“DOG WHISPERER”
Titans CB Logan Ryan Loud and Proud on the Field – and in Raising Money for Animal Rescue By Jim Wyatt
TITANS CORNERBACK Logan Ryan has been a dog on the football field. In 10 games this season, Ryan has recorded 73 tackles, 3 ½ sacks, 3 interceptions, 3 forced fumbles, 16 passes defensed, 2 quarterback pressures and 2 tackles for a loss. So, it’s not surprising to learn he’s known in the locker room as the “Dog Whisperer.” His teammates ask him about anything from tricks to behavior to potty training, or really anything to do with dogs. “They always think I can fix all their dog’s problems,” Ryan said with a smile. “I try and send them to my wife – she does that.” Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota has two dogs and yes, he’s hit up Ryan. “He actually helped me kind of figure out potty training,” Mariota said. 4
While Ryan works to help the Titans on the field, with the help of wife, Ashley, the couple wants to help animals – dogs and cats – through their work with the Ryan Animal Rescue Foundation. And over the offseason, they took another big step in doing so with their first ChowDown! Foodie Gala Event. The event’s goal, Ryan said, was to raise $100,000 through donations and an auction. The event sold out at the Bell Tower in downtown Nashville, and it raised around $160,000, according to event organizers. It’s an example of one of the many ways Ryan has been active in the Nashville community. “The South has been great to me,” said Ryan, who joined the Titans in 2017 after playing four seasons with the Patriots. “There’s a lot of great people down here. I think that’s something I worked really hard on, trying to make an impact off the field as much as I do

on it. I work really hard on the field. I feel like I can always challenge myself to do more off of it and to give back, give my money back, give my time back. … Nashville has embraced me 100 percent and embraced animal rescue, and it always has. I am happy, and I feel like I am in the right place with this.” Ryan and his wife adopted their first dog back in college at Rutgers. He said he’s always loved pets. Back then, Ashley worked at a shelter and spent countless hours with the animals, so when Ryan entered the NFL he wanted to do more himself. He’s used his platform to take picture and raise money for the Ryan Animal Rescue Foundation, which “is dedicated to supporting the animal community with financial and educational resources.” The foundation partners with animal welfare organizations around the world promoting adoption, offering grants and education to better the lives of animals. A year ago, the Ryans donated $100,000 of their own money, and they’ve been thrilled to see the support from the community. The Ryans have three rescue dogs of their own. “(Animals) don’t have a voice for themselves,” Ryan said. “Every cause is great, but this is a cause where they can’t speak for themselves and what they need, and I feel like I can be someone to speak for them.” The ChowDown! Event hosted over 350 guests, and it featured a culinary competition between 16 local restaurants. Ryan, Mariota, safety Kevin Byard and center Ben Jones were among the celebrity judges. Titans controlling owner Amy Adams Strunk presented the Chow Down “Dog-bardi” championship trophy to Hattie B’s at the end of the event. Jones and Byard said they’ve been inspired by Ryan’s cause, and effort in spreading the word. “It’s been amazing,” Jones said. “Just giving these dogs a second chance. So many times, these dogs just need a home. … I see the way his kids interact with the dogs and animals and how much they care about the animals.” Byard has two dogs himself. Ryan plans to continue pushing his message in the locker room and in the community. Logan and Ashley Ryan co-founded the Ryan Animal Rescue Foundation two years ago, and 100 percent of the proceeds raised Friday night by RARF went to charity. “Logan, he’s an awesome guy, an incredible guy,” said Byard, who has two dogs himself. “What he is doing, and what he has done for dogs. His foundation, and what him and his wife are doing, it is incredible. I’ve talked to him all the time about the different things he’s doing. He’s just a incredible human being overall.” TENNESSEE TITANS GAMEDAY

UNLIKELY HERO Fun-Loving Defensive Back Joshua Kalu a Popular Guy After Field Goal Block Saves Titans By Jim Wyatt
JOSHUA KALU has done some pretty special things in his life, but what happened in the team’s November 10 victory over the Chiefs was a game-changer in more ways than one. Kalu’s blocked field goal on the final play of the game preserved the Titans’ 35-32 victory over the Chiefs, and it caused his phone to blow up, too. “Everybody is still texting me, calling me,” a smiling Kalu said the Monday after the game. “This is probably the biggest reaction that I have gotten for anything in life – birthdays, graduation, you name it. I guess the game went nationwide so people and friends from New York to California to Miami have reached out. I have some people I know from London who have hit me up, congratulating me. It is an amazing feeling. “My Instagram followers went up, the Twitter follow22
ers and messages are booming,” Kalu said. “I am just glad we got the win and I’m glad I was able to do my part.” Kalu, in his second season with the Titans after signing as an undrafted free agent last May, sprinted off the edge from the left side to get his left hand on a 52-yard field goal try by Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker, a play that ended the game, and sparked a wild celebration. Kalu ran around after blocking the kick, before eventually being swarmed by teammates, and head coach Mike Vrabel. From the hundreds of people who contacted him after the game, Kalu said the one that might’ve meant the most came from his Pop Warner coach back home in Texas. Kalu’s relationship with his first football coaches dates back to when he was in fifth grade.

Titans teammates said they’re genuinely happy for Kalu, a defensive back who is popular in the locker room. “He is happy every day,” teammate Logan Ryan said of Kalu, a colorful dresser with a colorful personality. “He has a good spirit about him. Kalu, he’s the class clown of the group. He keeps it light. I think me and (Kevin Byard) can be pretty serious a lot of times and demanding as leaders in the DB room, but I think you need a Josh Kalu, a class clown to keep it light. That’s who he is every day -- he is always smiling, making jokes. He knows when to work, but he keeps it light all the time.” Kalu, who played collegiately at Nebraska, played five games for the Titans in 2018, and he’d suited up just once this season before Sunday’s game. Kalu spent the first half of the season on Injured Reserve. He’s played primarily on special teams in the NFL, but he played in the defense on at least one play on Sunday. Byard agreed Kalu is a jokester, but he also pointed to his work ethic. Kalu is also known for being heavily involved in the community back home in Texas, and also in Lincoln, Nebraska. Kalu was named to the Brook Berringer Citizenship Team and the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team as a sophomore, junior and senior while at Nebraska, where he played in 48 games and tallied 215 tackles, two sacks and seven interceptions in his collegiate career. When Kalu joined the Titans last May, Byard said it didn’t take him long to make his presence felt with his jokes and light-hearted disposition. In fact, they had to check the young buck. “It’s funny, when Kalu got here last year he was always making jokes and we kind of had to remind him, ‘Hey, you’re a rookie! You’re a rookie!’,” Byard said with a smile. “He actually tried to break down the group one day in training camp last year and I kind of shot him down, “Hey, you’re a rookie. You don’t get that.’ But he walks around with that confidence, and that attitude that he wants to be great, and wants to do great things.” Kalu chuckles when he hears the comments from his teammates. It’s not unexpected. After making the biggest play of his NFL career, Kalu said he’ll continue working while also keeping it light. When he got home after the game Sunday night he didn’t spend the evening Googling himself or checking his mentions on social media. He still hasn’t seen himself on SportsCenter’s Top 10 list. “I hopped on Call of Duty for a little bit,” Kalu said. “I did watch that play over and over again, though. The biggest thing for me was watching everybody else’s reaction around me, from coaches to players to fans to everybody. I was happy to make the play and happy it caused so many people to get excited.” TENNESSEE TITANS GAMEDAY

