What is the Difference?

Many animals in the world look similar but are in fact very different from their relatives. Read these facts about turtles and tortoises.

Turtles: • have paddle-shaped flippers; • live most of their life in tropical waters; • are carnivorous; and • come ashore only to breed and lay eggs.

Sea Shells Shells are the hard coverings of the bodies of molluscs and crustaceans. The shells you find along the shore once belonged to these sea creatures that have died or outgrown their tiny homes.

A Sea Diorama

Follow these instructions to make your diorama.

You will need: • an empty shoe box with lid • scissors and glue • crayons or paints • stiff white cardboard

To Make a Sea-snake

Follow these instructions to make your sea-snake.

You will need: • six small cardboard tubes • wool • crayons • masking tape

1. Draw a snake head on one tube and a snake tail on another of the tubes.

3. Tape a long piece of wool to the tail tube and thread through the tube.
