Thought For The Month - 2012 by Marilyn LeBlanc

As we sit back and think of the year ahead, while reflecting back on this past year, may we take the time to ponder and pray how God will use us in the New Year ahead, and how He had used us in this past year. My prayer this year is that I will be open to what God wants me to do for Him. That He will give me a heart of compassion, kindness and understanding, and to be there for others who may need a kind word or a hug, or just to listen to others who are hurting, whether physical, emotional or spiritual. I want to have God in control of my life. I pray for health, to be all that He wants me to be; to be a good wife, mother, grandmother and friend. I pray that God will use me in a special way in 2012, and give me wisdom to accomplish all.

Here's a few instructions for the New Year! DEVOTION - Devote yourself to prayer, being watchful and thankful Colossians 4:2 WISDOM - Show wisdom by your good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom. The wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure, then peaceloving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit impartial and sincere. James 3:13, 17 BLESSINGS - I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth. Psalm 34:1 Bless the Lord o my soul and all that is within me, bless his holy name! Psalm 103 :1 Now these are resolutions I want to make. This New Year allow the Lord to lead you and touch your heart in everything that you do for Him.

So My Thought for the Month is: To surrender to God's will in our lives and allow Him to work through us.

Happy New Year and God's Blessings!!

ost people know that B.C. stands for 'Before Christ', but then it is often assumed that A.D. means 'after death', which seems to make sense. The problem is that B.C. is English and A.D. is Latin and it actually stands for 'anno domini' which translated means “the year of our Lord.” You see, the problem is that if you say before Christ and after death, there is no accounting for the thirty three years from His birth to His death. With before Christ and 'anno domini' it accounts for all the years of Christ's life. You might have noticed that some have started calling it 'the common era' rather than AD. This represents a shift away from our calender acknowledging the historical life of Jesus Christ, but I'm really not surprised and I'm not here to rant about how they're taking away our rights as Christians, because Jesus said they would and we should expect it. A.D. says more than just a statement about Jesus' historical life. If acknowledging Christ's historical life is all AD meant, then no one would really be concerned about changing it. Then Jesus would have been a good man who lived 33 years and then died and that would be the end of Jesus. Notice the term says, YEAR of our Lord. Year made sense during Jesus' life on earth, but what about year 34 after Jesus died on the cross? How is that a year of Jesus life. You might have guessed it by now, year of our Lord 34 is a year of Jesus life because Jesus rose from the dead and is alive. So when we say 2011 AD we are saying Jesus is alive in 2011, and when we bring in the new year 2012 AD, that will be another year in the life of Christ. Now don't get

me wrong, I'm not saying Jesus` life started when He was born, because Jesus has always existed. Jesus is God and God is eternal so Jesus has no beginning and end. What it means is that Jesus' incarnation (God in the flesh) began in the first year AD. You will also notice that when we say “year of our LORD” it acknowledges that Jesus is Lord. This is also a point that many people won't like to admit. To be sure Jesus is Lord of all, whether people will admit it or not. Everyone will eventually acknowledge Jesus is Lord, as Phil.2 tells us that every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father. Jesus is Lord in 2011, and in 2012, and throughout eternity, but not only is He Lord, He proved He is Lord when he satisfied the justice of God on the cross, therefore conquering sin. Jesus also conquered death and proved it by raising from the dead. I don't know any other man who has defeated sin or death, but Jesus has concurred both. Remember, Lord means that Jesus is the Boss, the head honcho, that he actually has the right to tell us what to do. Of course it is much easier to receive direction and instruction from someone when we admit they have the right to tell us what to do. The last word I would like you to notice is ``our.`` Year of OUR Lord. Is Jesus your Lord. We have already mentioned that we will all confess Jesus as Lord, but many have not yet. Who have you chosen to rule over your life? Are you the ruler of your life, the master of your own destiny, or is someone or something else? Maybe it's Cont. on next pg . . .

