Terberg Automotive joins Royal Terberg Group

Terberg Automotive (TA) was originally set up by another branch of the Terberg family. Today, it is part of the Environmental division of the Royal Terberg Group (RTG).

The company specializes in designing and manufacturing electronic control and telematics systems that are used in various Terberg Environmental products. As digitalization continues to gain popularity and is increasingly utilized in our product lines, the RTG Board made a strategic decision to acquire TA in June 2022, acknowledging that TA would be a valuable addition to the group.

The history of TA and Terberg Connect

Directors Sandra Bek and Marco Overbeek “We had many years’ experience in industrial control and generator systems with remote access. The remote access hardware seemed like a natural fit and a useful companion to the control systems we were already supplying to Terberg for their bin lifts. Terberg Connect was launched in 2020 and its timely introduction certainly proved invaluable during the pandemic, the technology is now a standard feature on all bin lifts. It can also be connected to refuse bodies and vehicle chassis.

Terberg Connect provides real-time access to all relevant parameters. This allows our support team to identify and troubleshoot vehicle problems remotely. In some cases, issues like operator errors can be resolved remotely, but if a service van must be dispatched, we ensure that it carries the appropriate parts for a fix-first-time solution. Additionally, Connect features a secure function for remotely updating software. Vehicle owners can use Connect standalone or integrate it with their fleet management system to optimize their operations and save time and fuel.

Worldwide application

Terberg Connect utilizes 3G, 4G, and 5G networks, depending on the region and we now have FCC approval along with the first units installed on the Dennis Eagle ProView chassis for the American market.

Our system is highly adaptable and can connect to a Controller Area Network (CAN) bus, making it compatible with other RTG company products. This highlights the strategic importance of Terberg Connect to the Terberg Group. Terberg Techniek is already installing the system on their state-of-the-art electric Power Take-Offs (PTOs) and portable hydrogen (H2) power units.

Terberg Control Systems (TCS)

Our sister company TCS specializes in electric power management systems. These systems optimize a site’s power needs by utilizing multiple sources of electricity (such as grid, local generation, solar cells, and batteries) to minimize supply interruptions and costs. These systems are also relevant to Terberg’s customers, who need to balance their vehicle charging requirements with other power demands.