SPECIAL CLEATS, WINNING BID The Story Behind Titans RB Derrick Henry’s “Magic Cleats” – and His Generous Donation to Special Olympics Tennessee REMEMBER THOSE COLORFUL CLEATS
Titans running back Derrick Henry wore on his record-breaking night against the Jaguars in December of 2018? Yes, the ones designed by Special Olympic athletes, that went up for auction as part of the NFL’s “My Cause, My Cleats” campaign. Well, you’ll never guess who bought them, and why. “I asked the question: Who Won? Because I’d like to send a Thank You note,” said Adam Germek, CEO and president of Special Olympics Tennessee. “I know a bunch of people wanted those cleats. “When I heard it was Derrick, well, it was amazing. Derrick wanted to make sure we raised as much money as possible, and he wanted to support as many folks as possible. And Derrick couldn’t live without those cleats, and I don’t blame him. It couldn’t have worked out any better.” It’s true. Henry said the cleats meant so much to him, he wanted them for himself. In the process, it was also a chance for him to make a big contribution that would 28
go right to Special Olympics Tennessee. So when the Special Olympian-designed cleats went up for auction, the bids grew from the initial $5,000 bid NFL Network’s Steve Smith made on the set immediately after the game to into the $6,000s, then into the $7,000s and $8,000s. When the winning bid of $8,150 came in – from ‘Titansfan22’ – it was in fact Henry. The winning bid was the third-highest NFL auction total for “My Cause, My Cleats,” behind only cleats worn by Patriots quarterback Tom Brady and Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. The check from the NFL arrived at Special Olympics Tennessee earlier this year. Germek said the money will completely fund the Special Olympics Tennessee flag football event in the fall. “Those cleats are special to me, but not just because of the game,” said Henry, who ran for a franchise-record 238 yards in the contest, including a 99yard touchdown run that tied an NFL record. “They’re special because of the connection I have with those kids, so they mean a lot to me. “And if I can do that to help, and do something for

the kids and make a donation as big as that, I wanted to do it. I am just happy to make those kids happy and put a smile on their faces, and have that relationship with Special Olympics.” Here’s the backstory: Leading up to the team’s “My Cause, My Cleats” contest against the Jaguars, Henry decided his cause would be Special Olympics. As a high school student growing up in Yulee, Florida, Henry was part of a Special Olympics event each year as a volunteer, and he remembers the enthusiasm of the youngsters. “I got a joy out of that,” Henry said. Henry invited five Special Olympic athletes to Saint Thomas Sports Park leading up to the Dec. 6, 2018, contest against the Jaguars, and they had a pizza party inside the Titans locker room while designing the cleats. Then Henry went out and turned in one of the most memorable nights in NFL history. Henry’s 99-yard run tied Tony Dorsett’s 99-yard run in 1983 for the Cowboys. “Three of the five (Special Olympic athletes) were at the game when Derrick wore the shoes,” Germek said. “One of them actually said it was the best day of his life. They felt like they were on the field with him, every step of the way. … Giving a donation is one thing. But for our athletes to be a part of that, and have that memory and connection, it’s special.” A few weeks after that night, Henry invited a group of roughly 20 more Special Olympic athletes to the team’s Dec. 22 game against the Redskins. “I got to spend time with those kids, and getting to
know them, I felt an automatic connection,” Henry said. “It was like me being in high school again. And the way they expressed themselves on the cleats, they were special to them because they were their ideas, and they were special to me. I called them my “Magic cleats.” Jason Aikens, Collections curator for the Pro Football Hall of Fame, said the Hall of Fame has Dorsett’s cleats on display from his run against the Vikings in 1983. When Henry ripped off the 99-yard run in the Thursday night game against the Jaguars, he thought of Henry, and another potential display at the Hall of Fame. “Here at work, we were all texting during the game,” Aikens said. “The career rushing record is big, and career passing, scoring. But that is definitely one of the bigger ones. … That’s a record that will never be broken.” The cleats, of course, belong to Henry, thanks to his winning bid. Eventually, he plans to put them in a display case, where he’ll treasure them forever. The Titans instead sent Henry’s grass-stained jersey from that night to the Hall of Fame, and it’s on display in Pro Football Today room. Germek said the Special Olympic athletes treasure their relationship with Henry. “Derrick, he is all-in,” Germek said of Henry’s relationship with Special Olympics. “It is not a one-time thing for him. A lot of times it’s like, ‘Hey, let’s get the photo op type thing.’ That is not Derrick. Derrick has a huge heart. He’s is all about the Special Olympic athletes, and he is a great role model for our athletes.” TENNESSEE TITANS GAMEDAY

