BLOB The BLob - Envisioned as a Black Box, A Lab for Learning and experimenting with VR, AR and Projection Mapping technologies. The space can be paritioned to house lectures or become an interactive space when needed. A permanent vr lab with Kat Vr would be the back bone for content creation and experimentation. The Space is designed as a digital reflective of the existing Taskisla Building. The character of the historic building is retained through metal arches and highlighting columns. Scalable walls and ceiling built with kagome sandwich structures help in extruding surfaces and also make projection mapping possible.

We started by playing around with the position and orientation of the six nodes to arrive at the geometry of the prototype. The final outcome was a bridge, with three nodes on either side of the bounding surface (1000 x 500 x 500 mm). The anchor points are thus dynamically positioned along the different faces of the wall planes, potentially spanning to the maximum length radiating their supports from the adjacent planes. The nodes on each side are aligned like a web connecting to the lateral planes of a surface. Elbow distances were determined considering the maximum span that could be achieved without compromising the strength of the anchors. And thus the base geometry was created. Simulation of gravity then gave us the catenary shape. The structure was envisioned with a broader framework at the anchor points, transforming to a narrower framework in the center. To achieve this, the attractor point was positioned at the resultant of the vertices of the base geometry. The structure then takes up the volume within to form an exoskeletal frame, which then iterates from the mesh surface resulting in a smoothened face. After strip formation and nesting, the prototype was finally fabricated using PPE sheet and Zip ties as connectors.
