ENVIRONMENTAL OPPORTUNITIES: A CHALLENGE TO SEIZE

Tesmec has always been extremely sensitive to the environmental and safety problems. We are working according to the European Environmental Plan (20 - 20 - 20 by 2020): + 20% efficiency: Tesmec Group’s goal is the improvement of long distance transport and integration of renewable energy sources. Tesmec has a “Strong Grid Vision”: we are working to accelerate the construction of “Strong Grid” with UHV (Ultra High Voltage) networks as necessary condition of Smart Grid. + 20% energy from renewable sources: Electrical system powered by renewable sources are experiencing a strong development but there are considerable difficulties in their expansion because of problems arising from delays and lacks of grid interconnection. Renewable have high variability and instability of generation and existing networks can manage only low levels of variability. This is the reason why Strong and Smart Grid are needed. Tesmec is operating in projects aiming at development of renewable sources (for example the wind energy project “No trees” in Texas, completed in 2008) and it is collaborating with consortiums and research institutes working on this theme. - 20% emissions of carbon dioxide: Tesmec machines have engines with low noise and low pollution emission, we choose the best components to avoid leakage of lubricating and hydraulic fluids and we try to avoid the use of polluting material. A lot of technical department and financial resources are dedicated to keep all the machines range updated with the last generation of Diesel Engine. We achieved a dramatic reduction of pollution in last years with the Diesel engine move from Tier 1 to Tier 4.

SVILUPPO SOSTENIBILE E SICUREZZA: SFIDE DA COGLIERE Tesmec è sempre stata particolarmente attenta alle questioni ambientali e della sicurezza. Stiamo agendo nell’ottica del Piano Ambientale Europeo (20 - 20 - 20 entro il 2020): + 20% di efficienza energetica: Il Gruppo Tesmec ha come obiettivo il miglioramento del trasporto a lunga distanza e l’integrazione delle fonti di energia rinnovabili. Tesmec ha una “Strong Grid Vision”: stiamo lavorando per accelerare la costruzione di reti “forti” ad altissimo voltaggio, ben strutturate e interconnesse, come condizione necessaria per lo sviluppo delle Smart Grid, reti intelligenti. + 20% di produzione di energia da fonti rinnovabili: Gli impianti elettrici alimentati da fonti rinnovabili incontrano difficoltà nella loro espansione a causa di problemi derivanti da ritardi e carenze nella interconnessione alla rete elettrica. Le fonti rinnovabili presentano infatti forte variabilità ed instabilità di generazione, ma le reti attuali riescono a gestire solo modesti livelli di variabilità. Da qui la necessità di reti forti e intelligenti. Tesmec è impegnata in progetti sullo sviluppo di impianti alimentati da fonti rinnovabili (per esempio il progetto “No Trees” in Texas per l’energia eolica, completato nel 2008) e sta collaborando con consorzi e istituti di ricerca attivi su questo tema. - 20% di emissioni di anidride carbonica: Le macchine Tesmec montano motori con ridotte emissioni e livelli di rumore molto bassi. Scegliamo i migliori componenti per evitare perdite di lubrificanti e fluidi idraulici e cerchiamo di evitare l’uso di materiali inquinanti. Molte risorse tecniche e finanziarie sono dedicate all’aggiornamento continuo della gamma prodotti all’ultima generazione di motori diesel. Negli anni, con il passaggio da Tier 1 a Tier 4 abbiamo raggiunto una drastica riduzione delle emissioni inquinanti.