BUILDING FOR SUCCESS Titans Begin Expansion of Saint Thomas Sports Park THE TENNESSEE TITANS are beginning construction on an expansion project at Saint Thomas Sports Park, which will almost double its current footprint in Nashville’s MetroCenter neighborhood. The plan includes 60,000-square-feet in additions, including a new building situated along one of the practice fields, and major renovation of spaces within the existing 75,000-square-foot building. Improvements to Saint Thomas Sports Park, home to the team’s practice facility and corporate office since its inaugural season as the Titans in 1999, will continue to transform the space into a modern, first-class building aimed at enhancing the production of both its football and business staffs. Controlling owner Amy Adams Strunk, who assumed her role in 2015, has made a priority of ensuring that the team has the best tools at its disposal to perform on and off the field. In the past five years, the Titans organization has seen its staff grow by 50 percent. This increased headcount and the continuing evolution of the Titans’ overall business led to the decision to develop the building. “We’ve added so many members to the Titans family over the past several years,” Adams Strunk said. “Evolving our workplace makes perfect sense from both a growth standpoint as well as maximizing our team’s overall effectiveness. This new facility will ultimately create the modern environment that will enable further success.” Optimizing the workspace of the coaching staff and players is a key goal in the new office building. A re30
vamped auditorium for all-team meetings, modernized meeting spaces for film study and a new draft room are among the items planned. These improvements come following Adams Strunk’s already completed renovations to the facility, which include a new cafeteria, weight room, locker room, training room and TV and radio studios. Also planned in the new development is a 2,000-square-foot event space that leads out onto a 2,300-square-foot rooftop deck. While this space will be used for day-to-day staff functions, it will also serve as a key entertainment area for sponsors and other visitors to the facility. On the business side, the construction will allow the Titans to consolidate various departments that had been housed in multiple locations into the same building. Currently, the Titans lease additional space in MetroCenter to accommodate growth and houses its Ticket Sales group at Nissan Stadium. The new space will bring the vast majority of its staff under one roof. In addition to functional workspace, a two-story, 39,000-square-foot parking garage will add over 100 parking spaces to the facility. Titans staff toured multiple NFL practice facilities as research for the building development to ensure the team’s ideas matched or exceeded current NFL standards. The project is in collaboration with Smallwood Nickle Architects, who developed the renderings of the proposed space. PBG Builders Inc. has been hired as the contractor.

AMY ADAMS STRUNK Owner and Co-Chairman, Board of Directors
AMY ADAMS STRUNK assumed the role of con-trolling owner of the team in March 2015. She also serves as the co-chairman of the franchise’s Board of Directors. In her time as controlling owner Strunk has transformed the franchise through her vision, commitment and decisions that have set the team on an ascending trajectory. She hired Jon Robinson as General Manager and Mike Vrabel as head coach, while also in-stalling Steve Underwood to the position of President and CEO. Additionally, she has annually committed significant resources to upgrade Nissan Stadium and the team’s practice facility, Saint Thomas Sports Park. Strunk also continues to grow the administrative staff for the franchise with significant additions across different departments. All those changes translated to success on the field as the Titans went from a three-win team in 2015, to 9-7 records in the past three campaigns and a playoff win at Kansas City in 2017. The playoff victory was the first for the franchise since 2003, and the three consecutive winning seasons are first in the “Titans” era (1999-present). In the spring of 2018, she collaborated with Nashville city officials to secure the 2019 NFL Draft for downtown Nashville. By any measure, the 2019 NFL Draft was the most successful in NFL history, drawing a record 600,000 fans to downtown Nashville over the three-day event and setting television ratings records. 36
The Draft resulted in $224 million in economic impact and $133 million in direct spending for the Tennessee economy, which were both NFL high-water marks. In June, Strunk was honored by the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame as the “Tennessean of the Year,” for her role in bringing the NFL Draft to Nashville and her work to transform the franchise to a consistent winner. A year ago, the Titans launched the “We Stand For” campaign, designed to bring attention to the causes that are important to the team’s players, coaches and executives. This past July, Strunk presented $450,000 in grant funding to 10 local non-profit organizations to help aid their causes. One of the daughters of Titans franchise founder K.S. “Bud” Adams, Jr., Strunk was raised on football and is proud of her father’s role in founding the American Football League as well as the decades of leadership he provided not only to the Titans franchise, but also to the National Football League. Her goal is to build upon that legacy and establish the Titans as one of the league’s elite franchises. An independent businesswoman for more than 30 years, Strunk is the owner and president of both Kenada Farms and the Little River Oil and Gas Company. She has been significantly involved in the family’s farming and ranching businesses, including serving as the vice president of Bud Adams Ranches, Inc. These ventures pro-

vided her valuable knowledge about customer service as well as the opportunity to manage a diverse range of employees and business operations, and these experiences have shaped her management style. “I believe in hiring good people and letting them do their jobs,” said Strunk. “Everything should revolve around what’s best for the Titans and not around the owner. While I talk frequently with the leaders of the Titans as I do with all of our family’s companies, the people in our football operations need the control and latitude necessary to create an exciting and competitive team. “Our business staff needs the same freedom in order for our organization to reach its full potential and to continue to create a first-class fan experience at Nissan Stadium. Decisions will always be made based on what is the best for the team to reach our goals of becoming one of the elite franchises of the NFL and enriching the communities of Nashville and middle Tennessee. “Nashville is one of the most dynamic and rapidly growing cities in the nation with a very promising future,” said Strunk. “We are proud to be a part of Nashville and Middle Tennessee, and we want the Titans to be a leader in providing opportunities for people and businesses in the city and the region to achieve their dreams.” Engaged in the process of improving all aspects of the franchise, Strunk has the best interest of the football team and the fans on her mind as she makes her decisions. As evidence of that engagement, the Titans have become one of the best home teams in the NFL, posting a 16-4 home mark in the last 20 games leading into the 2019 season. In 2016, Strunk was appointed to the NFL’s Hall of Fame Committee. Her appointment continues a family legacy, as her father was a long-time member of the committee. Additionally, in 2017, Strunk was named to the Board of Trustees for the Pro Football Hall of Fame. In 2018, she added an appointment to the NFL’s Super Bowl and Major Event Advisory Committee. A graduate of the University of Texas with a degree in history, Strunk is an avid horse enthusiast whose other interests include farming, ranching, tennis and a variety of other outdoor activities. She also served as a volunteer coach of both the boys and girls varsity tennis teams at her daughter’s high school. Never one to turn down a challenge, during the 2017 offseason, Strunk accepted an invitation to skydive with members of the Army’s Golden Knights to kick off draft week. Strunk is married to her husband Bill. She has three children — Tracy, Tommy, and Blanche, who are all avid sports fans and outdoor enthusiasts. TENNESSEE TITANS GAMEDAY

STEVE UNDERWOOD President and CEO
STEVE UNDERWOOD returned to the Titans on March 20, 2015 to serve as the team’s interim President and CEO, and had the interim tag removed in January of 2016. He now leads the franchise as the President and CEO. Underwood has four decades of experience in a number of roles with the franchise, including that of Senior Executive Vice President/General Counsel/COO at the time of his initial retirement in 2011. Prior to his initial retirement, Underwood assumed the position of Senior Executive Vice President, General Counsel in August of 2006 and moved from Houston to Nashville. He oversaw the organization in Nashville and 38
reported directly to the team owner, K.S. “Bud” Adams, Jr. Since he joined the franchise in 1991, he has served as General Counsel for the franchise. He also served as General Counsel for KSA Industries, Inc., the private holding company of Titans’ owner K. S. “Bud” Adams, Jr. Underwood was heavily involved in issues related to the franchise’s relocation to Tennessee, including his role as one of the Titans’ principal negotiators with local governments in Nashville, Memphis and Houston. Underwood raised five children, including daughters Christy, Melissa, Providence and Liberty, and son, Dennis, who passed away in 2011. Underwood and his wife, Frances, currently live in Nashville.

