WHAT'S BREWING IN STEWARDSHIP
It's been a busy summer for Team Stewardship. Since our last issue of The Stew, we've been 'tween the hedges of both the Sanford Stadium Locker Room Lounge and the State Botanical Garden! We've discussed the Donor Experience and Legacy Giving Survey, Commit to Georgia campaign closing marketing, individual donor impact tips and tricks, ThankView, and a peek into Bulldog Club stewardship. As always, our Stewie community would not be as effective without your enthusiasm and gratitude. Our meetings continue to foster more collaboration and spearhead the trajectory of our profession at UGA. Thank you for learning and growing with us!

COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING ram Donor Prog First Time
KIM BROWN
First time Engineering donors receive a postcard with tech stickers signed by a student. The same student then records a ThankView video to complete the story. Students thank the donor by name and speak to the impact of the fund that the donor supported. ip Stewardsh Scholarship
Engingeering scholarhip donors receive stewardship touches in the fall and spring each year. In the fall, recipients send personal notes to their donor(s) encouraging attendance at the fall luncheon. In the spring, donors receive an update though ThankView to reiterate impact and introduce students to donors who were not able to attend the luncheon.

A LITTLE GOES A LONG WAY! THE POWER OF PERSONAL EMAILS
Upon noticing a recent gift from a donor who had not been engaged with the College in several years, College of Ag reached out personally to see what might have initiated the gift. The donor responded warmly with a backstory including a multi-generational relationship with the College. This "little" touch is the sort of stewardship retains donors and reminds them that their gifts are meaningful.

DONOR EXPERIENCE & LEGACY GIVING SURVEY LEEANN HASKINS, MEGAN POWELL & MELISSA LEE
What type of stewardship do you find meaningful? Letters with scanned signatures are a joke. -$25,000+ Donor
Anything from students or administration is always great, but it needs to feel personal. -$4,000,000+ Donor
Christmas cards, birthday cards, and personal relationships are essential. Don't just take the money and run. -$84,000+ Donor
The Donor Experience and Legacy Giving Survey was delivered to over 88,000 donors in June 2019. Thanks to a strong collaboration between Alison Godley, Clint Travis, Megan Powell, Melissa Lee, Buck Sharp, and Ally Hellenga, the Division's knowledge of Qualtrics surveys grew ten-fold. The survey received an over 2.5% response rate, which is double the expected rate for mass surveys. Overall results were very positive and were shared at the August meeting of Team Stewardship. Deeper dives into stewardship, recognition, and planned giving responses will be shared at Team Stewardship meetings over the next year. None of this would have been possible without the work of our summer graduate student, LeeAnn Haskins. LeeAnn is a PhD candidate in psychology and learned about our need for a survey administrator through the Graduate School's new PDx Progam. LeeAnn was able to put her psychology skills to the test to help us create a user-friendly survey for donors. She also analyzed and drafted insightful reports for each donor group that will be shared with the Division in November!

BULLDOG CLUB MICHELLE JONES & CAT HIRES
Bulldog Club stewards donors through five giving societies recognizing endowed funds, annual giving, lifetime giving, and planned giving. While Bulldog Club has almost endless opportunities to steward their donors through experience, Michelle and Cat shared that working with athletics guidelines and athletics donors can make for a very reactive lifestyle. They also debunked several myths between the hedges, like the rumors that all student-athletes are given scooters and Georgia Florida location is changing next year.

PERSONALIZED STEWARDSHIP JORDAN DOTSON & MELISSA LEE Donor Relations and Stewardship could not produce anything personal without the help of schools, colleges, and units. Without your relationships and understanding of your donor and college culture, we cannot thank our donors who give to multiple units in meaningful, individualized ways! This means that a lot of our work is often wrangling information from our colleagues across the university. Here are a few ways that you can help UGA thank our top donors:
PRESIDENTIAL BRIEFINGS The President's Office uses various briefing formats for occasions of different sizes, ranging from a full-page biography for one-on-one meetings to snapshot briefings for football games. That means Development prepares 100s of these for just one event! Help us out by using the templates provided. Imagine reformatting that many word documents... yuck!
INDIVIDUAL IMPACT BOOKS When Donor Relations is creating a personalized impact report, your unit has the opportunity to shine in one or two full spreads. Give us everything you can imagine, from photos of events to thank you notes from multiple students. The more the merrier!
