvas, creating an iconic art installation that represents Lake Nona’s core values of innovation, technology and creativity.

What resulted is now the Code Wall. “From that conversation came the idea of the binary code of 0s and 1s on the side of the building, which spell out words like ‘creativity’ and ‘innovation’ in binary language.” For JEFRË, art and meaning coincide, translating into a business’ themes and values, and Lake Nona’s atmosphere and dedication to those values gave JEFRË, the space to create a masterwork out of what would, in normal circumstances, just be an ugly, bland concrete structure. In Lake Nona, it is JEFRË’s largest art installation.

A secret from the artist: When you through the garage exit, there’s a panel with a

decoder for the binary code. At the bottom right, there’s a long sequence that’s not part of the alphabet. “That’s my name,” says JEFRË. “That’s how I signed the garage.”

This thread of different languages — binary being the language of computers — continues throughout Lake Nona and also informs JEFRË’s artwork on the Wave Garage. Where binary speaks on the Code Wall, braille comes to life on the Wave Garage. The structure is wrapped in an aluminum skin printed with varying sizes of circle cutouts which, translated through the language of touch, spell out keywords from Lake Nona’s mission, such as “inspire” and “connect”, for the keen observer. The DNA Garage is the latest member of this linguistic trilogy, featuring DNA on its exterior: the language of life.

DISCO the Dog is Lake Nona’s “fourlegged” best friend, a 35-foot, 3,100-pound stainless steel sculpture that sits at the southeast entrance to Lake Nona Town Center. DISCO is modeled in a similar style to others of JEFRË’s large-format sculptures while being directly inspired by Lake Nona and the community.

The Lake Nona Sculpture Garden began as an art initiative designed to feature worldrenowned art in an open-air, public setting including pieces from the Lewis Collection. Lake Nona also partnered with JEFRË on this project; the Garden houses his works Faith, Empowerment, Time and Passion. The space invites visitors to explore, reflect, and discover something new.

These pieces of art in the Wave’s lush sculpture garden, along with the rest of the public art installations around Lake Nona, serve as landmarks and community hubs. In the case of the Wave Garage and Lake Nona Town Center Garage, these form the perfect synergy between art and function - places to enjoy convenience and beauty.

To JEFRË, every time he creates a new public art piece for Lake Nona, he’s helping to realize the community’s goals and build toward Lake Nona becoming a “great city.”

Central Florida is full of creatives, and Lake Nona’s dedication to innovation and creativity provides space for creatives to experiment and make their mark on the look, feel and mission of the area. JEFRË agrees, “It’s these sort of people that live here that are making this a world-class city.” And we’re not done yet. As Lake Nona continues to evolve and grow, new opportunities emerge to partner with artists in creating a beautiful and memorable place to live, work, and play.

In Lake Nona, art and architecture are intentionally blended to transform the utilitarian into memorable spaces that let residents know: you’re home.

OUR EXTRAORDINARY ECOSYSTEM

How Lake Nona’s landscape architects are enhancing our area’s wildlife habitat

If you ask Lake Nona’s Director of Landscape Architecture Jeff Thompson, the best way to grow Lake Nona ecosystem is to start small. You may have noticed colorful new flowers and plants located in different pockets around the community from Lake Nona Town Center to Laureate Park. These vibrant plants have been specifically selected to attract mason bees – the queen bee of pollinators. Mason bees are 100x more effective at pollinating than honeybees.

“Mason bees are terrific pollinators and are key to sustaining our ecosystem by helping plants reproduce,” said Thompson. “And they’re solitary unlike honeybees. This makes them much more docile and they can adapt better to a modern suburban environment like Lake Nona.”

But mason bees aren’t the only insects buzzing into Lake Nona. Blooming nectar plants are also attracting butterflies. Did you know that Florida is home to more than 200 species of butterflies? From Monarchs and Swallowtails to Zebra Longwings (our state butterfly), there are so many different species that have a home in Lake Nona. Starting your own at-home butterfly garden is easier than you think. Visit LakeNona.com for some tips from Jeff on how you can build one at home.

Rising above the flowerbeds are the ecosystem’s foundation – trees. And in Lake Nona, we have a lot of them. From conservation areas to new landscaping additions, trees are crucial to a productive ecosystem.

Since 2018, Lake Nona’s tree relocation program has moved more than 600 trees, including oaks, palms, crepe myrtles, and maples, to new homes throughout the community. These mature trees add immediate value to the Lake Nona ecosystem. Thanks to their wide canopies, mature trees provide shade, and nesting and sheltering space for birds, mammals and insects.