FOCUS: TRENCHER NEW CONTRACTS

Four trenchers TRS1475 are excavating a 375 km pipeline until the end of 2010

IN SOUTH AFRICA FOR A “WORLD” EXCAVATION

Tesmec S.p.A. was awarded an important supply contract for the construction of the new pipeline “New Multi-Product Pipeline”, located between Durban and Jameson Park, in South Africa. The project is 540 km long and it has a value of approximately 200 million Euros. It was commissioned by the South African company Transnet Limited to the Joint Venture between Spiecapag, the world’s giant oil pipeline construction company and Group 5, one of the largest construction companies in South Africa. The JV sub-contractor, who is digging the ditch, is extensively using Tesmec Trenchers. The length of the trench for this new pipeline is 375 km, the excavation is 92 cm width with a depth between 1.90 meters and 2.40 meters, largely in very hard and abrasive rock. Tesmec model TRS1475 trenchers are working on the project. Tesmec trenchers work with low environmental impact, reducing emissions and producing usable backfill material which provides significant logistic cost advantages. This is part of a larger project that involves the construction of a second pipeline of 160 km, in the region of Johannesburg, expected to be completed by the end of 2010. With this supply contract, Tesmec introduces its technology and advanced integrated systems in South Africa and consolidates their position in the market of digging in hard rock, where the Tesmec Group has specialized since 1984.

IN SUD AFRICA PER UNO SCAVO “DA MONDIALE” Tesmec S.p.A. si è aggiudicata un importante contratto di fornitura per l’esecuzione dei lavori di scavo di trincea per la nuova linea - New Multi-Product Pipeline - dell’oleodotto situato fra Jameson Park e Durban, in Sud Africa. Il progetto, del valore di circa 200 milioni di euro e commissionato dalla società sudafricana Transnet Limited, è stato subappaltato alla Joint Venture tra Spiecapag, una delle maggiori imprese francesi impegnate in lavori pipeline e Group 5, una delle principali imprese di costruzione di infrastrutture in Sud Africa. La JV che sta effettuando lo scavo sta ampiamente utilizzando i Trencher Tesmec. Lo scavo consiste nella realizzazione di una trincea della lunghezza di 375 km, di larghezza costante 92 cm e di profondità variabile fra 1,90 m e 2,40 m, in buona parte da realizzare in terreno roccioso estremamente duro ed abrasivo. Per l’esecuzione degli scavi sono impiegati quattro Trencher modello TRS1475. L’utilizzo dei Trencher Tesmec consente di minimizzare l’impatto ambientale degli scavi, riducendo al minimo sia le emissioni inquinanti che il volume del materiale scavato (grazie alla possibilità di realizzare lo scavo a sezione finita) che risulta inoltre immediatamente riutilizzabile per il successivo riempimento dello scavo (con vantaggi anche logistici e di costo). L’opera si inserisce in un più ampio progetto che prevede anche la realizzazione di una seconda conduttura della lunghezza di 160 km nella regione di Johannesburg, ed il suo completamento è previsto entro la fine del 2010. Grazie a questo importante contratto il Gruppo Tesmec entra a pieno titolo nel mercato sudafricano con la sua tecnologia all’avanguardia ed i suoi sistemi integrati, e consolida la sua posizione nel mercato dello scavo in roccia dura, dove la società opera dal 1984.

РАБОТА В ЮАР ДЛЯ ЧЕМПИОНАТА МИРА Траншеекопатели Tesmec мод. TRS1475 будут применяться в ЮАР до конца 2010 г. для строительства 375 км нефтепровода между Jameson Park и Durban. Тендер на выполнение работ был выигран южноафриканской компанией Transnet Limited, которая определила субподрядчиком по работам совместное предприятие между компанией Spiecapag и Group 5. СП успешно и давно использует для работ траншеекопатели Tesmec. Копание шириной 92 см и глубиной от 1,90 м до 2,40 м не имеет сильного воздействия на окружающую среду, так как траншеекопатели Tesmec минимизируют объем выкопанного материала, применимого для обратной засыпки, что в свою очередь также является преимуществом в осуществлении экономии и в логистике. Благодаря данному контракту, Концерн Tesmec внедрил свои машины с новейшей технологией копания точного сечения в скалистых грунтах, сектор в котором присутствует на первых позициях с 1984 года и в Южной Африке.

