PROFILE
NATASHA LEITH-SMITH FROM LONDON #ZIZZIPEOPLE As the founder and designer of the award-winning jewellery brand Allumer, Natasha Leith-Smith is no stranger to mixing style with business. Her jewellery is featured on the pages of magazines such as Vogue and ELLE, as well as on the bodies of a long list of celebrities and royalty. Zizzi talked with the creative powerhouse about her work and style.
Describe your style. Classy silhouettes, with accents of gold and colourful jewellery and accessories. What do you never leave home without? My mother always told me to never leave the house without lipstick on. What do you usually wear to work? Black is my favourite colour to wear, so I usually wear a black dress. I then brighten it up with some wedges and my favourite Allumer pieces. Best style advice you’ve received? Always accessorise! This is why I choose luxurious and vibrant jewellery to help complete my outfit. Next purchase? A luxurious navy velvet dress that will make me feel chic. What's the key to a successful career? Do what you love, and put in the hours. Creating award winning luxury jewellery is what I always dreamed of doing – and now I’m getting paid for it, whilst making customers smile. What's the most important thing to remember when it comes to your career? Never accept no as an answer. 10
What has been your proudest career moment so far? Winning the Everywoman award. (Everywoman is an annual British award ceremony that celebrates the success of the country’s female entrepreneurs. –ed) How did you overcome your biggest career hurdle? My biggest hurdle was getting people to believe in my ideas, and that my designs could turn into a business. However, I carried on pursuing my plans and didn’t let this get me down, and eventually people saw the success of the brand. What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given? Never accept no as an answer, and always keep pursuing your dreams. You’re a hugely successful businesswoman. What advice would you give to women who want to follow in your footsteps? Learn to be accepted for who you are, and realise you do not have to change yourself to please anyone. What do you know now that you wish you had known when you were younger? To go with your instinct.

Where to stay Located centrally, within walking distance to Chinatown and Covent Garden as well as the theatre district, The Hoxton Hotel in Holborn masters understated elegance and expert service at reasonable rates. The vibrant lobby bar is the perfect point of call before hitting the town.
Where to eat Flat Iron started out as a pop-up restaurant, but now the rustic steakhouse is a permanent fixture in Soho. Here you’ll find delicious servings of beautifully tender meat and fuss-free sides offered in compact yet cosy surroundings. If you’re looking for something more upscale, try Babylon Restaurant at The Roof Gardens in Kensington. Set high above London’s streets, here you can dine with a view of the beautifully manicured themed gardens.
Where to shop Take a trip to London’s historic East End, where Columbia Road’s colourful flower market and vibrant shop fronts offer a something for everyone. Sample traditional British baked goods at Treat or find unique interior treasures at Openhouse. what to see Compact enough to explore on foot, spend a day taking in the city’s iconic landmarks, inspiring museums and royal parks. See the city from above on the London Eye, take a stroll downriver across Tower Bridge or hang out in the beautiful parks dotted around the city.