JON ROBINSON
Executive Vice President/General Manager JON ROBINSON enters his fourth season as the team’s general manager. He was hired in January of 2016 and was promoted in 2017 to executive vice president/general manager. Robinson’s work in his first three years helped the team go from three wins in the season prior to his arrival to three consecutive 9-7 seasons and a Divisional Round playoff finish following the 2017 campaign. He became the fifth general manager in franchise history to have the team in the playoffs within his first two full seasons. Robinson also is the only general manger during the “Titans” era (1999-present) to oversee three consecutive winning seasons. Robinson turned over 80 percent of the Titans roster in his first three years on the job. At the end of the 2018 campaign, 43 players on the club’s 53-man ros40
ter (81.1 percent) were added after Robinson arrived in Tennessee—27 free agents, two players acquired via trade, one waiver pickups and 13 draft picks. An additional nine players he acquired (six free agents, two draft picks and one waiver claim) ended 2018 on injured reserve. In 2019, Robinson added key veterans to bolster the roster, including five-time Pro Bowl OLB Cameron Wake, G Rodger Saffold and WR Adam Humphries. Additionally, he engineered a trade that brought QB Ryan Tannehill to the Titans from Miami. Robinson also was able to keep two key contributors on the roster, re-signing S Kenny Vaccaro and two-time Pro Bowl punter Brett Kern. On draft day, Robinson added Mississippi State DL Jeffery Simmons in the first round and Ole Miss WR A. J. Brown in the second round.

8/2/19 7:31 AM
Early in the 2018 unrestricted free agent signing period, Robinson targeted a pair of former New England Patriots: CB Malcolm Butler and RB Dion Lewis. During the 2018 NFL Draft, Robinson used trades to move up three times as he selected linebackers Rashaan Evans and Harold Landry. During the 2017 offseason, Robinson used free agency to address needs on defense and special teams. Most notably, he spearheaded deals for CB Logan Ryan (New England), S Johnathan Cyprien (Jacksonville) and special teams Pro Bowler Brynden Trawick (Oakland). In the 2017 NFL Draft, Robinson spent first-round picks on WR Corey Davis (fifth overall) and CB Adoree’ Jackson (18th overall). It marked the first time the franchise had a pair of first-round draft selections since 1987. Overall, the members of the 2017 draft class combined for 76 games played and 42 starts as rookies. In his first year as an NFL general manager, Robinson’s leadership and decision-making helped the Titans triple their win total from the previous season, finishing 9-7 in 2016 after a 3-13 finish in 2015. The six-win improvement tied for the most in franchise history (1967 and 1974) and doubled the previous club benchmark for the most wins in the first year under a new general manager (three by Bum Phillips in 1975). Within the first four months at his post, Robinson pulled the trigger on several key personnel decisions. On March 9, 2016, he made his first major acquisition, swapping fourth-round draft picks with the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for RB DeMarco Murray. The trade provided major dividends in 2016, as Murray led the AFC and ranked third in the NFL with 1,287 rushing yards. Around the same time, Robinson began to work the free agent market. Center Ben Jones and WR Rishard Matthews highlighted the haul, and both were instrumental in helping to transform the Titans offense into the 11th-ranked unit in the NFL in 2016. Jones started all 16 games and keyed a rushing attack that ranked third in the league, while Matthews set career highs with 65 receptions (tied for the team lead), a teamhigh 945 receiving yards and a team-high nine touchdown receptions. The latter number tied for sixth in the NFL and tied for ninth in franchise history. On April 14, 2016, two weeks before the NFL Draft, Robinson and the Titans dealt the first overall pick to the Los Angeles Rams in one of the biggest trades in recent NFL history. The Titans gave up the No. 1 pick and a fourth-rounder in order to receive the 15th overall pick, two second-rounders and a third-rounder in 2016, plus the Rams’ first- and third-round picks in TENNESSEE TITANS GAMEDAY

2017. From 1990–2015, there were seven trades involving the No. 1 overall pick, but this was the first since 2004, when the San Diego Chargers selected Eli Manning with the first pick and dealt his rights to the New York Giants. The Titans had their hands at one point or another on 17 selections in the 2016 draft due to five different trades (including one trade in 2015), and in the end, they ended up with a class of 10 players, including four of the top 45 picks. Robinson swung a draft-day trade with the Cleveland Browns to move back up to the eighth slot to choose Michigan State tackle Jack Conklin. All 10 members of Robinson’s first draft class played in at least one game in 2016. They accumulated a total of 110 games played and 38 starts, including 16 starts at right tackle by Conklin. The eighth-overall pick capped his successful rookie campaign by being named first-team All-Pro by Associated Press. Other rookies in 2016 who made significant contributions included second-round RB Derrick Henry, third-round S Kevin Byard and fifth-round WR Tajaé Sharpe. Byard earned first-team All-Pro honors and a Pro Bowl berth in his second season. Robinson arrived in Tennessee with a wide range of experience from working his way up on the personnel side of the NFL. From 2014–2015, he served as director of player personnel for the Buccaneers and oversaw both college and pro departments as the team rebuilt its roster. The 2015 Buccaneers draft class made a significant impact, including four rookie starters: QB Jam42
eis Winston, OT Donovan Smith, G Ali Marpet and LB Kwon Alexander. Prior to joining Tampa Bay, Robinson spent 12 years with the New England Patriots, including his last five years (2009-13) as the director of college scouting. In the five years heading up their college scouting, the Patriots added a number of key components to their roster that won the Super Bowl in 2014, including WR Julian Edelman, DB Devin McCourty, TE Rob Gronkowski, OT Nate Solder and DE Chandler Jones. He joined the Patriots as an area scout in 2002, a role he served for four seasons. Robinson then spent two years (2006-07) as a regional scout, before being promoted to assistant director of college scouting in 2008 and then director of college scouting in 2009. In his time scouting for the Patriots the team won 10 division titles, four conference titles and two Super Bowls (2003, 2004). Robinson played three years at Southeast Missouri State as a defensive lineman after starting his college career at the Air Force Academy. Following his college career as a player, he spent one season (1998) coaching at his alma mater and three years (1999-2001) coaching at Nicholls State. A native of Union City, Tenn., Robinson and his wife, Jaimie, have two daughters, Taylor and Bailey. He and his wife are deeply involved in the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), as the disease affects their oldest daughter, Taylor. In 2018, the Robinsons chaired the JDRF Gala in Nashville which raised over 1.8 million dollars for diabetes research.