THE AMERICAN GROWTH GOES ON Extensive development of the commercial network; Major commitment in production and purchasing; Recruitment of young engineers; Enhancement of after-sales service. These are the key factors highlighted by Andrea Zamboni, CEO of Tesmec USA, driving the growth of the manufacturing plant in Texas in 2006-2007. (See Tesmec News N°2, March 2008). What results have the implemented strategies achieved in the last 24 months? Z: «We started the expansion of the manufacturing plant in 2008, doubling the covered area from 8,000 to 16,000 sqm, including modernization of the existing plant. We also established a manufacturing fabrication department, purchasing a number of high tech quality machine tools. We consider these investments with a view of our growth over the next 5 to 10 years. With these tools, we will realize significant cost savings on materials and a reduction of production and after-sales parts inventory. We entered into the Mexico and Canada markets in 2009 with direct presence of Tesmec resident sales representatives. With the market in Canada beginning to improve from 2009, we are seeing positive results in Canada during the first quarter of 2010. The Mexico market is still slow, however we do have trenchers committed on a major pipeline project beginning in March 2010 in Mexico».

CONTINUA LA CRESCITA A STELLE E STRISCE Uno sviluppo capillare della rete commerciale, un grande impegno per la Produzione e gli Acquisti, l’assunzione di giovani ingegneri ed il potenziamento dei servizi post-vendita. Questi i principali fattori, individuati da Andrea Zamboni, CEO di Tesmec USA, nella crescita della sede produttiva texana nel biennio 2006-2007. (Vedi Tesmec News N°2, Marzo 2008). Quali sono le strategie messe in campo negli ultimi 24 mesi? E i risultati recenti degni di nota? Z: «Nel 2008 abbiamo avviato l’ampliamento dello stabilimento, raddoppiando i mq coperti disponibili da 8.000 a 16.000, con anche ammodernamenti degli impianti esistenti. Abbiamo avviato un reparto di lavorazioni con l’acquisto di alcune macchine utensili. In un’ottica di 5 o anche 10 anni otterremo notevoli risparmi sui costi materiali nonchè riduzione di magazzino. Nel 2009 abbiamo iniziato a crescere in Messico e Canada con presenza diretta di nostri uomini sul mercato. In Canada ci attendiamo ottimi risultati già nel 1° trimestre 2010, superata l’attuale fase di mercato».

The world crisis has seriously damaged the United States. Was there an impact of this crisis in your sector? Z: «Of course. The crisis in industrial machinery in USA has been significant. We managed to overcome this situation thanks to our international presence and some special orders diversified from the traditional production. The American market is still attractive, for the trencher business. We expect investment recovery on renewable energy, infrastructures and pipeline markets during 2010. When the housing market crisis is over we will see a positive turn in general construction, but we don’t see this happening until 2011, at the earliest. Many US groups are operating in large projects abroad, and this is a target market for 2010».

La crisi mondiale, che ha duramente colpito gli Stati Uniti, ha avuto ripercussioni anche nel vostro settore? Z: «In USA la crisi nel settore macchine industriali e’ stata dura, ma siamo riusciti a venirne a capo grazie ad una esposizione internazionale del Gruppo e ad alcune commesse specifiche diversificate rispetto alla produzione tradizionale. Il mercato americano resta comunque uno dei più appetibili, anche per il ramo trencher, in quanto nei prossimi anni ci attendiamo, nell’ordine, una ripresa degli investimenti sulle energie rinnovabili, sulle infrastrutture, pipeline ed infine il general contracting quando sarà finita la crisi immobiliare. Inoltre molti grandi gruppi USA sono attivi in megaprogetti anche all’estero, e questo e’ un mercato target per il 2010».

What are your goals for the next two years and how are you going to achieve them? Z. «Our goal is to grow by being more sensitive and pro-active in meeting the market demands and needs according to the changing market conditions: long term rentals, increased involvement in non covered markets, direct contact with large construction companies and major accounts, initiate actions in very interesting and growing markets such as Brazil and Australia and attention to operating capital. How can we achieve this? By working smarter and harder».

Quali sono gli obiettivi per il prossimo biennio e come intendete raggiungerli? Z: «Crescere servendo il mercato secondo le mutate condizioni, quindi molti affitti a lungo termine, presidiare direttamente i mercati non coperti, entrare in presa diretta con i grandi gruppi di costruzione, iniziare azioni su mercati molto interessanti quali Brasile e Australia, e contenere il capitale di funzionamento. Come? Lavorando molto e in maniera intelligente».

