Informational center for the future leaders
Informational center “Window on America for the future leaders� successfully operates in Ternopil oblast library for youth from 2005. This center was opened at assistance Embassy of the USA in Ukraine.
The mission of the center is to promote mutual understanding between the United States
and
Ukraine
through
providing
information about USA (it’s history, culture, government, society, economy); realizing of educational,
cultural
and
information
programs; providing free access to Internet resources;
augmentation
the
language collections of the library.
English-
The center contains about 2000 interesting and exclusive books, magazines and CD-ROMS. Here you will find up-to-date information from all fields of knowledge.
Visitors can use various encyclopedias, dictionaries, reference books.
Also they can read original fiction and poetry.
The fund is filled up with collection of exclusive video disks for children.
People who dream about scientific activity and education abroad can be interested by the series of multimedia editions for preparation to the international certification tasks of TOEFL, SAT and others.
The center is also a place for seminars, presentations, literature discussions, meetings with interesting people, exhibitions and other events that promote mutual understanding and friendship between Ukrainians and Americans.
For the English language admires in the Center every Tuesday operates English Speaking Club.
English Speaking Club – it is colloquial intercourse of the English language, interesting and eccentric meetings, discussions, knowledge improvement and language practice.
Every summer within the limits of English Speaking club in the center is held English Speaking Week.
Every Thursday operates Movie club (a revision and discussion of films).
Cartoon travels are held in the center for juniors.
On July 2009 with the help of Peace Corp Volunteers it was organized summer camp for children-orphans of Ternopil regional refuge «Orphan’s future».
In November traditional is celebration of Halloween.
On the New Year there are costumed parties in the center.
The new tradition began on February 14, 2011 – “Speed dating” parties for our visitors.
Students and English language teachers can get a methodical help in the Center. Recently it was developed recommendation list of books and sites for language learners.
The center workers is participants of annual studies, organizes by USA Embassy in Ukraine.
There is computer workplaces for visitors where they can search information and learn English on different levels according to Rosetta Stone system. All access is free of charge. There is also WiFi-zone.