MIKE VRABEL Head Coach
MIKE VRABEL was hired as head coach of the Titans on Jan. 20, 2018. He became the 19th head coach in franchise history. In his first season as a head coach, Vrabel guided the Titans to a 9-7 record and to within one game of a playoff berth, all while navigating one of the NFL’s toughest schedules. The Titans played a league-high nine games during the regular season against seven eventual playoff teams, and their four wins against playoff clubs tied for the most in the league. Only New England, the Los Angeles Rams and Carolina had as many. The Titans committed only 82 penalties in 2018. Not only was that number the best in franchise history over a 16-game season, it was the lowest total by an NFL team since 2014. The Titans improved from having the 13th-ranked NFL defense in 2017 to an eighth-overall ranking in 2018 (333.4 yards allowed per game). They finished third in scoring defense at 18.9 points allowed per game, recording their best mark since 2008. The 2018 Titans defense also ranked second in the red zone 44
(44.7 touchdown percentage), 10th on third down (36.6 percent), sixth in passing defense (216.9 yards per game), second in touchdowns allowed (32) and first in fourth-quarter defense (65.9 yards per game). The 2018 Titans offense relied heavily upon a strong running attack. Averaging 126.4 rushing yards per game, the team upgraded from the NFL’s 15th-ranked rushing offense the year before he arrived to the seventh-ranked rushing attack in 2018. Vrabel ascended quickly to his position as a head coach following a 14-year playing career as a linebacker with the Pittsburgh Steelers (1997-2000), New England Patriots (2001-08) and Kansas City Chiefs (2009-10). He spent three years as an assistant coach at Ohio State (2011-13) and four years on the Houston Texans staff (2014-17), including 2017 as the defensive coordinator, before he was hired to his current post by Titans controlling owner Amy Adams Strunk. Vrabel’s accomplishments as a player included three Super Bowl wins (2001, 2003 and 2004), one Pro Bowl selection (2007) and an All-Pro honor (2007). He

appeared in 206 NFL games and totaled 57 sacks, 496 tackles, 11 interceptions (one returned for a touchdown), 20 forced fumbles and nine fumble recoveries. A cerebral and versatile athlete, he also saw action as a tight end and totaled 10 touchdown receptions. Additionally, his teams advanced to the playoffs eight times (20 postseason games), with Vrabel recording eight postseason sacks and two additional postseason touchdown receptions. Vrabel has spent his football life around accomplished leaders. After entering the NFL as a player in 1997, he played or coached under Bill Belichick, Bill Cowher, Romeo Crennel, Urban Meyer and Bill O’Brien. He gleaned attributes from each that helped form his philosophies as a head coach. Upon arriving in Tennessee, Vrabel stated: “We want to build a culture around winning, competitiveness and toughness. Everything we do is going to be geared towards winning and being physical. We want to prepare our players so they know what to do, which will allow them to play fast and aggressive.” Vrabel likewise made his own indelible impression on the same group of coaches. Upon the trade of Vrabel from the Patriots to the Chiefs in 2009, Belichick, who coached Vrabel his entire time in New England, made this comment: “Mike Vrabel epitomizes everything a coach could seek in a professional football player: toughness, intelligence, playmaking, leadership, versatility and consistency at the highest level. Behind the scenes, Mike’s wit and personality is one of the things we have all enjoyed about coming to work every day. The toughest aspect of my job is the day I stop coaching

people like Mike, who did everything in his power to contribute to team success. Of all the players I have coached in my career, there is nobody I enjoyed working with more than Mike.” Vrabel joined the Titans after four seasons with O’Brien at the Houston Texans, spending the first three seasons (2014-16) coaching linebackers and one year (2017) as the team’s defensive coordinator. During his time in Houston, the Texans built one of the top defenses in the NFL and experienced tremendous success as a team, earning division titles in 2015 and 2016. O’Brien had this to say on Vrabel: “When you are around guys like Mike you know that it is inevitable that he is going to be a head coach. He is a great leader, and he did an excellent job for us
developing players, coaching the defense. He is a very, very hard worker, and he has a really good presence about him. He cares about people, and he has a great family … When you walk into the room in front of a team, you have to have ‘it,’ and he’s got ‘it.’” In 2017, Vrabel’s first year as a defensive coordinator, the Texans finished the campaign with 19 players on injured reserve. Despite the setbacks, he led the defense to the fifth-best third-down percentage in the NFL and a franchise-record 3.97 yards per carry by opponents. Houston also had 18 different players record at least half a sack and 26 players tally at least one tackle for loss. As the Texans linebackers coach from 2014-16, Vrabel helped mold several top-notch performers TENNESSEE TITANS GAMEDAY

within his position group, including Jadeveon Clowney, Whitney Mercilus, Benardrick McKinney and Brian Cushing. During those three seasons, the Texans defense ranked third in the NFL in yards allowed per game (319.9) and net passing yards (218.4). Houston also ranked first in third-down defense (33.6 percent), fourth in opponent completion percentage (59.5) and sixth in points allowed per game (19.8). The 2016 Texans ranked number one in the NFL – for the first time in franchise history – in total defense, surrendering only 301.3 yards per game. The defense also gave up the fewest first downs (17.0) per game and second-fewest net passing yards (201.6) per game in the league. Clowney, Mercilus and McKinney all earned second-team All-Pro honors, while Clowney was named to the Pro Bowl for the first time in his career after posting personal bests with 52 tackles, six sacks, 16 tackles for loss and 17 quarterback hits. Mercilus led the team in sacks for the first time in his career with 7.5 quarterback takedowns and tied for the NFL lead with four defensive fumble recoveries. McKinney led the team with a career-high 129 tackles and became the second player in franchise history with over 100 tackles and five sacks in a season. The 2015 Texans had the top third-down defense in the NFL, allowing a 28.5 percent conversion rate, which was the lowest percentage in franchise history and the lowest by any NFL team since the 2003 Titans (27.7 percent). The 2015 defense also set a franchise mark with 45 sacks – 22.5 of which came from Vrabel’s linebacking corps. The 2015 squad also finished third in the NFL in net yards 46

