International Court of Justice to a Fruitful Start THE HAGUE – The proceedings of the International Court of Justice can be said to have started in a most productive manner. One of the four topics to be discussed has, when this was written come to a close, as consensus among the judges was successfully created. The judges of the ICJ came to the conclusion that violation of the United Nations Charters prohibition on the use of force has taken place by the sovereign nation of Ethiopia against its Eritrean neighbor. The court based its decision on the application of three criteria found in customary international law, namely the purported necessity

of the use of force, the proportionality of which and the choice of means. The judge of Somalia is said to have also led the fact that he considers the use of force rather “old school” play a role in the decision to declare Ethiopia’s use of force a breach of the UN charter. The people of the ICJ also disclosed to the TEIMUN Daily, that this all took place after the ICJ judges had participated to the fullest in yesterday evening’s orange activities, and KDYLQJ EHHQ WKH YHU\ ÀUVW WR DUULYH WKHUH 7KH ICJ is still set to discuss three additional topics, ranging from belligerent occupation to nuclear weapons, topics which will hopefully be discussed with the same amount of fruitfulness.

Germany, defeated and bankrupt, turned from enemy into a problem that needed a solution. Dismemberment? Autonomy? The Yalta Conference hosted the USSR, the USA and the UK to discuss issues like this.

A Word About the Weather

Sadly enough not much is going to change when it comes to the weather tomorrow. It will be slightly chillier than what will have been experience, and some additional wind will set in from the west. Though the chance of rain occurring will drop slightly, it will probably stay nonetheless, so you had better keep your charming blue plastic ponchos ready. Minimum temperature will be around 11 °C (52 °F), the maximum will be around 18 to 21 °C (64 to 70 °F).

A rather common habit in the Netherlands is when one sees two people make out in public buildings, especially bars and clubs, one is entitled to throw water, but preferably beer, to these people. This cultural tradition is referred to as ‘striping.’ Be aware of this habit and make TEIMUN Daily’s job a bit more challenging.
