La Signora Cristina va al macellaio. “Buon giorno, Signor. Cosa ha di buono oggi?” domanda. “Buon giorno, Signora.

What have you today?” she asks. “Good morning, Madam. I have lovely fresh sausages,” says the butcher. “Very well, may I have a kilogram of sausages?” answers Mrs Cristina. A dog smells a lovely aroma. He looks and sees a lady with a basket full of sausages. “Mmmm, what a magnificent smell! It is making me very hungry,” thinks the dog. The dog follows the lady. Slowly, slowly he bites into the sausages with his teeth. He hears a voice screaming,“Lady, look behind you! You have lost something.” “What a sticky beak,” thinks the dog. “Why doesn’t he mind his own business?”

Mr Antonio wakes up early every day (at 5 in the morning). He prepares his trusting horse Gigio and goes to the market. Mr Antonio has been buying and selling bananas for 25 years; he is known by everyone at the market and by many people in the city. He has a stall near the big bank in the city. There is no traffic there, but people pass near the stall every day. “Bananas. Beautiful bananas - only $1.50 a kilo. Come and see the bananas,” screams Mr Antonio. On a good Sunday, Mr Antonio sells 20 or more cases of bananas, but when it rains he doesn’t sell many. When his day is finished, Mr Antonio packs away his stall, hops onto his cart and Gigio takes him home.