In the Lake Nona Sculpture Garden, nearly 300 hand-selected, Florida-grown palm trees joined the Lake Nona ecosystem providing habitats for birds like grackles, wrens and cardinals. In addition to the palms, the garden features climbing vines, fragrant shrubs including ylang-ylang, gardenia and nightblooming jasmine that will bloom seasonally. Beyond the Sculpture Garden, the surrounding meadow features a mix of native plants for pollinators including wildflowers and the Powderpuff Mimosa – a versatile groundcover plant that blooms all summer long with cheerful pink flowers.

Home to more than 1,000 acres of lakes and waterways, the bodies of water in Lake Nona also play a critical role in our community’s ecosystem. To help the lakes and waterways thrive, the Lake Nona landscaping team focuses on planting on the water’s littoral shelf – the area between the body of water and the banks surrounding it. When planted, it creates a fertile border around the water adding to both the function and beauty of the area. In fact, littoral plants are one of the most productive parts of the ecosystem. These plants provide food and shelter for fish and clean the water. As the waterway thrives, it begins to attract larger fish, reptiles, mammals and birds expanding the ecosystem.

They challenged themselves to think outside the box and develop solutions to problems faced by urban and suburban communities for decades. Perhaps most importantly, they set out to develop a place where peaceful residential life, vibrant recreation, and cutting-edge innovation could take place in seamless harmony. In short, a place people love to live, work, stay, and play.

This multifaceted approach to community design and planning – placemaking – is undertaken with the goal of creating a strong connection between people and the

spaces they share and gather. Lake Nona is dedicated to the art of placemaking and developing the cohesive, forward-thinking, beautiful place we warmly call home.

From innovative infrastructure including roads, lighting, and stormwater management, to commissioning public art meant to create beautiful and memorable community icons (or maybe a mix of both), even Lake Nona’s smallest details were purposefully and thoughtfully designed. The ultimate goal of this planning: to create such a seamlessly resilient and enjoyable environment for residents and visitors that Lake Nona living has become second nature.

Preschool:

Arts Education Benefits Even the Littlest Learners

For the littlest creators, preschools begin with easy musical instruments like xylophones and keyboards to start learning about sounds. Singing is also an important part of education for tiny learners. Lake Nona preschools like Amazing Explorers, Goddard School and The Learning Experience place focus on these ideas.

At the Primrose School’s kindergarten, visual and creative arts are intended to stimulate the imagination and creative thinking. The school has a proprietary program called Primrose Early Art Masters where children discover contemporary artists and practice their techniques to create their own masterpieces.

Elementary School: Growing Kids Learn How Art Shapes Their Worlds

Across the three major primary schools in Lake Nona — NorthLake Park Community School, Laureate Park Elementary School and Village Park Elementary School — students learn through music, art and theatrical performances with opportunities to showcase their talents and interests throughout the community.

Field trips to see plays, musical performances, and visits to local museums introduce Lake Nona’s students to the visual and performing arts, too. Through all these mediums, the kids are encouraged to expand their minds and discover new ways to interact with their world and express themselves.

Middle School: Cue the Drama — Arts Programs Enhance Teens’ Lives

A-rated Lake Nona Middle School’s performing arts programs in chorus, band and orchestra are led by experienced artists with decades of experience in performance and music education. Each believes that music is a lifelong skill that all children should have access to, and lead their programs with excellence in mind, consistently garnering accolades from local and state competitions and festivals.

Middle school students with interest in visual arts also have the opportunity to choose a Fine Arts elective during their academic semesters including a 2D or 3D visual art class or creative photography class using digital or traditional photography methods. Student art is often shown throughout the campus to highlight students’ works, giving these middle school artists the opportunity to share with their peers and develop a sense of pride and ownership in their talents.

High School: Arts Education as a Window to the Future

The A-rated Lake Nona High School gives students the opportunity to get a head start on college with its partnership with Valencia College, offering students the opportunity to complete an A.A. degree during their time in high school.

Lake Nona High School also offers more than 20 performing arts classes and clubs, including music theory and stagecraft classes, guitar and piano classes and four different choral performance groups. The theater department at Lake Nona High School brings both contemporary and classical performances to the stage, most recently with “Something Rotten,” a contemporary take on Shakespeare’s Hamlet.

