BREAK /

SEM01 / 2017 Break was one of the first projects that allowed us to completely design for ourselves and clientele. Break is an interactive event located on Sydney’s Garden Island. Given the brief to explore the concept of a theatre within a restricted space, it was our job to promote a performance that is so unreal and fabricated, many of the technologies integrated into the event aren’t produced in our time as of now, such as robot arms lifting solid structures and VR that is capable of transforming interiors and exteriors. Break challenges the idea of theatre and transforms it’s ordianry function into game of prison break, where the audience no longer observes the performance, they ARE the performance.

COLLECTOR’S HOUSE / SEM01 / 2015

This project explored the relationship in design between identity, domesticity and landscape through a proposed residence. Each wall of the collector’s house has it’s own character and by using triangles as the key shape, this sense of folding is clear and easy to distinguish. Using geometrics, also adds a delirium quality as it feels like the walls and roof are trapping you in. The pathway connected to the collector’s house appears like an unfolded shape, geometrically weaving over the soft landscape and subtle alternate heights. These varying heights can be unrealistic, however they allow for another level of abstraction, whilst also giving an interaction for the visitors who may enjoy the entertaining twists and turns the pathway exhibits. By using harsh, folded shapes, it presents a strong contrast with the curved landscape, whilst also complementing the basement home of the collector. 9

MURRIN BRIDGE SPORTS COMPLEX / SEM02 / 2016

13

The Murrin Bridge studio intended to adaptively reuse, alter and add to the former health clinic in the town of Murrin Bridge, NSW to create a community center suitable for holding community events, programs and hosting a range of service providers. In conjunction with the community centre, the Murrin Bridge Sports Ground was revived. This design includes a complete revamp of the sports oval, basketball court and cricket nets along with a newly built rec centre dedicated to community and sport. The concept is inspired by the surrounding earth, renewable design and community influence. The new community space will give the general public a chance to experience facilities that they don’t have access to on a daily basis. These new facilities a canteen, outdoor hall, playground and sporting amenities will give the community a chance to come together, communicate, relax and learn.

SIMMER RESTAURANT / SEM01 / 2017

This project entails the generation of a two level, 7x7m Japanese inspired foam restaurant, located primarily in the apline forest. As an explorative studio that encourages out of the box thinking, this design was produced through collaging techniques, extensive unpacking of mechanisms and systems and group collaboration. The idea is completely conceptual and is still in development, however the representation of this space gave us the ability to produce a unique and engaging piece. This proposal aimed to push our expectation and let us indulge in a graphic form that we can begin to build on and extend in the coming semester.

FLOATING PODS / SEM01 / 2016

Floating Pods concentrates on creating the idea of a “functional sculpture” aesthetic through redesigning Fovo Studios in Surry Hills into a residential space of transformable micro apartments. The key idea is to produce 27sqm hanging, dislodged spaces that provide the necessities to live comfortably, create a fresh insight to the apartment lifestyle and to also provide the individual with a sense of creativity and simplicity much to the liking of Le Corbusier’s Unite’ D Habitation’s innovative qualities. In a bid to control the balance of tranquility and motion within both the communal area, much like the Sharifi-Ha House, the use of technology and movement completely alters the amount of light and heat that enters the abode. This project opposes the envelope and presents a contemporary and radical form of interior through interaction, materiality and spatiality. 21

THE GOODS LINE HUB / SEM01 / 2015

The opportunity to follow a brief to reappropriate a specific space into a social hub was the aim of this design. The Goods Line, similar to the High Line in New York, was the canvas for this project. By choosing a spot of the proposed Goods Line, we were asked to develop a pavilion that can accommodate certain programs, including a library, communal kitchen, bathroom, an outdoor space and seating areas. This design was free form and required us to explore our style in design and materiality, thus why this concept is purely based on form and structure. The space is open and creates an alternate way through the Goods Line, whilst also creating a public area for all ages of the community to socialise, relax and blur the lines between daily life and nightlife.