NEWS IN STRINGING DIVISION

2009 has been a big news year for stringing division, both in machine and equipment division, in particular with reference to new generation conductors: big diameter conductors, HTLS (High Temperature Low Sag), underground cables. Two new 140 kN single machines has been added in the large diameter conductors range: tensioner FRS615 and puller-tensioner AFS610, plus the modular machines concept extension at puller ARS700 and tensioner FRB600. These machines allow the possibility to combine light weight and dimension at the modularity concept, that means the possibility to use standard machines for multi conductor bundle jobs (6 or 8 conductor per phase) via connection of machines both at puller and tensioner station. Two twin tensioner FRB616 with 1700 mm capstan are in production: this machines are suitable for conductor up to 46 mm diameter and modular use. The co-operation with RTE France for a new clamp typology set-up able to work with ACSSTW (Aluminum Conductor Self Supporting Trapezoidal Wire) conductor, which is very soft on the external layer and easily damaged in handling and stringing operations, is important in the HTLS conductor range. The first dedicate Underground Catalogue has been published, including special dedicated machines and equipments. While editing this news the new 100 kN puller ARS607 is under manufacturing. An important news in equipment division: new IEEE Std 524tm whole groove nylatron sectors for stringing blocks, that allow to use Tesmec blocks in US and countries where the IEEE standard is required.

NOVITÀ NELLA DIVISIONE TESATURA Il 2009 si è rivelato un anno di grandi novità per il settore tesatura, sia nella gamma macchine sia nelle attrezzature, con particolare riferimento ai conduttori di nuova generazione: conduttori di grande diametro, HTLS (High Temperature Low Sag), cavi interrati. Nella gamma prodotti per conduttori di grande diametro sono state realizzate due nuove macchine singole da 140 kN: freno FRS615 e argano-freno AFS610 e l’estensione all’argano ARS700 e al freno FRB600 del concetto di modularità; queste macchine abbinano alla leggerezza e compattezza la possibilità di essere utilizzate in configurazione modulare, ovvero abbinate fra loro, permettendo di utilizzare macchine standard per lavori di posa di linee a conduttori multipli (6 o 8 conduttori per fase) mediante accoppiamento delle macchine stesse sia al lato argano che al lato freno. Di recente allestimento, inoltre, i due freni binati FRB616 con cabestani 1700 mm, adatti per conduttori fino a 46 mm e all’utilizzo modulare. Nella gamma conduttori HTLS è da segnalare la collaborazione con RTE Francia per la messa a punto di una tipologia di morsetto adatto a lavorare con il conduttore ACSSTW (Aluminum Conductor Self Supporting Trapezoidal Wire), caratterizzato da estrema morbidezza del manto esterno, e quindi facilmente soggetto a danneggiamento durante la manipolazione e movimentazione. Nella gamma cavi interrati è stato redatto il primo catalogo specifico per questo settore, comprendente una serie di macchine ed attrezzature dedicate. Di recente costruzione l’argano da 100 kN ARS607. E’ doveroso ricordare un’importante innovazione nel settore attrezzature: sono stati definiti nuovi settori per carrucola a geometria avvolgente secondo la IEEE Std 524tm, che permettono di utilizzare le carrucole standard Tesmec negli Usa e in paesi dove questo standard è richiesto.

CONDUX-TESMEC INC. UPGRADING OF THE OBSOLETE TRANSMISSION NETWORK IN AMERICA

Tesmec S.p.A. of Italy and Condux International of USA have entered on June 1, 2009 into an equally shared Joint Venture; the new company is named Condux Tesmec Inc. and it is located in Mankato (Minnesota). The company has the exclusive right to sell the products manufactured by Tesmec and Condux for the use in the installation of high voltage overhead transmission lines in the territory of the United States and Canada. The company is a commercial entity and its task force actually comprises 6 people: the general manager, three sales managers, one after service and one customer service representative. In addition to direct sales, the three sales managers are also coordinating the activity of several independent sales representatives that are responsible for marketing the JV’s products in the following territories: western region and Canada with five Rep Agencies; eastern region with five Rep Agencies; south central region with one Rep Agency. The mission and task of the new company is to increase the market of the high transmission stringing equipment, to pursue opportunities, to expand and develop the list of products to the USA and Canada T&D market, considering that 40% of world energy is consumed in North America and that the US authorities will be providing important financial investments for the upgrading of the existing obsolete transmission network. The JV’s stringing equipment, compared to the products offered by the local manufacturers, represents the latest and safest stringing technology available in the market today. With Condux Tesmec’s equipment, utilities and contractors will increase their productivity and efficiency while limiting downtime and improving jobsite safety.

