Children love to solve problems and puzzles. The words in these puzzles have been hidden horizontally and vertically, both forwards and backwards. Often shared letters have been included to further extend the search. The word searches can be used as an introduction to more meaningful tasks and extension activities tasks that require and encourage the use and application of skills. These might include researching, mapping, summarising, graphing, sequencing, comparing and many other sub-skills.

range of language based activities that will prove challenging and stimulating for students. They will provide extension in such areas as vocabulary, general knowledge, history and geography. Blank grids are provided on the last page of this book so the students can compile their own word searches.
