Like water, fashion is changing tides, and old rules are being washed away. There are no set rules in fashion anymore; designers don’t follow the fashion calendar, colors are now seasonless, and gender lines are being blurred. Each season we are flooded with different silhouettes, colors, and accessories. We must wave through the ocean of fashion and choose the most impactful items. This Trend report dives deep into the Fall/ Winter 19/20 color palette. We have immersed ourselves in four colorways, Jewels, Brights, Pastels, and Neutrals. All four stories explore the idea of man versus nature and how society is leaving nature behind or fully embracing it. In the Jewel colorway, we examine the synthesize man-made colors not found in nature. For the Bright colorway, we evaluate how people are taking over nature and exploiting it for their own personal gain. For the Pastel colorway, we study how a seemingly peaceful ocean can create a powerful wave of destruction. For The Neutral colorway, we analyze the connection people have with nature and how people always find comfort in earth tones. Fashion is fluid and has no shape because it is constantly changing like water.

Traditionally Jewel colors are found in nature usually from crystals or semi-precious stones. This take on Jewels does not draw inspiration from nature but one from man-made items. This colorway is pushing back against nature and embracing manufactured colors. People are more into technology than nature; spending hours in front of a screen instead of being outside. The blue of a laptop light, the green of a full battery, all found in technology and this colorway. These highly saturated Jewel tones are on neon signs late at night. The bright acid green, teal and purple evokes the feeling of high energy, power, and uniqueness. These colors make a statement, drawing peoples eyes to the wearer. This Jewel colorway will follow the trend of embracing your individuality and the need to stand out in a crowd.

Primary Pool
17
This bright primary tones draws inspiration from construction uniforms and bright warning signs. People are continually building new structures which is decreasing the amount of natural land. The Planet which was once filled with lush green forests has now transformed into a concrete jungle. People take nature and mold it into what they want, for example, a pool. A body of water surrounded by concrete, using one of Earth’s most important natural resources purely for personal gain. This colorway is the juxtaposition of construction colors like bright red, orange and yellow mixed with the natural colors of water.

Beachside Pastels
29
The ocean can be gentle and calming but can also be powerful and dangerous. This colorway explores the natural colors of the ever-changing ocean. The frosted Pastels evoke a feeling of the calm before the storm. Watching the grey storm clouds form over the massive green waves crashing onto the sand waiting for the storm to hit, beautiful yet ominous. The ocean is so powerful that it can wash away whole neighborhoods but gentle enough to have children play in it. This idea of colors that are soft yet powerful will pair well with women’s business wear. Women want to be seen as feminine yet masculine, gentle yet powerful in the workplace.

Sandy Neutrals
41
People have lost touch with nature, but this colorway is trying to bridge the gap. The sandy colors of the beach create the feeling of a calm, cool night walking along the gentle water under the crisp moonlight, while the cool breeze, gently brushes across your skin. This colorway is warm, soft and secure, which lends itself to fall colors especially sweaters. People feel safe in earthy neutrals because it is simple and classic.