TESMEC AND SIMEST: TO ENHANCE BUSINESS GROWTH

On December 15, 2009 Tesmec S.p.A. signed with Simest S.p.A. (Italian company for businesses abroad) an agreement concerning the capital increase of Tesmec USA. The aim is to support the growth of production and commercial capacity of the North American subsidiary. Simest is the financial company for development and promotion of Italian enterprises abroad, controlled by the Italian government for 76% and participated by banks and business associations. The request was made to Simest on 1st July 2009 with reference to an investment program with the aim to increase the market share of Tesmec USA, increase sales in the neighboring markets (Mexico and Canada) and build a rental fleet of machines. Simest participates in Tesmec USA capital and there is a contribution in interests on the loan requested by Tesmec to finance the capital increase. The operation structure consisted in a capital increase of ca. 14 million USD (Tesmec USA capital from 7 to 21 million USD). Simest subscribed a share of 37%, while Tesmec subscribed the difference. Simest have 25% of the Tesmec USA capital and Tesmec the remaining part. The presence of Simest as shareholder in the Tesmec USA capital is a very positive factor because you can be part of a network of services that the Italian Government offers to the companies that represent the Italian export all over the world.

TESMEC E SIMEST: INSIEME PER RAFFORZARE LA CRESCITA Per sostenere la crescita della capacità produttiva e commerciale della controllata nordamericana, in data 15 dicembre 2009 Tesmec S.p.A. ha sottoscritto con Simest S.p.A. - Società Italiana per le Imprese all’Estero - un accordo avente ad oggetto il rafforzamento patrimoniale di Tesmec USA. Simest è la finanziaria di sviluppo e promozione delle imprese italiane all’estero, controllata dal Governo Italiano per il 76% del pacchetto azionario e partecipata da banche, associazioni imprenditoriali e di categoria. Tesmec ha avanzato la richiesta a luglio 2009, in merito ad un programma di investimenti necessario per incrementare la quota del mercato di Tesmec USA nel mercato locale, espandere le vendite nei mercati limitrofi (Messico e Canada) e costituire una flotta di macchine che possa essere gestita anche per noleggi al cliente. L’operazione porta un contributo in termini di ingresso di Simest nel capitale di Tesmec USA e di contributo in conto interessi su un finanziamento acceso da Tesmec per finanziare l’aumento di capitale. La struttura dell’operazione è consistita in un aumento di capitale di circa 14 milioni di USD che porta il capitale di Tesmec USA dagli attuali 7 milioni di USD a 21 milioni di USD. Di questo aumento Simest ha sottoscritto una quota pari al 37% e Tesmec la restante quota. Simest detiene quindi il 25% del capitale di Tesmec USA, il restante è in capo a Tesmec. La presenza nel capitale di Tesmec USA di un azionista come Simest rappresenta un fattore estremamente positivo anche perché si può contare sull’appartenenza ad un network di servizi che il Governo italiano mette a disposizione delle imprese che meglio rappresentano l’export italiano nel mondo.