drugs. I just heard the testimony of a man who was addicted to drugs and it completely controlled his life. The problem is that things like drugs and alcohol make cruel masters that ruin your life and destroy your health. Maybe you say that you rule your own life, then may I ask you who would make a better master...you or Jesus? Who's more powerful to oversee your life...you or Jesus? Who knows the future and can guide your life...you or Jesus? The point is, that Jesus is a better master than we are and it is wise to put our faith in Him rather than ourselves. If we make Jesus Lord of our life now, we will live with Jesus for eternity and if we wait until after we die, we will spend eternity in Hell. If they change the dating system to 'common era' rather than AD, it doesn't change reality and that is that Jesus is Lord. I don't know what 2012 will bring, but I know Jesus is alive and He is Lord. I know I don't deserve God's grace, but He is my Lord and I am very thankful for His care over me and my family. That is how we can face the new year because it is 2012 AD. I pray you will accept Jesus as Lord if He isn't already.

“Why was I ever born when all I see is suffering and misery, and my days are filled with shame?” Jeremiah 20:18 When adversity hits us, it may come as a shock, but when it continues and worsens, our faith faces the test. I’m so glad that God didn’t edit out the parts in the Bible where people questioned their lives, their calling, and their faith. It validates our feelings as part of the normal human experience during our walk as a Christian. Even though God had clearly told Jeremiah that he was born for a purpose (Jer 1:5), he had forgotten that during this time of suffering: Cursed be the day in which I was born! Let the day not be blessed in which my mother bore me! Let the man be cursed who brought news to my father, saying, “ A male child has been born to you!” Making him very glad. Jeremiah 20:14-15 Job had a similar reaction: Perish the day I was born, the night someone said, “A boy has been conceived.” Job 3:3 As many times as I have suffered in my life, and continue to do so in some regards, I appreciate and understand the sentiment. Why? Why was I even born? Why do I have to suffer? Why do I have this shame? How reassuring it must have been for Jeremiah to hear the words in Chapter 29? It isn’t always welcomed from our friends during our darkest hours, but that was never the intention from God. I know the plans I have in mind for you, declares the LORD; they are plans for peace, not disaster, to give you a future filled with hope. Jeremiah 29:11 He knows the plans. He has them in His mind. His plans are for peace and not disaster. Despite our feelings and what we perceive. The plans the Lord has are “filled with hope.” So it is our choice friends, how we process our thoughts during our times of suffering should always end a place “filled with hope.” For this Hope is in us. God wanted to make the glorious riches of this secret plan, known among the Gentiles, which is Christ living in you, the hope of glory. Colossian 1:27

Love winds its way through injury by Craig Scognamiglio http://www.deepintolove.com/ Were they wrong? Yes. Were they cruel? Yes. Was it a one-time thing that blew over? spreads.

No.

It spread. Gossip, rumor, and innuendo always

I don’t want to point fingers or lash out. Well…

I do…

but I won’t.

That’s not love … and love is the thing. So how does love handle this injury? It’s all there … in … and in between …

the lines of 1 Cor 13.

If I know love… I know what love would do… and knowing that… it’s then just about doing what I know.

Simple…if not easy.

Continued on next page . . .

Love winds it way through injury cont. . .

Love is Patient… I think of our Lord, and how he so quickly defended the reputation and rights of those wrongly attacked. But I can search through all of Scripture and not find an instance where he defended himself from lies, insults, or attacks. Love often lets these things go without a response. If I want to be more like love, more like God… then I need not to fight fire with fire.

Love is Kind… I have to try to understand why they might have done what they did… and to some extent I have…but not fast enough… and I have to admit that I’ve done what they’ve done…. and to some extent I have…but not fast enough. I can only justifiably caste stones if I’m without sin. So I can’t pick up rocks. Love is putting myself into their position in order to understand better. The “me” in me wants to judge, and not understand. But that doesn’t matter… What matters is this… the more like love I act… the more like love I become… and God wants for me to be… …conformed to the image of his Son… (ROM 8:29) …and so that’s what I want too. Cont. on next pg. . .

