Lutz Lake Fern Suncoast Ride April 20 May 19 June 15 July 14 August 17 September 15 October 12
These rides will be in the 15-25 mile range. They will vary in locations. The goal is to develop skills in riding, especially with a group. There will be a experienced team member that will agree to keep the beginner rider on track to the end of the ride. There is no excuse to say you have to be stronger or more experienced. the point of these rides is to help the beginner or novice athlete become a triathlete and elevate skills in riding for the beginning triathlete.
Pensacola Triathlon 2013 I just came back from Pensacola this weekend and raced the 2nd Annual Pensacola Triathlon. It was a small race; about 250 athletes. Both Tara and I raced the sprint distance. We swam in calm waters at Quietwater Beach then rode along Pensacola Beach and finally ran through a small neighborhood. We both had a great time here and found that there are some really fast racers in the panhandle. Jason Casuga at 00:54:44 and Tara at 1:17:27
Ft DeSoto Duathon ft. Desoto series #1 duathon- 1:09:19 -AG 1st place. Cooper Calvo Chris Reynolds 1st in my division and 21st overall at the FD3 sprint with a total time of 1:02:41. Pics from the top of the podium to come.

Ironman 70.3Florida 2013 Haines City Hugo Scavino What Makes This Race Different? Ok this is not your typical Florida race. First you are swimming in a lake. No Sharks but occasionally they have to shoo away a stray alligator; but that was so 2012. And because there is not enough real estate to make a 1.2 mile swim, you zig-zag your swim in the shape of an M. Actually an M dot. Weird but true. This has the effect of always feeling you are lost. So lots of sighting needed and when you turn around in the bottom of the M every fast swimmer in the wave behind you swims over top of you in a mad dash to scoot through the goalposts. Needless to say get used to lots of inappropriate touching and randomly kicking a swimmer in the mouth. Sorry. But that is not all. Who said Florida was flat? There are hills out there. The first 20 or so bike miles are a gleeful siren pulling you in. You think this is not bad and who is scared of a few
in a row just to remind you that Florida is not a giant sandy pancake. Oh well, the 3 run loops break down the 13.1 into sizable chunks. This year we had extra residents with hoses. I could hug everyone of them if it did not affect my already miserable run split. Thank you people of Haines City.
hills. But then after a few steep roads and 18 more miles of false flats and rollers you will regret not training more for ‘dem hills. Make sure Clermont or San Antonio are on your training menu otherwise it’s going to be a long day. The run too is a bit of a surprise. At mile 1, guess what a big fat hill! Yes 2
Now here is where it gets really good. While there are no cheering fans on the bike course to speak of, the run course is full of loud crowds and totally awesome volunteers. Those are some special people to hang out in 90+ degree summer day and hand out all those needed goodies to the ever slowing throngs of runners. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Memorable Events that Happened on This Day Goggles snap off. Not mine but a good friends. My wife ran a 6 minute mile and retrieved my spare after I handed mine off to Teresa. Hooray number 1 wife! Why would you wear three running waters bottles on your running belt on the bike?
How do you make it up all those hills without bike shoes? This year every man in a speedo deserved to be wearing one. Hazah speedo dude. You rocked it. Who I Saw There Glimpses of Patrick, Hung out with Teresa G. and Amanda M, Richard L was there. The Scavino fav Shoe Store peeps Brian B. and Jacob manned the Newton shoe booth. Many from 2012 did not return. I guess there was a Lance factor. Next Steps At mile six of the run, I said never again. After the race I just wanted a shower and bed. Today… well there is an Olympic in West Palm on June 1 with Vicki and the Chevel krew… Hugo Scavino : 6:47. A 26 minute improvement over last year's performance. And still freakin' hot First 1/2 completed at florida im 70.3, time 6:57 Pat horan

Hi Everyone: Attached you will find the Bib List for Raleigh. I am sure we are missing athletes because everyone of our races so far this year has had over 400 members registered. Please let me if we are missing any athletes from your group and I will get them added. We will also have a table located in Athlete Registration where your members can check in with us and we can get you into the roster before the race starts. Club registration will close as soon as on-site registration closes. I will not be able to add athletes after that – sorry! Good luck everyone!! BTW please remember that we have added the Tri Clubs to the awards ceremony. It’s worth hanging around if you think your club may have won the division.