TESMEC HI-TECH FOR CHINESE HIGH SPEED RAILWAY LINES

The Zhengzhou-Xi’an High Speed Passenger Dedicated Line (PDL) officially started the commercial running at February 6th 2010. Tesmec designed e manufactured dedicated constant tension stringing wagon for this project. The ZhengzhouXi’an railway line, which is the pilot line of China 13.000 km National PDL Grid Project, is a 505 km high speed passenger dedicated line with a 350 km/h designing running speed. It will reduce the running time between the Henan province and Shanxi province capitals from 7 hours to 1 hour 58 minutes. The safety and stability of continuous high speed running is based on a high quality catenary, which must be constructed by a high accuracy constant tension process. Tesmec developed new constant tension stringing technology has been chosen to apply in this challenge. Five Tesmec CFB536 stringing wagons equipped with the new technology completed all stringing work with a perfect quality evaluation inspected by Chinese Railways and project supervisor Balfour Beatty Rail. The testing running speed on Zhengzhou-Xi’an PDL reached 394,2 km/h, which is the highest record of worldwide high speed railway. Tesmec new generation constant tension stringing wagon is the result of important factors such as the consolidated capability of Tesmec in construction of stringing machines and stringing operation procedures, the collaboration with important experienced partners in construction of railways ancillary equipment and the key feedback experience by customers, Railways Bureaux as well construction companies. Tesmec railways equipment will play a key role in the most important projects in China. In year 2010, Tesmec new model CFB546 will be applied in Beijing-Shanghai PDL with a total length of 1.318 km, which will be the worldwide biggest PDL project estimated start running at year 2012.

La linea ferroviaria Zhengzhou-Xi’an, linea pilota che si inserisce nel progetto del National Grid cinese di costruzione di 13.000 km di linee dedicate ai passeggeri, è lunga 505 km e ha una velocità di marcia fino a 350 km/h. I vagoni ferroviari di nuova generazione progettati da Tesmec sono il risultato di fattori chiave quali la consolidata capacità di Tesmec nella costruzione di macchine e sistemi per la tesatura, la collaborazione con importanti partner in ambito ferroviario nonché la fondamentale esperienza di feedback da parte dei clienti, quali Railways Bureaux e società di costruzione. Gli equipaggiamenti ferroviari Tesmec ricopriranno un ruolo chiave nei progetti più importanti in Cina. Nel 2010, il nuovo modello Tesmec CFB546 sarà impiegato per la costruzione della PechinoShanghai, linea dedicata al trasporto passeggeri con una lunghezza totale di 1.318 km, il più grande progetto mondiale con previsioni di avvio nel 2012.

FOCUS: RAILWAYS EQUIPMENT Tesmec «хай-тек» для высокоскоростных китайских линиях 6 февраля начался запуск высокоскоростной линии Zhengzhou-Xi’an. Это пилотный проект крупного плана Национальной Китайской Ж/Д по строительству 13.000 км пассажирских линий. Длина данного проекта 505 км, с достижением скорости до 350 км/ч, позволяющее сократить время перемещения от столицы провинции Henan до столицы провинции Shanxi. Группа Тesmec внесла немалый вклад в успех данного проекта: безопасность и стабильность высокой скорости основанная на высококачественной контактной линии, которая должна быть установлена с помощью специализированных вагонов постоянного натяжения с предельной точностью. Новая технология, развитая Tesmес, была выбрана для решения данного вопроса. 5 вагонов CFB536 новой технологии закончили работу, получив самые высокие оценки со стороны китайских ж/д и их супервайзера – компании Balfour Beatty Rail. CREATING A SYSTEM TO GROW AND INNOVATE Tesmec has opted for a business model based on collaboration with other enterprises, academic world and research institutions to successfully overcome the new market dynamics. Tesmec entered Intellimech in 2008 and it joined Lombartech in 2009, aware of the strategic importance of “system” to seize growth opportunities. Intellimech is a consortium of companies, promoted by Kilometro Rosso, Confindustria Bergamo and Servitec, aimed at interdisciplinary research in mechatronics, including advanced electronics design, information technology, ICT systems and mechanics for applications in different industrial sectors. Lombartech, Lombard consortium for research and innovation in the textile industry and textile machinery, is proposed as a technological platform of excellence for development of projects with high added value; it is an incubator that can aggregate companies, scientific bodies and institutions generating a progress of shared skills and know-how (www.lombartech.eu). The collaboration with Italy-China Foundation shows the interest of Tesmec in the expansion on the Chinese market (www.italychina.org). Tesmec collaborates with Italian and international universities both in field of training programs and for participation in research bid. Only top universities graduated personnel are now working in Tesmec R&D, in order to face the high-tech content of projects and equipment and the complexity of commercial and trading aspects. Tesmec started a special students program with the Tsinghua University and Peking University in 2007 with the aim of training new Tesmec managers in China. Tesmec also works continuously with Politecnico di Milano and the University of Bergamo for the development of research projects and participation in tenders. This synergy has been a strategic alliance, which is necessary especially to meet the growing demand for innovation that comes from the market. WMW115 TRS: TESTS SHOW ITS VERSATILITY Tesmec periodically performs tests, both in Italy and abroad, to ensure the reliability of its machines and to improve their efficiency in various contexts and environmental conditions. Gallmac technical division recently evaluated the work of Gallmac WMW115 in two different configurations: with chain digging attachment and with rocksaw digging attachment. In November 2009, Tesmec made excavation tests with Gallmac WMW115 with chain digging attachment. These texts were made in England for the company Breheny. The jobsites were located along the motorway and the tests consisted in trenches on highway site: excavation width 30 cm, depth 70 cm. Goal of the work was the plastic pipes laying. The test was satisfactory and meaningful for time and type of work: Gallmac machine had an average productivity of 40 m/h on a ground of mixed soil, limestone in depth with the roots of trees and arm extension of 85%, having to pass a guardrail and with maximum of engine speed. The working conditions were not favorable at all. In November 2009, Tesmec made tests with Gallmac WMW115 with rocksaw digging attachement, excavation depth was 45 cm. These tests were made for SDEL Company in France. The small job sites were located in Sergy, where Tesmec made different excavation on asphalt at various depths: on sidewalk edge, from one side of the street to the other, on street edge, straight excavations and excavations with curves (particular equipment Gallmac) and for fiber optic cables installations. It isn’t possible to estimate productivity rates because of this variety. The test was important in terms of working conditions in urban areas: Gallmac WMW115 can made also not straight excavations, highlighting its versatility.