(310.2) and net passing yards (210.4) allowed per game and tied for seventh in points allowed per game (19.6). Cushing’s 110 tackles led the linebacking corps and were the third-highest mark of his career. Mercilus enjoyed the best year of his career as he set a personal high with 12 sacks. Prior to joining the NFL coaching ranks, Vrabel transitioned immediately from an NFL player to college coach. He started as the linebacker coach at Ohio State in 2011 and coached the defensive line from 2012–2013. In 2012, the Buckeyes finished the season undefeated at 12-0, and Vrabel was named Big Ten Recruiter of the Year by ESPN.com. That same season, he coached four Ohio State
defensive linemen who were either drafted into the NFL or signed free agent contracts. Vrabel was selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the third round (91st overall) of the 1997 NFL Draft after playing four years at Ohio State (1993-96). With the Buckeyes, he was a dominant performer, earning back-to-back All-American honors and becoming the first two-time winner of the Big Ten Conference Defensive Lineman of the Year Award (1995 and 1996). He graduated from Ohio State with a degree in exercise science. A native of Akron, Ohio, Vrabel attended Walsh Jesuit High School. He and his wife, Jennifer, have two sons: Tyler and Carter.

A MESSAGE FROM OWNERSHIP
DEAR FRIENDS, Giving back has always been important in our family. It is with great pride that we share with you some of the community events and initiatives in which we participated this year. We are proud of the overall impact our organization has made, and the following are a few of the highlights: • Launching We Stand For in support of our players and their causes and charities • Partnering with the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association to bring the InSideOut Initiative to Tennessee, a model that works to shift the focus of high school athletics away from the current “win-at-all-costs” culture and re-define the role of interscholastic sports in the lives of students and communities • Through a shelter pet adoption campaign, helping the Nashville Humane Association clear their shelter for Christmas for the first time in their history On behalf of the Adams family and the entire Tennessee Titans organization, we would like to say thank you. Thank you to our fans, our partners and our community for the support we receive that allows us to enrich the quality of life within the areas we live and work. Titan Up!

TENNESSEAN OF THE YEAR Titans Owner Amy Adams Strunk Honored as 2019 Tennessean of the Year by Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame
TITANS CONTROLLING OWNER Amy Adams Strunk received a standing ovation at the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame banquet in June while being honored as the 2019 Tennessean of the Year. After a video played recognizing her work in the state – from helping bring the 2019 NFL Draft to Nashville to her generosity in the community to the resurgence of her football team – Strunk gave thanks to football fans in the state, stating she was honored to receive the award on a night when the 2019 Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame class was inducted. The star-studded class included Kippy Brown, David Cutcliffe, Charles Davis, Kara Lawson, Peyton Manning, George Taliaferro, Bob Tillman, Kimberly Anne Valek and Patrick Willis. “I am just awed when I look at the inductees and what they did in their careers,” Strunk said. “I am just happy to be here and I’m so appreciative.” The Tennessean of the Year award “honors an individual or organization that has made significant 56
contributions to our society through sports or other methods, demonstrating strong character and high profile leadership.” The Tennessean of the Year award was first awarded by the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame in 1982. The award is not bestowed each year; only when people are deemed worthy.

FRANCHISE LEGENDS LOCKED IN
Steve McNair’s No. 9 and Eddie George’s No. 27 jerseys retired during special ceremony at Nissan Stadium EDDIE GEORGE AND STEVE M c NAIR.
Think of the Tennessee Titans, and two of their alltime greats come to mind because of their success on the field, their toughness and grit – and the impact they’ve made in the city of Nashville and beyond. Now, the Tennessee legends have been locked in by the team -- and ownership -- by having their jersey numbers 9 and 27 retired. McNair’s No. 9 jersey and George’s No. 27 jersey were retired in a special ceremony during the team’s home opener against the Indianapolis Colts. Former teammates served as the Honorary 12th Titans for the game, while Taj George, Eddie’s wife, performed the National Anthem prior to the game. Fred McNair, Steve’s brother, spoke on behalf of the Titans’ legendary quarterback. Titans owner Amy Adams Strunk offered her gratitude to the pair of Titans legends. “Steve and Eddie will be forever linked as two of the driving forces for our team in the late 90’s and early 2000’s,” Strunk said. “They were the heart and soul of the team and each made the other a better player and 58
ultimately led to a great deal of team success. Their statistics will forever live in our record books, but their play and sacrifice is what our fans will always remember. For that and all that they have done for our team, the number 9 and 27 will be retired with the all-time franchise greats.” In the history of the Oilers/Titans franchise, only six players have had the distinction of having their jersey number retired – Jim Norton (No.43), Elvin Bethea (No.65), Earl Campbell (No.34), Mike Munchak (No.63) Bruce Matthews (No.74) and Warren Moon (No.1). During the NFL Draft, George wore McNair’s No.9 to honor him. This past September, they were honored together. “To have it retired with my partner in crime, Steve McNair, it means a lot,” George said. “We were always linked at the hip during our playing careers. We’ve been through a lot of wars together both on and off the football field. To go down this day, to have our jerseys retired on the same day is huge for us. “It has to be with Steve. 2 plus 7 equals 9. … It is totally appropriate to see us go in together.” During the duo’s time together (1996–2003), the