Love winds it way through injury cont. . .

Love is not so much proud… A little truth here… I always want to be right. I always want to be seen as right. Oh this weakness… thinking my way is always the right way. But even if they are wrong, and I’m right…doesn’t matter. Love is respectful of other opinions, even while strongly disagreeing. Our Lord created a whole universe, to create one planet, to create children, to give them free will. How many decisions of mine has our Lord “strongly” disagreed with? How many people always choose rightly? Only one. I’m not Him. I have to let…this…go. There’s this toy. The game is throwing it across the floor… and Laska the Love Kitty pouncing… and he keeps it in his claws for a bit… but even he knows… the game can only be continued…if he lets…it…go. And love is only beginning to wind its way through…

10 simple and deliberate actions to jumpstart 2012 By Tami Heim

http://stickyjesus.com Yes, I’m still savoring Christmas, but I know this calendar year, whether I’m ready or not, is steam rolling into the history books. For some it’ll end like a strong sprint across the finish line or, at the other extreme, it’ll wash over as a muddled mess. Either way, 2011 is ready to wave its final good-bye and that leaves you and me almost standing face to face with 2012. During this little gap between Christmas and New Year, are you trying to get a grip and orient towards whatever is new, better, and hopeful? How are you building your bridge between the time lines of the old year and the new one coming?

But according to His promise we are looking for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells. II Peter 3:13

Our Prayer for 2012 We pray you will grow and discover new ways to make your voice heard. We ask God to give you a sense of urgency and an intense willingness to amp up the digital expression of God’s love and life in you. May the body be the body and radiate a magnificent cyber glow, living out boldly this great faith online. The world is desperate to see God’s glory in this time and place. You, beloved Christ followers, are His chosen point of contact. We pray you embrace the assignment and live each day to make Him known in the world. We Encourage You Find time this week and use it to prepare your heart. We each have our own ways of transitioning from here to there. Here are 10 simple and deliberate actions for you to follow – all guaranteed to help you jump start 2012: Review - Understand where you’ve been. List what you’ve learned and how it impacts where you feel called to go. Accept that God’s sovereign and that everything experienced in 2011 had a purpose that points to the future. Jeremiah 29:11~ “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Reflect - Think deeply about the defining moments from the past year. Wait on God to show you the before and after affect on your thinking, being, and doing. Let yourself be grateful for each of them and the way they altered the direction of your life. Psalm 37:7 ~ Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes.

10 simple and deliberate actions cont. . .

Assess – Take a truthful inventory of your heart. Ask God to show you the pleasing and not so pleasing parts. Reconcile the misses and determine to go forward with the power of the Holy Spirit as your guide. Hebrews 12:10-11 ~ They disciplined us for a little while as they thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, in order that we may share in his holiness. No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it. Evaluate - Map the key decisions you made this past year and list the outcomes realized because of them. Accept responsibility for them and own the ability to redirect them as Wisdom leads you. Ezekiel 36:25-27 ~ I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean; I will cleanse you from all your impurities and from all your idols. I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws. Resolve - Take a stand for what you want to continue to do and what you want to change. Exercise the power of your word and put into practice how you will daily honor it. Proverbs 16:3 ~ Commit your works to the Lord, And your thoughts will be established. Study – Seek God’s Word, experts, or the counsel of wise leaders regarding the areas where you know you need to grow. Examine all the alternatives before putting plans into place. Investigate before you navigate. Ephesians 4:21-24 ~ if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus: that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man who grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and that you put on the new man who was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness. Plan – Create an outline for the year. Identify benchmarks and time lines for key goals or accomplishments. Then surrender all of it to God for His shaping and perfecting. Proverbs 19:21 ~ There are many plans in a man’s heart, Nevertheless the Lord’s counsel—that will stand. Organize – Bring order where it’s needed. Clean up and clear out the unnecessary things in your life. Simplify where possible and eliminate the clutter that’s prone to distract you. I Corinthians 5:7 ~ Therefore purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, since you truly are unleavened. For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us. Collaborate – Look to those you trust to hold you accountable. Ask them to collaborate with the intentions of your heart. Look to support as well as be supported. Hebrews 10: 24-25 ~ And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching. 10 simple and deliberate actions cont. . .

