STROKE MASTER
Nick Kyrgios’ fearless last eight showing at Wimbledon showcased how having confidence in the execution of your shots can lead to remarkable results.
What do you see?
Shoulders are turned and are aligned to the oncoming ball. This creates a slight separation angle as the shoulders have rotated past the hips. The separation angle will contribute to the speed of the forward swing. The arms are away from the body to allow the trunk to rotate effectively and the hands/racquet to accelerate away from the body and down the court. Eyes are focused on the ball and head is still. Note: The head is inch for inch the heaviest part of the human body and an early head movement can cause a mis-timed swing.
Lower body strength allows for a wide leg base which supports an open stance. Simple backswing with the racquet on the edge and hands positioned just below the height of the oncoming ball. The forward swing will accelerate down the court.