WMW115 TRS: DALLE PROVE DI SCAVO EMERGE LA SUA GRANDE VERSATILITÀ Per garantire l’affidabilità delle sue macchine e per migliorarne l’efficienza nell’impiego in diversi contesti e condizioni ambientali, Tesmec effettua periodicamente numerosi test, sia in Italia sia all’estero. I tecnici della divisione Gallmac recentemente hanno valutato il lavoro della Gallmac WMW115 in due diverse conformazioni: con applicazione a catena e con applicazione disco. Nel novembre 2009 sono state effettuate in Inghilterra per la società Breheny, prove di scavo con Gallmac WMW115 con applicazione attrezzatura trencher a catena con lame. I cantieri erano situati lungo l’autostrada e per tutto il periodo di prova, sono state effettuate trincee a bordo autostrada di dimensioni: larghezza scavo 30 cm, profondità 70 cm. Scopo del lavoro la messa a terra di tubazioni in plastica. La prova e’ stata soddisfacente e significativa per il tempo e il tipo lavoro: su un terreno di terra mista, calcare in profondità con aggiunta di radici di alberi e con braccio in estensione all’85%, dovendo superare un guardrail, al massimo del regime motore, la Gallmac ha ottenuto una produttività media di 40 m/h. Da considerare che le condizioni non erano favorevoli. Sempre nel novembre 2009 sono state fatte in Francia per la società Sdel, prove di scavo con G allmac WM W115 c on appli c az i one at trezzatu ra disco scavo alla profondità massima di 45 cm. Questi piccoli cantieri erano tutti situati all’interno della città di Sergy dove sono stati effettuati scavi su asfalto di varie profondità e tipologie: a bordo marciapiede, da lato a lato strada, a bordo strada, scavi diritti e scavi con curve (particolarità dell’attrezzatura in abbinamento con la Gallmac), per la messa a terra di cavi per fibra ottica. A tal ragione non si possono stimare le produttività. La prova è stata significativa per le varie tipologie di lavoro che si possono trovare all’interno dei centri urbani ma soprattutto nel poter effettuare scavi non rettilinei, evidenziando la versatilità della macchina.