During the duo’s time together (1996–2003), the team’s 80-48 record (.625) ranked third in the NFL behind only the Green Bay Packers’ 88-40 record (.688) and the Denver Broncos’ 83-45 (.648) mark. Together they experienced four total playoff appearances (1999, 2000, 2002 and 2003), two division titles (2000 and 2002), two AFC Championship games (1999 and 2002) and an appearance in Super Bowl XXXIV. McNair was the third overall draft pick in 1995 by the Houston Oilers, and he made the No.9 a special one during his career. McNair played from 1995-2005 with the Oilers/Titans before playing his final two NFL seasons (2006-2007) with the Baltimore Ravens. In 11 seasons with the Titans, McNair set team records and accumulated the most wins of any quarterback in Titans/Oilers history. McNair, who led Tennessee’s famous drive that ended up a yard short of forcing overtime in Super Bowl XXXIV, also made a big impact in the Nashville community through the Steve McNair Foundation. He was selected as the 2005 Titans Walter Payton Award Winner, given to the team’s Community Man of the Year. He was a four-time Pro Bowler, and he was co-MVP of the NFL with Colts quarterback Peyton Manning in 2003. McNair finished his career with 31,304 yards passing and 174 touchdowns. As a member of the Titans, he was credited with 20 game-winning drives in the regular season and postseason, finishing second all-time behind Moon (23). McNair was tragically killed in Nashville on July 4, 2009, but his memory remains alive around the team, and in the city. “Retiring his jersey is a really big deal for us,” Mechelle McNair said in a statement. It is a tangible reminder for me and the boys to know that No.9 will forever be held in the highest regard in the Titans nation.” A first-round pick by the Titans in 1996, George made the No. 27 legendary in Tennessee.
George is the Titans/Oilers record holder for career rushing yards (10,009), ahead of Hall of Famer Earl Campbell (9,407). He finished his career with 10,441 yards. George is the only running back in NFL history to record 300 or more carries for eight consecutive seasons. He is the organization’s all-time scrimmage yards leader (12,153). During his playing days in Tennessee (1996-2003), George never missed a game – a span of 128 starts. He was a 1,000-yard rusher seven times, and a four-time Pro Bowler. George racked up 36 100yard games, and the Titans recorded a 30-6 record in those games. George’s finest season came in 2000, when he rushed for 1,509 yards, scored 16 total touchdowns, and six 100-yard performances for the 13-3 Titans. Playing alongside McNair, George helped the Titans reach the playoffs four times in his eight years in Nashville, including a Super Bowl, and two AFC title games. George went over 1,300 yards in a season four times, and he racked up 12,668 all-purpose yards in his career. George averaged 1,160 rushing yards per season during his nineyear NFL career. Among all players who have played six seasons, only six averaged more rushing yards per season: Barry Sanders (1,527), Jim Brown (1,368), Payton (1,287), Martin (1,282), LaDainian Tomlinson (1,244) and Emmitt Smith (1,224). George, Tomlinson and Eric Dickerson are the only three NFL running backs to rush for 1,200 or more yards in each of their first five NFL seasons. Earlier, McNair and George were inducted into the Titans/Oilers Hall of Fame. “This is a big moment for me personally because I love these guys, and I know my dad loved these guys, and he will be so happy and proud,” Strunk said. “This is the highest honor that we can bestow on a Titans player, and both of them are deserving for their significant contributions to our franchise. Steve and Eddie’s accomplishments are on par with the NFL’s best players in history, and amongst the greatest of all Titans.” TENNESSEE TITANS GAMEDAY

INSPIRING YOUTH Former Titans RB Eddie George, Titans and Campbell’s give back to East Nashville Magnet High School FORMER TITANS RB Eddie George and the Titans partnered with Campbell’s Chunky Soup to donate helmets, shoulder pads, Titans tickets and a check for $10,000 to East Nashville Magnet High School. George surprised he team before their practice with the gifts and invited them to attend the Titans-Colts game for his jersey retirement ceremony. The entire team received game tickets, pregame field access, and enjoyed a pregame tailgate with Titans alumni players. George left the team with this inspirational message. “Think beyond the game,” George told the players. “Your plan A is to play ball and get a great education. Then think how you want to be like Jay-Z and have ownership in companies, ownership in your communities. The only way that happens is by putting yourself in an environment of education. Take care of your books.” 60

BUILDING LIVES
Titans partner with Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project and Habitat for Humanity of Greater Nashville to help build affordable homes for low income families THE TENNESSEE TITANS were excited to partner with the Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project and Habitat for Humanity of Greater Nashville earlier this month to help build affordable homes for low income families. The project was the cornerstone of the Titans’ NFL Huddle for 100 campaign, which celebrates the league’s 100th season and encourages fans to be active in causes that are important to them in the community. “Being in Nashville and understanding that affordable housing is a big issue that we’re having right now, it was important for the Tennessee Titans to lend their hand in making these opportunities available to those in need,” said Titans Senior Director of Community Relations Tina Tuggle. “We thought this was a great opportunity to jump on board and help our community with something it’s so deserving of.” Nashville was chosen as the host city for the historic occasion, joining Garth Brooks, Trisha Yearwood and hundreds of volunteers Oct. 6-11 to build 20 new homes in partnership with families in the north Nashville neighborhood of Park Preserve, a 42-acre Habitat developed neighborhood with 93 homes that will have 64
175 homes when it is complete. An additional 12 new single-family homes and 26 new townhomes will be constructed by 2021 with support of funding raised for the project for a total of 58 families served. Affordable housing is an urgent topic in Nashville. According to the latest Housing Report from the Davidson County Mayor’s office, more than 200,000 people living in Nashville cannot afford the cost of housing. Nashville has lost over 20 percent of its affordable housing since 2000. By 2026, it is projected that Nashville will need an additional 30,000 affordable housing units. The Carter Work Project will increase Habitat of Greater Nashville’s capacity to make a significant impact on affordable housing for years to come. Since 1984, President and Mrs. Carter have been champions and strong voices for affordable housing, donating their time and leadership each year to build and improve homes around the world with Habitat for Humanity. Inspiring millions, more than 100,000 volunteers have worked with the Carters in 14 countries to improve access to affordable housing. The Titans were thrilled to join Habitat of Greater Nashville and the city of Nashville to be a part of this.

SCHOOL VISITS
Titans Making Impact on Elementary and Middle School Students THE TITANS SCHOOL PROGRAM — implemented at both the middle and elementary school level — is focused on promoting the NFL’s PLAY 60 and Fuel Up to PLAY 60 campaign. During an assembly, Titans players share their personal story and the importance of making good choices, staying focused, making homework a priority before outside activities, staying in school, and listening to their parents and teachers. The players also stress the importance of healthy eating and leading an active lifestyle. Following the assembly, select students — nominated by their schools for leadership, grades and behavior — are invited to a special meet-and-greet opportunity. Tennessee State Parks began a partnership with the Titans school program in spring 2012 and has added further educational elements to the program that include displaying of bald eagles, red-tailed hawks, owls and other animals in the care of Tennessee State Park rangers. There are 54 state parks across Tennessee and any one of them is a great place to be active. Additional partners of the Titans school program include the State of Tennessee Department of Health, the American Heart Association and the Southeast United Dairy Industry Association. 66