Outside of performing the halftime show during football season, the Sound of the Lions marching band at Lake Nona High School also shows off their skills at parades, pep rallies, events around Lake Nona and at events statewide. Participating in the band allows students a strong sense of community along with developing their technical performance skills.

The visual arts are also a main part of Lake Nona High School’s curriculum, with a dozen different classes ranging from art history and drawing to ceramics and painting. The Visual Arts Department strives to provide students with the opportunity to create and discover in an enriching and educational environment.

Post-Secondary Education: When the Arts and Career Preparedness Collide

The original plans for Lake Nona focused on the area as a hub for higher learning and advancement in technology and healthcare. It should be no surprise, then, that both the UCF Health Sciences Campus, which includes the College of Medicine, Burnett School of Biomedical Sciences and newly opened UCF Lake Nona Hospital, and the UF Research and Academic Center, home to the UF College of Pharmacy, are located in Lake Nona.

Additionally, the UCF College of Medicine’s Arts in Medicine student organization provides opportunities for students, faculty and staff to integrate art and science. Art and music therapy are shown to be beneficial to healing patients, and exploring these integrations allows students to further understand whole-person care and the accompanying benefits of art and music to providers as well as patients.

Phlex, leAD Lake Nona Accelerator Alum, Leads the Lane in Swimming Wearable Tech

Lake Nona’s leAD Sports & Health Tech Accelerator program, a premier platform for nurturing startups in the sports and health technology industries, proudly showcased its first class of startups in May 2021. The program concluded with a Demo Day at Boxi Park, featuring a celebration attended by wellness icon Deepak Chopra, among other industry leaders.

Over the course of six months, the accelerator’s partnership with Lake Nona helped elevate these startups to new heights. The selective and rigorous cohort program provided mentorship, collaboration opportunities, and a supportive community for startups like Fort Lauderdale-based Phlex. The company has been revolutionizing personal fitness tracking for swimmers through innovative hardware and software systems.

Phlex’s founders, which include Olympian Marcin Cieslak, started the company out of frustration with the lack of innovation and accessibility in swimming tech compared to sports like running and cycling. As CEO, Cieslak has led the company to develop software, that includes both mobile apps for everyday swimmers and a data analysis platform for teams, that tracks important swimming metrics and synchronizes with popular wearables like the Apple Watch and Polar Verity Sense.

In exciting news, Cieslak also announced Phlex’s partnership with Polar, a leader in the sports technology industry. The collaboration merges Phlex’s swim tracking technology with Polar’s affordable and reliable wearable devices, such as the Polar Verity Sense. Cieslak expressed enthusiasm for the partnership and how it helps Phlex in it’s mission to bring innovation to the entire swimming market.

COO Harrison Gibson emphasized the importance of their work, stating, “Teams and coaches need better access to the right kinds of data, with analysis backed by sports science and physiology. Our goal is to provide that access, empowering swimmers to reach their full potential.”

Other software ignores technique metrics like stroke rate, distance per stroke and stroke efficiency, while Phlex places an

emphasis on those and other key data points. Unique to the market, Phlex aggregates and converts this information into easy to understand and actionable insights that support swimmers and coaches in their training regiments.

“We are not only building a data product, but also a community driven platform that helps you stay engaged with your swimming,” said CMO Ryan Rosenbaum. “That means taking our current industry-validated tracking technology, adding an engagement layer through rewards, leaderboards and daily challenges, and bundling that all up within a social platform.” Rosenbaum says that regardless of whether you’re just starting out on your swimming journey or training for an Olympic medal, with Phlex you can be part of a community that is behind you every step of the way.

Phlex cherishes its connection to the Lake Nona community. CEO Marcin Cieslak expressed his appreciation, saying, “Being part of the Lake Nona community has been incredibly beneficial for the growth of Phlex. We’re grateful for the opportunities, resources, and support we’ve received here.”

Following their time in the leAD Lake Nona program, Phlex has continued to evolve through the stages of startup growth as they accelerate their technology development and increase their footprint. In addition to securing key investors, they have also received notice from top journalists, including being featured in Swimming World, Wareable, and The Wall Street Journal.

As a community founded on health, wellbeing, human performance, business innovation and education, Lake Nona’s network of both established muti-national businesses and entrepreneurial startups makes the leAD Lake Nona Sports & Health Tech Accelerator program second to none for sports and fitness entrepreneurs looking to take their product and business to the next level. Combining the innovation and athletics background of leAD with Lake Nona’s exceptional infrastructure to support startups like Phlex, future cohorts will join a legacy of innovation and excellence in their fields.
