Classroom Quizzes - An Over view Overview This book is designed to stimulate and motivate children in the areas of English, Maths, HSIE/S & E, Science and General Knowledge through a challenging and exciting quiz format. Each quiz sheet consists of 5 levels, with each level becoming progressively more difficult. On each level the children are required to complete 4 questions, one from each of the above mentioned areas.

r o e t s Bo r e p ok u S

The children must begin at Level 1 and work up the page through each level. There are two possible scoring options:

ew i ev Pr

Teac he r

Most of the questions are in multiple choice format.

1) Points are scored as indicated - 1 point for Level 1 and up to 5 points for Level 5 questions. Scores are recorded at the top of the page. 2) This option adds a risk element in that children have to score 2 questions right to be eligible to move to the next level. They still have a go at answering the whole sheet but when correcting they can only score from a level if they have at least 2 answers right from the previous level.

© ReadyEdPubl i cat i ons Level 1: 3 questions right (3 points) •f orr evi ew pur posesonl y•

For example Child A might score as follows: Level 2: 4 questions right (8 points)

w ww

Level 4: 1 question right (4 points)

m . u

Level 3: 2 questions right (6 points) Level 5: 2 questions right (0 points) because he/she did not get the minimum 2 questions right in Level 4.

. te

o c . che e r o t r s sup r Whilst most of the content fits in with thee four Key Learning Areas of Maths, Whilst this option may appear a bit harder it appeals greatly to the children because there is some added pressure and risk-taking involved. It can be likened somewhat to TV shows like “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?” where players have to take risks to go further ahead.

English, Science and HSIE/S & E, every sixth quiz is on General Knowledge to add variety and maintain a broad spectrum of questions. We hope that children will enjoy the challenge of “Classroom Quizzes”.
