The activities contained in this book allow teachers to meet the requirements of relevant curriculum documents with regard to English. The book provides opportunities for the consolidation of English language skills that children should be equipped with as a result of their elementary schooling. As shown in the Contents below the approach is basic and simple – teach the skill; reinforce it in a variety of ways; use it in context as often as possible. To help the consolidation process wall charts have been provided on the concepts treated in this book – it is suggested that they are enlarged and displayed as a constant reference point for the class.

“It’s been a crazy morning,” she complained. “Joan went to the shop, and left her bike outside, next to Jeffry’s bike. Jeffry said that Tom could borrow his bike while he was in the shop, and Tom came out and took Joan’s bike by mistake. Then Joan came out and took Mary’s bike, thinking it was hers. We all thought that Mary’s bike and been stolen, until Joan realized that she had the wrong bicycle, and THEN we thought that Joan’s bicycle had been taken. Anyway, when Tom came back with Joan’s bike, we realized what had happened. Mary was so angry that she stomped on Tom’s foot.
