Thee Hope That is Israel On the eve of the six day war, the Israeli writer, Aahron Megged penned a letter to British playwright, Wolf Mankowitz. He wrote "The difficult hours of our people are at hand. This has been a moment of decision. will the world respond? Will the world once more keep silent, stay on the sidelines and remain neutral." He appealed to the fabric of his British counterpart's soul, "Your heart, I know is with us, bridging the physical distance between us.
