Kevin Drury I had a great time in Kentucky! Great city, hard course. Not my best ironman, hills and 90+ degree heat got to me on the run. Steep inclines on the bike, some rough roads and 2 flats. Finished 14th in age group. I will take that an be happy. This course is a true test physically and mentally. I am thankful for all the support I received in Louisville and from all the people who logged on an followed me live on iroman.com. It really means a lot. Next 70.3 ironman World Championship in 10 days in Vegas, can't wait. Since it was first held in Louisville, Kentucky in 2007, this race quickly became a signature event for the charm-filled city. This quintessential North American race provides athletes and spectators with endless entertainment, dining and recreational opportunities— and, with its 50 slots, is the last qualifying event for the IRONMAN World Championship in KailuaKona, HI.
Steeped in American history and part of the country's historic Bluegrass region, Louisville is home to stately Victorian mansions and a vibrant urban parks system. In recent years, it's attracted a thriving indie music scene, and families vacationing to the city will find plenty of free summer concerts and festivals along the famous Waterfront Park. Athletes begin their day with a rolling swim start, a unique feature for a full-distance IRONMAN and a welcome one for anyone nervous about the typical mass start. After lining up along the banks of the Ohio River on a first come, first served basis, competitors jump in one at a time to start the first leg of their 140.6-mile race. Upon exiting the water, you'll head into transition located on the Great Lawn, the centerpiece of Waterfront Park, before heading off for 112 miles of
scenic biking. A mixture of rolling hills and flat pastures characterizes the Louisville bike course, and riders can expect to be challenged as they traverse the Louisville Metro area and Oldham County. As part of the two-loop portion of the course, La Grange gives athletes a boost of energy: They can expect to be greeted here by thousands of cheering spectators and volunteers. After finishing the bike, athletes only have one thing separating them from their memorable finish: 26.2 miles of flat running. Passing Churchill Downs, home of the famous Kentucky Derby, and the University of Louisville, there's no shortage of distractions. The two-loop run course comes to a close with Fourth Street Live's energetic welcome. Originally from: http:// www.ironman.com/triathlon/events/ americas/ironman/ louisville.aspx#ixzz2dgjbFGBi
The final event of TriRock season, Clearwater is a must visit destination where you can finish your triathlon season on the Gulf area’s white sand beaches. Featuring a unique venue, all of the action takes place at Pier 60 with an outdoor Health & Fitness Expo and family friendly event activities. The course boasts a single loop swim in the Gulf of Mexico, followed by a flat, single loop bike course that takes athletes through the sites of downtown Clearwater and ends with a scenic run finishing back at Pier 60. Our Featured Race within a Race is the Triathlon Club Challenge where the top 10 clubs based on number of registered participants receive a pre/post race area. SPRINT Mark Davis

Jose & Ann Lopez, Nicole Davis,
Last year Team Psych finished 3rd Place. Another team in Tampa had incorrectly been placed in our division when they claimed to be in the under two hundred member category. The same week they listed themselves with USAT magazine with over four hundred. This competition is a team competition. So sign up and help us kick butt!
This Just In… Saturday Practice Swim for Longleaf Triathlon On Saturday, Oct 12, our Swim Committee will open the lake for athletes who want to “test the waters” in the Longleaf Lake. If you like to do a test run of the full course, this is your opportunity. The specific times will be in the next Longleaf Triathlon e-blast. Also, it will be posted on our website in a few weeks. Hope to see you there!

Not bad for being sick the week before. It was great to see Chris B. volunteering, he gave me a nice talk before the swim, saw him out on the run which helped me to keep going, and he was a huge help and support at the finish line. Leave no bike behind Leave no Triathete behind Saturday at the Courage to Tri Triathlon one of our members John Green went down on the bike. A fall resulted in brief unconsciousness and he was taken to the E R and fortunately discharged. Upon coming to his senses John inquired as all triathletes about the wellness of his bicycle. Fortunately for John, a team member and good Samaritan, Michael GR gathered his bike and helmet since John was clearly not going to make it back in time for the award ceremony, much less transition breakdown.
LONGBOAT KEY TRIATHLON Located on the majestic and world famous Longboat Key Club and Resort. Somebody help this guy!
Ironman Sweden - 11:52:30. 11th out of 38 geezers in the M5559. What a beautiful location to take a beating like a good pirate! The water was cold and they swam us through a very narrow channel twice so the spectators
could watch the cage match below them...pow, wham, slam, ow! I survived the 2.4 mile slugfest and got on my bike for 112 miles of riding in a constant strong wind. Most of the course was on the island of Oland (the isle of sun
and WIND) and included a scary 6 mile bridge over and back at a strong lean. I saw some folks on the run with serious road rash and later read about people being blown right off the bike. After 90 miles I was so tired of fighting the wind and ready to get off the bike. Finally made it back into Kalmar to start the death march. I actually was jogging pretty good the first 8 miles of the marathon, then just seemed to run out of gas. We tromped through the medieval city and cobblestones 3 times on the course with tremendous crowd support. Heja, Heja, Heja was the Swedish word of the day (go, go, go!). After suffering through about 16 miles and mentally swearing off any further Ironman racing, I found a small second wind -- well maybe it was my seventh wind -- but I picked it up enough to keep the end result under 12 hours. The finish was spectacular in the old town square next to the Kalmar Cathedral (built in the early 1600s). You only get 16 hours to complete an Ironman in Europe, so we went back out at 11pm to watch the last couple of finishers and the fireworks that followed. My pirate booty for this trip consists of my 6th IM finishers medal, a finishers polo shirt, and the finishers jacket and other merchandise I picked up at the
expo...I am such a sucker for this stuff. Oh yeah, I have signed up for another Ironman! Paul Hough
