Product Overview
Near Field Communication (NFC) is a collection of wireless communication protocols that enable two electronic devices to interact as well as transfer information. This technology operates at a frequency band of 13.56 Megahertz (MHz) on the air interface ISO/IEC 18000-3 for identification of passive Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) items, and allows contactless communication between two electronic devices at a distance of under 10 cm.

Product Overview
Reader/Writer Emulation: This mode of NFC enabled communication permits electronic devices to either read or write on passive NFC tags implanted on business cards, retail products, etc. NFC tags are powered through electromagnetic induction from electromagnetic rays emitted by the device attempting to read or write the NFC tag.
Card Emulation: Card emulation enables the user to transform his/her smart devices into smart cards, which allows him/her to use smart devices as virtual smart cards (debit/credit cards, loyalty cards, etc.). NFC enabled devices use host-card emulation software or secure element chip to transform into contactless smart cards.
Peer-to-Peer: This mode showcases properties similar to a wireless ad-hoc (wireless network that can be established without infrastructure like router), and assist electronic devices to transmit and receive data with each other. In peer-to-peer communication, two devices share content such as digital photos, digital business cards, etc. in close proximity of each other, and do not require repeated formation of connection between devices.
Android Bean is an example of an application that supports peer-to-peer communication between android devices.
Peer-to-Peer payment is also anticipated to encourage NFC providers to fuel investments in NFC, in turn, fueling revenue from Peer-to-Peer NFC enabled transactions.
