THE ACADEMIC

W

Recent destination schools include: Winchester College, Manchester Grammar School, Harrow School, Cheadle Hulme School, Rugby School, Concord College.

Academic success is at the core of all we do. Our small class sizes combined with our individual approach ensures that all children achieve their full academic potential.

THE INDIVIDUAL

W

“Terra Nova’s academic, sporting and artistic record speaks for itself. I am so impressed with the way the school manages to identify and nurture individual talents in every single pupil.” TN parent

Unique talents are nurtured and find an outlet through our curriculum. We look to develop children’s passions and strengths for a range of curricular and extracurricular activities, finding the one that ignites their imagination.

Pupils take part in a myriad of sporting activities, from cricket to netball, rugby to shooting, and many of our pupils play for their county. Respect, manners and tolerance are integral in all aspects of school life.

Sport is essential to life at TN and children develop their own individual sporting goals, and learn how to become great team players. These skills also apply to their roles within school and children take personal responsibility for their peers and younger counterparts.

THE PERFORMER

W

“With so many opportunities, Terra Nova gave me the bug to get involved with everything and try new things, and it’s where my love of music began. TN doesn’t just churn out excellent academic results; it concentrates on making children well-rounded and confident individuals.” Amelia Anderson, former TN pupil and Music student at Oxford University

Music and Drama play a huge role in life at TN. Children from all years are encouraged to participate in performances, and there are ample opportunities to showcase their talents.

W

Every two years we hold a professionally-staged Art and Design Technology Exhibition, where every child’s work from Nursery through to Year 8 is on display. We successfully prepare many of our pupils for Art & DT scholarships.

Exploring through expression is vital for children, and at TN pupils’ imaginations are ignited through Art and Design Technology, delivered by specialist teachers, from an early age. This allows us to be at the cutting-edge of art and design and enables our children to create their own masterpieces.

Taking part in Forest School activities is one way that our pupils can venture into the unknown and leave their comfort zone, building fires, using tools, and working in the great outdoors.

Our children are able to challenge and push boundaries in a safe environment, which supports them in their desire to excel and to grow in confidence. Taking risks, inspiring trailblazers, and encouraging pupils to learn from mistakes are all part of the Terra Nova journey.

THE SCIENTIST

W

“Terra Nova is one of the best places to grow and learn. You will be prepared for your future, but you will have plenty of fun along the way. Christopher Martin, former TN pupil and Chemical Engineering student at Cambridge University

Enquiry and exploration lead to innovation and progression, and pupils are supported in seeking answers to challenges in the classroom and beyond.

In Years 7&8 pupils complete The Griffin Award, designed to help them learn to lead, recognise their strengths and weaknesses, organise themselves and others and contribute to the wider community.

Teaching leadership and entrepreneurial skills is integral to the TN Baccalaureate. Pupils develop self-motivation, communication and decision-making skills to equip them with the resources for the challenges of senior school and beyond.

THE PROGRAMMER

W

Understanding programming is becoming an ever important part of today’s world. Problem solving is central to future career success, and our pupils are encouraged and supported from Nursery to seek answers to their own questions. Self-inquiry and imagination are vital to develop a sharp mind.

Exploring today’s world through technology is imperative for children, and studying patterns and sequences allows them to answer complex problems. Our pupils learn how to safely develop their digital skills.

THE ROLE MODEL & FRIEND

W

Our buddy system pairs older and younger children, giving the youngest a friendly face that they can rely on when they move from Juniors to Seniors.

All pupils are expected to demonstrate good manners and empathy in order to promote friendship. Terra Nova’s size means that close bonds are formed across all year groups, and pupils go out of their way to support each other.
