RIGHT Monica poses with Tyler Perry, a guest on the Steve Harvey Show.

I see that you have a background in the Counseling and Rehabilitation field, how were you able to go from that background to the radio broadcasting field?

It was an easy transition and although it took a lot of training to get acclimated to a new career, it was a fun change of pace with a great group of people and I now get to work on the #1 syndicated morning show in the country!

There is never a dull moment when you work with Steve Harvey.”

RIGHT Monica T. Barnes is a guest on the Steve Harvey Show.

What is it like working with Steve Harvey? There is never a dull moment when you work with Steve Harvey. I have learned a lot and laughed a lot from a true comedic legend and talented man. Who introduced you to him? I was having lunch with a friend at a restaurant in Atlanta and Steve Harvey, his business partner and Shirley Strawberry were at the same restaurant. It was a chance encounter. When we met, Harvey and his partner were teasing me and when I responded with

my own jokes, they thought I was totally crazy. I didn’t care if he was famous or not… if you mess with me, I’m firing back at you! Did you ever imagine work-

ing with someone like Steve? Of course I never expected to ever leave my career in the mental health field, but one of my favorite sayings is, “If you want to make God laugh, tell him YOUR plan.” I never imagined a career in radio.

Tell us about your postion with the Steve Harvey Morning Radio Show? I am the Producer of the Steve Harvey Morning Show and I produce the daily content for the show, schedule all guests on the show and manage all current promotions and sponsors on the morning show. I wake up daily at 3:30am and have a conference call Monday – Friday at 4:30am with the production team to ensure flawless execution of the radio show. After the morning show wraps at 10am, I resume my other duties of booking guests, working with sponsors and prepping the next day’s show. Who are some of the most famous people you

have met while working with the show? There are so many great people that I work with and have booked for the show, like Tyler Perry, Rev. Al Sharpton, Oprah Winfrey, Kevin Hart, John Legend, Al Green, Patti LaBelle, Ron Isley, Eddie Levert, Boris Kodjoe, Shemar Moore, Morris Chestnut, Gabrielle Union, and many, many more!

You were recently featured on the Steve Harvey Show for a Match-Making episode with Steve Harvey, were you nervous at all when you appeared on the show? I was very nervous at first, when I filmed my episode on the Steve Harvey talk show… The producers asked me several times to do it, before I consented to do it. But, once I got on the set with Steve Harvey, it was just like another day at work and it felt like we were just having normal conversation. My true personality came out! How did the match making go? The guy I selected lives in Atlanta and since I currently live in Chicago, the distance is a disadvantage. We keep in touch through calls and texts and have seen each other a few times since we met. He’s a great

guy and we’ll see what happens! What advice would you give to someone who is pursuing a position such as yours? I don’t consider myself as the best person to give

advice to someone pursuing a career in this field, as I was not formally trained in radio to produce a nationally syndicated radio show. I will say, however, that you need to be very organized, with attention to detail and be able to multi-task.

While people waited on the Christ or Messiah, there was a great loss of polical prestiege abused over and over again. God decided that God would give the ulitmate sacrifice as Jesus. In this method, God and Jesus are both the same. God did something that God had not done before, that was to die for creation and had to come back to life. 5 TIPS

TO DECORATE FOR THE HOLIDAYS

By Thomas Roots Interior Designer

12

1

My first tip is, don’t destroy the house. Don’t destroy the house by taking it all apart. If you work around most of the things you have, you won’t begrudge the after Xmas redo of the house and getting it back together.

3

Make a small party out of putting up your Xmas Decorations.

4

Try to utilize a lot of the nature that surrounds your envirnoment.

5

You can never go wrong with candles, candles, candles.

But make sure you withhold the hoursederves and cocktails until you get most of the hard work out of the way.

Such as taking Magnolia leaves and incorporating them into your garland and decor. Pine cones and Spanish moss work well also.

2

Try to utilize a color palette that looks well and compliments your house.

If they are pillar candles, wrap them in glitter. It gives a very attractive and authentic old fashioned xmas look. But never forget that special Holiday attire. Know that it only comes once a year and you should always look fabulous with your Holiday best. Catch you at the holiday soirees luv.

This simple tip is probably overlooked in many christmas decorating projects. Color coodinating with the colors that you already have in your home gives an overall better estetic impression.
