TED is a non-profit organization, aiming to spread ideas, usually in a form of 18 minutes-short talks that are powerful. The event covers almost all topics - from science to business, to global issues - in more than 100 languages.
We’re building a home of free knowledge from the world’s most inspired thinkers - and creating a community of curious souls to engage with not only ideas, but also building network within the community itself. Our work all along has been driven by the goal of providing the best way to spread ideas.
Witnessing the growth of our community and the need of reaching out to spread more ideas, lies TEDx under TED’s roof. TEDx was created in the spirit of TED’s mission, “ideas worth spreading”. It supported independent organizers who wanted to create a TED-like experience in their own community. TEDx gave a chance to communities, organizations, or individuals to spark conversation and connection through local TED-like experiences.
At TEDx events, we combine a screening of TED Talks videos and live speakers. TEDx itself is planned and coordinated independently under a free license granted by TED.
TEDxUniversitasPrasetiyaMulya is a TEDx event held independently by students of Universitas Prasetiya Mulya. The event was first held on March 25th, 2017 with the theme Standpoint. It’s about the different point of views of the speakers on various subjects. Some of the topics showcased last year were about the speakers Standpoint on history and art. This year we’re back again with a new theme, Desire.
Throughout our lives,, Desire is an emotion we feel that pushes us to pursue the objects of our wishes -- be it career, love, life-goals, and more -that transpire differently to each. If we choose to embrace it, the surge may expose us to risks and insecurities, that jeopardizes our safe haven, but with a reward of wondernment more exciting with bountiful opportunities. With this theme, we would like to invite you to Speak, Share, Inspire, and Spread your Idea of Desire
