WALK, RUN, SKIP OR STROLL...
whatever the stride, community members will hoof it during Relay For Life events scheduled in Adrian and Tecumseh during 2016 to benefit the American Cancer Society. Relay For Life events are held around the world to support cancer research. Each event typically lasts 12-hours and involves setting out on foot - following a set path or course, often set up on athletic fields or tracks. People may join teams, or participate individually, and through pledges and sponsorships, money is raised to help end cancer.
RELAY FOR LIFE
of Adrian College
On April 2, the Adrian College Mortar Board will hold a 12-hour Relay For Life inside the Merillat Sports and Fitness Center, which will help bring students into the cancer fight, according to Catina Lowe, community manager for Relay For Life in Lenawee and Jackson counties.
APRIL 2
BARK FOR LIFE Tecumseh
On May 7, Aden Mead Park in Tecumseh will play host to Bark For Life. In its third year, Bark For Life is a “carnival for dogs,” said Lowe. There’s a contest to see which owner looks most like his or her dog, and another to find the best dog trick. “We celebrate cancer survivors and have a short walk,” Lowe said. A holistic veterinarian and a behavior consultant will be on hand to offer help with dog health issues and training.
MAY 7
RELAY FOR LIFE Lenawee County
On June 25, the 21st Lenawee County Relay For Life returns to Lenawee Christian School for a 12-hour event starting at 11 a.m. and will feature a walking path, as well as non-stop activities that include live music and tournaments. The event begins with the survivors victory lap and ends with the lighting of the luminaries. Ben Creech, event leader, believes the changes make Relay For Life even more fun this year. “We welcome teams of any size. It’s just a great cause,” he said. “I don’t know anyone who hasn’t been impacted by cancer in some way.” “We are moving back to where we started. Our goal is to make Lenawee County a strong Relay For Life community. Relay For Life is for everyone, no matter where they live,” Lowe said. “One day, one fight. It’s one of our signature fundraising activities. There are 6,000 events across the entire world and we raised over $300 million in 2015 in the US alone.”

Henry Ford’s $5 Day:
Too Good to Be True? 7-8pm Tuesday March 29
In 1914, Henry Ford startled the world when he announced that Ford Motor Company would pay $5 for an eight-hour workday. The ramifications of this event changed Ford Motor Company, southeastern Michigan, our nation, and the world. John Staudenmaier - consultant for the Henry Ford documentary that aired in 2013 on PBS’s “American Experience”-will explain lesser-known aspects of this story and dispel some myths. John Staudenmaier, S.J., is the Editor Emeritus for TECHNOLOGY AND CULTURE and Assistant to the President for Mission and Identity at the University of Detroit Mercy.

Visit, the
n the Spring of 2006, T he Tecumseh Herald, hatched the idea of creating a seasonal magazine that would bring the best of what smalltown living has to offer - into every single home in our area for free. We knew it would only be possible with the support of our great advertisers - who it turns out, were also anxious to tell their 'stories' in a full color magazine. Now here we are 10 springs later - and our award-winning magazine still strives to present every ad and every story in a way that informs, inspires and grabs your attention. Our loyal readers and advertisers have grabbed our attention with their consistent participation and acceptance and for that we are truly grateful. Also, to all our 'cast members' (past and present) who have helped this production along the way - a sincere thank you!
