The Temple Chamber of Commerce is excited to host the third annual Polar Texas Bottling Summer Sizzle “Seltzer”. The event takes place on Friday, August 4, 2023, in the Santa Fe Plaza, 301 Santa Fe Way, in Temple. This free, family-friendly community event coincides with First Friday in Downtown Temple. It is an evening of live music, food trucks, an outdoor market, and fun for the entire family from 6:00 - 9:30 pm.
Polar Texas Bottling is bringing the “Chill” to Summer Sizzle “Seltzer” sharing their New England roots with Central Texas.
Founded in Worcester, Massachusetts, in 1882 by a savvy bartender, Denis Crowley recognized an opportunity in carbonation as Prohibition began to rumble in New England. He crafted what he considered the best-tasting bubble recipe and began selling sparkling beverages from a horse-drawn carriage.
Today, Polar Beverages remains owned and operated by the Crowley family’s fourth and fifth generations, under the leadership of President and CEO Ralph Crowley Jr. They are the largest independent beverage company in the United States. They are purveyors of premium quality sparkling beverages, including Polar® Seltzer, heritage sodas, and Polar Orange Dry®.
Food trucks and vendors for the outdoor market will be set up along Santa Fe Way and in the Plaza beginning at 6:00 pm. Live music by Michael Carubelli Music will begin at 7:30 pm in the Plaza Greens. Lawn chairs or blankets are welcome to use while enjoying the music.
Michael Carubelli is an original Texas Artist - Singer/ Songwriter, based out of Central Texas. His music is a good time mixed with Country and Rock n' Roll. Michael first set off in 2012 with the release of his EP - Here We Go. Alongside a full band of brothers, they make up the Michael Carubelli Band. Together, they have shared the stage with many other Texas Music acts to include Aaron Watson, Brandon Rhyder, Roger Creager, Wade Bowen, Kevin Fowler, Eli Young Band, Kyle Park, Sean McConnell, Jon Wolfe, Whiskey Myers, Cory Morrow, Casey Donahew Band and many more. In 2018, Michael released his full-length album entitled, 'The Hustle'.
Summer Sizzle “Seltzer” is proudly supported by Polar Texas Bottling, American Legion Post #133, McLane Company, BusR, LLC, R&R Roofing, Hill & Wilkinson General Contractors, Reynolds Consumer Products, Flintrock Builders, and Ludwick, Montgomery & Stapp, PC.
Polar Beverages invites you to sip into their world on August 4, 2023, at this free, family-friendly event. Visit templechamber.com/summerseltzer for more information.

Small Business Connect Seminar: Marketing & E-Commerce Tools
Temple Chamber of Commerce Staff
Local business owners, pictured above from left to right, Paul Carr (Paul Carr Consulting), H.B. Macey (Perry Office Plus), Gram Short (Bulldog Auto Detailing), and Jacob Rodriguez (Dapper & Dashin’ Salon), led a panel discussion moderated by City of Temple Communications Manager Lindsay Francis for the Chamber’s June 27, 2023, Small Business Connect Seminar.
The discussion was a deeper dive into a session presented at the Governor’s Small Business Summit earlier this year. Each panelist described tactics and tools they use to attract customers and measure the performance of their marketing dollars.
“We began funneling our Facebook ads to our website, which led to more qualified leads and higher conversion rates,” shared Gram Short, owner of Bulldog Auto Detailing.
Consultant Paul Carr suggests taking small but significant steps, such as adding a Facebook pixel to your website for better tracking of prospects and customers who come to your website via the social platform.
“You want to look for opportunities to show the customer experience,” advised Jacob Rodriguez of Dapper & Dashin’ Salon, noting that salons are notorious for

taking videos and pictures of the back of clients’ heads. “Capture their smiling faces after your services. That’s what really conveys the experience.”
H.B. Macey of Perry Office Plus touts their customer service as a key component of how the business markets itself. Macey acknowledges Perry Office Plus cannot compete with Amazon, although the online behemoth is considered a direct competitor in the sale of office supplies.
“We identified where Amazon has weaknesses and made them our strengths,” he continued. He pointed out that while you can order office furniture on the website, Perry Office delivers and installs your office design. Perry Office also has dedicated account managers that keep a pulse on what their clients purchase to learn more about what they’re not buying from Perry and why.
Small Business Connect is a quarterly breakfast series aimed at business owners seeking to connect with and gain knowledge from proven, successful business leaders. Join us in September for the next one. Check the Chamber calendar for dates.

Celebrating Entrepreneurship: Second Launch Temple Cohort Graduates
Temple Chamber of Commerce Staff
The Rotary Club of Temple, the Rotary Club of Temple-South, Temple College, and the Temple Chamber of Commerce recently celebrated the completion of the second cohort of Launch Temple. Eleven aspiring entrepreneurs graduated from the 10-week program on June 22, 2023.
The 2023 Launch Temple graduates are: Andre Bailey, Larry Carter, Sandra Escalante, Michael Garcia, Candace Green, Preston Griffith, Janet Lopez, Natalie McAdams, Keia Meyer, Emily Smith, and Jamie Smith.
Launch Temple is part of the LaunchMyCity family of programs, modeled after LaunchDETROIT (Michigan) and LaunchRALEIGH (North Carolina).
LaunchMyCity is a program of Rotary International, the community service and global humanitarian organization located in over 200 countries. The program strives to develop successful entrepreneurs by expanding access to comprehensive business training and financial and business resources.
Launch Temple is a collaborative effort between the two Temple Rotary Clubs, Temple College and the Temple Chamber of Commerce, which provides training, mentorship, and networking to cultivate local entrepreneurs.
The program is offered at no cost to qualified applicants and held at Temple College. The curriculum is through LaunchMyCity, with Temple College staff,
Rotary Members, and business community volunteers providing instruction.
The program has eight training sessions with topics including Business Models, Market Research, Funding, Legal Strategy, Marketing and Branding, and more. The participants are also matched with a Mentor to help them navigate the journey of an entrepreneur.
Some of the program participants did so to strengthen an existing business. Others participated to gain a great foundation to start their business on the right foot.
The Temple Chamber of Commerce would like to congratulate the graduates of the second cohort of Launch Temple!
