I have been photographing weddings for the past thirteen years. I began my business as a sophomore in college with a studio based out of Lancaster, PA. The next few years I developed my skills working in the field as well as continuing my Bachelor’s Photography studies at Tyler School of Art with a business minor at Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. There I learned sound technical ability, while being stretched conceptually in the fine arts. This training results in cutting-edge images that are unique and timeless. Today, I have photographed over 450 weddings, working with couples not only in the Lancaster and Philadelphia areas but in the surrounding states & around the world, as well.

1. Make sure there is natural light in the room where the bride will be getting ready (window light). This makes a WORLD of difference in your images. I promise!

2. If possible, try to have all bridal details together before the photographer arrives. (Dress, jewelry, shoes, bouquet, garter, veil, etc) This will make the detail shots more efficient.

3. Keep the area near the window free of trash, bags, snacks, etc. This will be where the bride will be putting on her dress. (We don’t need any Aquafina bottles in our bridal portraits:).

4. Allow more time than you think you need to get ready. It’s better to be safe than RUSHED!

5. Relax and have fun. You’re getting MARRIED!!

1. Your session comes standard with two outfits. One outfit is normally on the dressier side and one outfit is more relaxed and casual.

2. Coordinating doesn’t mean “matching”. Wearing the same color in a different shade is actually more ideal than trying to find the EXACT color.

3. If one of you is wearing something with a lot of color and pattern, sometimes it’s best to have the other person wear a neutral.

4. This is just an idea. Take it or leave it! Some couples plan their attire to coordinate with their wedding day so that their Save The Dates match the wedding theme and decor.

5. Don’t over think it!

6. Make sure you are equal when it comes to how formal your attire is. If the partner a is wearing a little black dress…. partner b probably shouldn’t be in shorts and tennis shoes.

7. Don’t be afraid to be yourself and wear something that is unique to you. If you have a unique style, be sure to show it off.

8. If you’re wearing plaid, the bigger the better. Larger plaid photographs better than tiny little checkered patterns. It would be better to have a solid dress shirt than a shirt with teeny tiny patterns. The camera can’t pick those tiny patterns up from far away and that can sometimes result in Chromatic Aberration.

9. Accessorize! Scarves, necklaces, belts….They can add so much to an outfit.

10. Last but not least, wear attire that is flattering to your figure and your skin tone. It seems like common sense but everyone is guilty of breaking this rule. We all know that everyone has certain things that look GREAT on them and certain things that aren’t really made for them. If you don’t like the way you look in something on a day-to-day basis, you’re not going to love it in your images. If you’re self conscious about your legs, don’t wear a mini-skirt. If you’re self-conscious about your arms, it’s probably not smart to wear those strapless or sleavless tops.

Bottom line, make sure you wear something that you’re comfortable in. Sure, we’re going to teach you how to pose in super flattering ways, but you’ll love your images so much more if you wear an outfit that you’re comfortable and CONFIDENT in. Confidence photographs well!

TIPS:

1. Make sure to check when the sunset is before scheduling your ceremony start time. (Send us an email if you need a suggestion)

2. If you are considering a later ceremony and will be left with very little sunlight afterwards, consider doing a first look to minimize the need for light after the ceremony.

You will have the option to add a golden hour or dramatic light portrait session during your reception (depending on light and weather). Once your guests are fed and happy, we will steal you away to top off the day’s images with some EPIC additions.

Help us Help you...

Every photographer has their own style and we want to make sure we capture why you chose US! We have created multiple boards from dozens of weddings for you to create a Mood Board from (you can also pin directly from our blog). This helps us understand the imagery that draws your eye. While our style says the same, we can cater the mood of how we shoot.

Creating a Mood Board is simple:

1. Pick 10-20 images

2. > 80% from our Pinterest Board and Blog

3. < 20% from other Photographers

4. Come up with one sentence each of what draws you to the image

5. Email us the board! (accompanied with the write up from step 4)

We’re not looking to assemble a shot list (trust us, we will take care of all aspects of your day), what we are looking to achieve is what mood you like best.
