Children grin and bear it for nursery show CHILDREN at a Monkseaton nursery have been grinning and bear-ing it to bring one of their favourite books to life. Youngsters aged three to five at Children’s Choice Nursery in Norham Road have staged a production of Michael Rosen’s book We’re Going on a Bear Hunt. The children, pictured, spent weeks learning their parts before performing two shows for parents and carers. Nursery manager Debra Young said: “I am extremely proud of the efforts of both the staff and children involved.”

A NEW charity has been launched in Whitley Bay. Besides North Tyneside, Angels of the North will cover South Tyneside, Newcastle, Wearside, Gateshead, Northumberland, County Durham and Cumbria, providing medical aid and grants and services to those in need. The charity’s honorary chief executive officer, Barbara Connors-Fowler, said: “Our aim is to advance the common good through mobilising and equipping individuals and groups for voluntary action and charitable giving. “It is our intention to bring
