Kidnapping and shooting as conflict escalates in villages EXCLUSIVE
THE conflict between Shiites and Sunnis has escalated between two villages with a shooting and child kidnapping marking the latest atrocities to hit Gibuda. A male thought to be a Sunni has been arrested following the brutal kidnapping of a sixyear-old Shiite youngster. The boy, who was last seen wearing a Newcastle United shirt, was taken from his family yesterday, who have since been forced to flee

United Nations soldiers who have been called in to deal with the situation of escalating violence between the two factions, arrested the male and are searching for the youngster. In the same 24 hour period, a Shiite villager was shot while driving through the area, with his pregnant wife in the car, who was forced to give birth in the volatile area.
