Continued Success on the Ruby Pipeline Tesmec USA, Inc. (located in Alvarado, Texas), worldwide leader in the design, manufacturing and service of high performance trenchers, highlights our previous success with the Ruby Pipeline project. According to Ruby Pipeline’s website (www.rubypipeline.com), “The Ruby Pipeline is a win-win project for natural gas consumers and producers. It represents an approximate $3 billion investment in new pipeline infrastructure that will connect clean-burning and competitively priced natural gas reserves in the Rocky Mountain region with growing markets in the western United States. The Project includes approximately 680 miles of 42-inch natural gas transmission pipeline, beginning at the Opal Hub in Wyoming and terminating at interconnects near Malin, Oregon. The Project has an initial design capacity of up to 1.5 billion cubic feet per day (Bcf/d) Tesmec TRS 1375 bucket machine operating on Ruby Pipeline and will traverse portions of four states: Wyoming, Utah, Nevada, and Oregon. Four compressor stations are proposed for the project: one near the Opal Hub in southwestern Wyoming; one south of Curlew Junction, Utah; one at the mid-point of the project, north of Elko, Nevada; and one in northwestern Nevada.”

Tesmec USA, Inc. equipment has proven to be indispensable in the Ruby Pipeline project. There are up to ten Tesmec trenchers working on the Ruby Pipeline project at one time, while the machines vary in size and description, the production that is being reported is quite impressive. Tesmec machines are averaging daily production in dirt, according to the pipeline contractor, of 5,000 feet per day, per machine. While on location at the Ruby Pipeline, a Tesmec Field Service Representative reported, for a full day’s digging operation, a production rate of 19,000 feet between 2 machines (Tesmec TRS-1475 & TRS-1375). The trenches created a consist depth of approximately 7.5 feet and a width of 60 inches during the full day’s digging operation. This production rate equated to 19,000 feet between 2 trenchers, equivalent to 26,389 3 yd . To put this output in perspective, the amount of material being unearthed, each day, by these two Tesmec machines is equal to filling up 3 1,320 dump trucks with 20 yd capacities. The decision to utilize Tesmec trenchers over Tesmec TRS 1475 bucket machine operating on Ruby Pipeline other methods of products was a decision based on productivity and cost. The output capability of one Tesmec trencher is equivalent to 4 to 6 excavators or track hoes in terms of overall production. Needless to say, the success of the Tesmec trenchers on the Ruby Pipeline is yet another example of how Tesmec USA, Inc. is leading the way in productivity and cost reduction in the trenching industry. With over 27 years of design, manufacturing and service experience in the United States, Tesmec USA, Inc. has solidified itself as the worldwide leader in the high performance trencher industry. Focused on providing our customers with quality equipment is the cornerstone for success in the trenching/excavating industry.