Activate - Define what beginning looks like as specifically as you can. Lean in and position for forward motion. Set the alarm for “GO” and be ready when it rings. Trust God to get you where He wants you to be. Ecclesiastes 3:11 ~ He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.

No, dear brothers and sisters, I am still not all I should be, but I am focusing all my energies on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I strain to reach the end of the race and receive the prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us up to heaven. Best Friends Forever

Love is kind and patient, never jealous, boastful, proud, or rude. Love isn't selfish or quick tempered. It doesn't keep a record of wrongs that others do. Love rejoices in the truth, but not in evil. Love is always supportive, loyal, hopeful, and trusting. (1 Corinthians 13:4-7/CEV) Love My dear friends, we must love each other. Love comes from God, and when we love each other, it shows that we have been given new life. We are now God's children, and we know Him. (1 John 4:7/CEV) Love Comes from God Continued on next page. . .

Best Friends Forever cont. . .

But Jesus said, "Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven." (Matthew 19:14/NKJV)

God is love, and anyone who doesn't love others has never known Him. God showed His love for us when He sent His only Son into the world to give us life. Real Love isn't our love for God, but His love for us. God sent his Son to be the sacrifice by which our sins are forgiven. (1 John 4:8-10/CEV)

God is Love

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. (John 3:16/NKJV)

Dear friends, since God loved us this much, we must love each other. No one has ever seen God. But if we love each other, God lives in us, and His love is truly in our hearts. God has given us His Spirit. That is how we know that we are one with Him, just as He is one with us. (1 John 4:1113/CEV) His Overflowing Grace and Mercy

Jesus would also love to be your best Friend forever!!!

Outflow exists to share Christ's love! We are a charitable acts of kindness ministry that longs to reach the needs of the poor and oppressed. When we gather we believe it is important to share a meal, to break bread, offering our lives as a genuine friend. We don't want to be anything that we aren't. While we sit with people, we discover a peace, a compassion, and a love that can only be explained by a genuine encounter with Christ. We love being a gathering place that shares the pulpit. The stage is always open for anyone in the room. Often a message is prepared , but many times it is superseded by God's awesome presence within the room. God moves at the table, from the kitchen, and from within the most unlikely. As Christ lovers we are discovering that Jesus is within the poor. Some call us a church. Some call us a mission. Some call us a safe place to meet with friends. We want to be all of those things! What we do isn't complicated. . . most do it everyday. We prepare a meal, wait for Jesus to show up, then eat with HIM! We strongly believe that the #1 thing missing in ministry today is someone willing to build a relationship. So we sit. We eat. We listen. And we use words when necessary.

The ABC'S of Salvation The dictionary defines salvation as: 1. deliverance 2. pardon 3. snatching from the jaws God's gift to us is everlasting life through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ All we have to do is have faith and follow these 3 easy steps Admit - Believe - Confess Ephesians 2:8, 9 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faithand this not from yourselves, it is the gift of Godnot by works, so that no one can boast. 1. Admit That You Are A Sinner. Romans 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one. Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God.

Results Of Sin And Gods Gift to Us. Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

What Did Jesus Do For Us? Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. 2. Believe In The Lord Jesus. John 3:36 Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life,

for God's wrath remains on him. Romans 10:10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. 3. Confess The Lord Jesus. Romans 10:9 That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:13 For “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. Next Say This Prayer Believing With All Your Heart “Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner. Lord the sinful life that I lived separated me from you. Lord forgive me of my sins. I believe that you died on the cross and rose on the third day to pay for my sins. From this day forward I will put all my trust in you, Lord show me how to live a life for you. In Jesus name, Amen”