HOSPITAL VISITS
Titans Spread Cheer, Visit Saint Thomas Health Patients THE TITANS HOSPITAL PROGRAM is a long-standing tradition the team implemented in 1999 where players visit with Saint Thomas Health patients who are receiving care ranging from joint replacement to minimally invasive surgical procedures including heart transplants to families who are welcoming a newborn babies. Visits include the hospitals located in Davidson and Rutherford counties, where many patients are season ticket holders, making the moments even more special. Players also visit a 40-bed JCAHO-accredited nursing home in Hickman County, where senior adults receive extended care. Saint Thomas Health is a family of Tennessee hospitals and physician practices united by a single mission: to provide spiritually centered, holistic care that sustains and improves the health of the communities they serve. As a part of Ascension Health, the largest not-for-profit health care system in the United States, they are committed to healing and dedicated to service, especially to persons who are poor or needy, reflecting the spiritual core of their mission, vision and values. 68

NFL DRAFT A SMASHING SUCCESS IN NASHVILLE Sets Record with 600,000 Fans in Attendance, 47.5 Million Viewers WHEN THE 2019 NFL DRAFT was awarded to Nashville, it was expected to be a success in Music City. But no one could have predicted the record-setting week that was to come. The Draft easily shattered records for attendance, as over 600,000 fans filled the streets of Nashville for the three-day event. The NFL and the Nashville Convention & Visitors Corp announced it generated a record $133 million in direct spending -- a 79 percent increase over the $74 million at the 2018 Dallas event. The economic impact was another record-breaker at $224 million, also a 79 percent increase over the $125 million in 2018. In April, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell praised Titans owner Amy Adams Strunk for her role in bringing the 2019 NFL Draft to the city. “While I am proud to have been involved, the people of Tennessee were the true stars of the show and I want to thank every single person who touched the event,” Strunk said. “They say it takes a village, but this event, it took an amazing city and a great state to come together and throw one of the biggest parties in NFL history.” With a combined 3.9 HH TV rating and average of 6.1M TV and digital viewers, the 2019 NFL Draft was 74
the highest-rated and most-watched Draft ever, breaking records established just a year ago. In total, all NFL Draft telecasts combined to reach more than 47.5 million television viewers over the three-day event, up 5 percent vs. 2018. Many of those in Nashville not attending the NFL Draft in-person were watching from home, as the market combined for a 10.6 HH rating – up 104 percent versus Nashville last year, and up 74 percent versus the 2018 host city. “The 2019 NFL Draft was a tremendous continuation of the celebration of the NFL’s 100th season and an opportunity to welcome the next generation of stars,” said NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. “Dramatic and emotional storylines played out in cities across the country with the energetic host city of Nashville serving as a breathtaking backdrop to hundreds of thousands of passionate fans who lined the streets and enjoyed a unique NFL Draft Experience. We congratulate our newest players and their families and thank the Tennessee Titans, the Nashville Convention and Visitors Corp., the City of Nashville, the volunteers, and everyone who made the Draft such a memorable, entertaining, and successful experience.”

NISSAN STADIUM
Home of the Titans Since Inaugural 1999 Season ON JUNE 25, 2015, the Titans and Nissan North America announced the formation of a 20-year, exclusive naming-rights partnership that rebranded Nashville’s downtown stadium as Nissan Stadium. Nissan Stadium hosts all Titans home football games, Tennessee State University home football games, the Music City Bowl, international soccer games, concerts, the CMA Music Festival and numerous other events. The procurement of naming rights to Nissan Stadium fit the automotive company’s ‘Fewer, Bigger, Better’ marketing strategy, which has included ongoing sponsorships of NBC’s The Voice, the Heisman House college football program and a major advertising presence at the Super Bowl. Nissan is also known as the official automotive partner of the Tennessee Titans. Nissan’s ever-growing footprint in Tennessee includes vehicle and powertrain manufacturing facilities in Smyrna and Decherd respectively, along with its North American headquarters in Franklin. The Nissan Smyrna plant began operations in 1983 and employs more than 8,400 people. In 2014, the Smyrna plant assembled more than 648,000 vehicles, making it the highest volume automotive assem-

bly plant in North America. Nissan also has a major manufacturing presence in Canton, Miss., along with research and development groups in California, Arizona and Michigan. In total, the company employs more than 22,000 employees in the U.S. An important component of the Titans-Nissan partnership is assisting charitable organizations throughout Middle Tennessee in an array of community outreach programs. A centerpiece of this is the annual “Taste of Titans” charitable event, for which Nissan serves as presenting sponsor and which this year benefited the ALS Association, Tennessee Chapter. During the course of a 20-year relationship, a total of more than $1 million resulting from these annual events is anticipated to be distributed to local nonprofit organizations. Nissan Stadium is a city-owned venue that has housed the Titans since 1999. The naming rights agreement included the opportunity for Nissan branding on the exterior of the stadium, as well as stadium signage and other unique displays inside the stadium. LP Building Products previously held the naming rights to the stadium since 2006.

SAINT THOMAS SPORTS PARK Team Headquarters and Practice Facility of the Tennessee Titans
ON MAY 15, 1998, the team selected a 31-acre site at the MetroCenter complex in Nashville as the team’s permanent practice location. Since that time, a beautiful multimillion-dollar facility has been built by Nashville- based Powell Building Group on the property, located just north of downtown Nashville about five miles from Nissan Stadium. The team moved into the facility on Aug. 26, 1999, the day after training camp completed and the day before the first preseason game at Nissan Stadium. The 80,000-square-foot building contains a state-of-the-art locker room, weight rooms, a training room, cafeteria, broadcast studio, meeting rooms and offices for coaches, players and administrative staff. The building also features an auditorium with seating for 125 people, as well as other meeting rooms. Designed to exceed the standards of all previous training and practice facilities, the weight training center and rehabilitation treatment facility sets the model for all professional sports. The facility boasts three outdoor practice fields with natural grass, plus an enclosed field. Logistically, each field is identical to the playing surface at Nissan Stadium, from the 100-yard length to the geographic orientation. The longitudinal center of 98
each field is 24 degrees west of north, just like the field at Nissan Stadium, enabling the Titans to practice in the same slanting sunlight they face on Sundays. Powell, a leading builder in Middle Tennessee, was chosen for its state-of-the-art construction planning and building techniques. The facility occupies a beautiful site chosen from over 60 reviewed locations; a lakefront peninsula across from the Fountain Square commercial development located within a few miles from downtown Nashville.
