STROKE MASTER
In an era where serve has dominated the return in the men’s game, Lleyton Hewitt’s ability to consistently neutralise the serve has been admired by many, and forms the basis of this month’s analysis.
By driving off the ground Lleyton is able to find the appropriate contact height for the second serve return
What do you see? Lleyton’s head and eye gaze remains firmly fixated on the impact zone even after the ball has left his racquet
Neutral grips allow the full face of the racquet to be presented to the oncoming ball
An aggressive return intent is indicated by the forward court position, helping to take time away from his opponent post-serve A long hitting zone is demonstrated despite the return of serve often being an abbreviated stroke Great dynamic balance is evidenced, helping to support the quality of the return
