MOTHER MOTHER
Saturday, January 29, 2022 at 10:30 AM First Baptist Church of Warrington 105 Gulf Beach Highway | Pensacola, FL 32507 Dr. James H. Miller, Sr. Pastor
Mrs. Julia Eleanor Robinson Bell passed away quietly during her sleep on Thursday, January 20, 2022. She was affectionately known by her church friends and family as “Mother Bell”. Mother Bell was born in Santa Rosa County on February 13, 1920 to her devoted parents, John Henry and Cleo Gains Robinson and was the youngest of 6 children. She then went on to spend the last 80 + years of her life in Escambia County. She displayed a gift for learning starting at a young age. Mother Bell attended Magnolia Schools in Santa Rosa County then attended Washington Senior High School in the 12th grade and earned her school diploma while living in Pensacola. Mother Bell also attended Florida Memorial College and Florida A&M University. She later shared her gift by teaching school in Bagdad and Chumuckla. Mother Bell was married to Rev. James Bell, Sr., and they shared a beautiful family with 3 children. Although her husband had an untimely death at age (2 Minutes Please) 37, Mother Bell continued to rear her children with the nurturing and care that she and her husband originally intended. Her heart filled with love extended beyond her natural children. God had given her a heart of love that ran deep and as wide as the ocean. She adopted so many children, young ladies and young men. Genuine love she shared, genuine love she embraced and genuine love she kept; always to spread to those that were homeless, motherless, sick or a friend in need. Mother Bell, a mother indeed, a grandmother indeed, a great-grandmother, yes indeed. She didn’t just love one generation of family; as each individual family grew, she added them to her heartfelt family. The record will reflect that Mother Bell was a true disciple in her home, her church, in the community and even an inspiration to her doctors. Mother Bell was eloquent and always dressed for the occasion. She wasn’t a millionaire, but in the eyes of many, she was a treasure in their eyesight and heart. She filled many voids though her lifespan on earth. What little she had, she shared it to feed and nourish the souls of many. She gave gifts to many and made sure that she always gave gifts to her Pastor and 1st Lady on Pastor’s anniversary that always included her delicious “Jelly Cake”. She talked with the young adults and didn’t make them feel ashamed or unwanted. As a young adult, when you saw Mother Bell, you saw and felt love. She was concerned about each young adult and followed their success as they went off to college and built careers. She was so proud of them all!
Life Reflections Mother Bell was also a dynamic business woman. As a very hands on, hardworking member of First Baptist Church of Warrington, she made it her business to ensure that the youth at FBC would grow up to be well spoken and educated citizens. Many times, she was working behind the scenes to ensure things were in place. She organized the J.R. Bell Young Adult Usher Board and coordinated Women Day in the past. Well into her 100’s, Mother Bell continued to organize Youth Sunday and the Church Scholarship efforts. She spearheaded the growth of the J.M. Bell/Eva A. Watts Scholarship Foundation, partnering with several multi million dollar corporations to award over $65K in scholarships to 70+ recipients. Since 1991, she led the effort to bring together former and new scholarship recipients together in fellowship and recognition . Each year, she would complete fundraisers, review scholarship applications and support her church and Pastor to the fullest extent. The banquets were truly a blessing to see as new graduates were able to watch former recipients give testimony of their advanced degrees and thriving careers. And she always made sure that the food catered by COLES Wings was hot and delicious! Minutes Please) Every 2nd Sunday for over 40 years, she(2would organize youth volunteers (who were also volun-“told”) to speak on a special topic. All of the topics were prepared and or written by Mother Bell. They might not have realized it initially, but she was grooming them for greatness. Teaching them that what they had to say was important and that they had a special gift to give the Body of Christ and all that graced the Church on those Sundays. No matter how nervous they started out, you could see each speaker gain confidence as the years went by. The church always showered them with support when they finished. She would sit in her corner pew and beam with pride, knowing that each presenter gained a little piece of God’s grace that day.
Mother Bell is loved by people of all generations; from way, way back to the present. Her spirit will always be a part of FBC. Mother Bell was preceded in death by her parents, John Henry and Cleo Gains Robinson; her Husband: Rev. James Michael Bell Sr., Son: James Michael Bell Jr. ; Brothers: Earnie Robinson and Aristeal Robinson (Ira S); Sisters: Ruby Robinson Williams (Carl), Theresa Robinson Ellis (Richard) and Areatha Robinson; and a special Nephew: Carl Ellis (Angela - living). Precious Memories
I’ve only just a minute, Only sixty seconds in it. Forced upon me, can’t refuse it, Didn’t seek it, didn’t choose it, But it’s up to me to use it. I must suffer if I lose it, Give an account if I abuse it, Just a tiny little minute, But eternity is in it. By: Benjamin E. Mays
