Introducing SuperResolution Double the geometric resolution of thermal images recorded via a software/firmware upgrade which provides four times more pixels on each image.

Our new SuperResolution technology takes the resolution of the thermal images recorded with the camera, and subsequently enhances them in the software. The thermal images captured with the resolution of the camera detector are intensified providing greater detail and clarity with truly outstanding images, giving you much more from your camera.

Testo’s SuperResolution Technology, for which a patent is pending, makes use of two wellknown, recognised methods. Firstly, a sequence of several images is saved each time a picture is taken. Secondly, the image quality is improved based on detailed knowledge of the infrared lens characteristics. This is achieved by optimising the imaging properties of the lens by way of calculation.

Testo’s SuperResolution Technology is not an interpolation method where artificial intermediate values are generated without obtaining additional information. Instead true readings are utilised, which can be regarded as comparable to a higher detector resolution. Thus, e.g. from a 160 x 120 pixel image we get a 320 x 240 pixel image, and from a 320 x 240 pixel image we get a 640 x 480 pixel image. The geometric resolution of the SuperResolution thermal image is effectively doubled.

Rolfe’s Heating Ltd based in New Romney, Kent who have been providing quality maintenance and servicing of domestic gas boilers in their area for over 40 years, have recently acquired a Testo 875 Thermal Imaging Camera and now regard the instrument as an essential diagnostic tool.

The power of the Testo 875 was demonstrated recently for one of Rolfe’s customers who was constantly having to top up the water level on their heating system, which is an indication that there is a leak in the system. The heating was switched on and after a short period of time the Testo 875 Thermal Imaging Camera was used to trace the heating system pipework and then to check the various pipework runs for any evident leaks. Very quickly a Hot Spot was identified in the area of the threshold of the doorway from the hall to the lounge which was a good indication for the location of the leak. The Hot Spot was marked with masking tape to locate the point for future reference, when the carpets would be lifted and an inspection hole dug to check this section of the floor for the problem. The marked location proved to be correctly identified and in fact the Hot Spot had identified / located a leak on a Microbore Heating System where the pipes were running approximately 60-70mm down in concrete screed and also beneath a substantial carpet and rubberised underlay. All of which tangibly confirms the thermal sensitivity and suitability of the Testo 875 series for the application of tracing heating system pipework and leaks. Using the Testo 875 Thermal Imager had provided Rolfes Heating with the Technical capability to quickly and easily Visually Trace the heating system pipework and had identified the location of the leak. This therefore provided considerable savings to Rolfes Heating in respect of time and cost and was also beneficial to the customer by providing major savings in terms of cost and period of disruption.

The first-hand success of the Testo Thermal Imaging Camera is summed up by Tom Klokkou the proprietor of Rolfe’s Heating “ I first began to hear of this clever technology when customers mentioned that their floors had been scanned, highlighting anomalies under the floor. Andy McGrath of Testo expertly guided me through the process and the thermal imaging camera has proved to be an excellent investment at an affordable price. The impact on our business has been dramatic in terms of optimising how long we need to spend at a customer and the work involved, whilst allowing us to add more visits in any given period. The NFFF training school has recently started using the Testo 270 Cooking Oil Tester in training courses for fish and chip shops and franchise start-ups. An accurate TPM measurement means that oil can be used until the legal or individually set guideline value is reached.

Saveris Mobile offers monitoring during transportation During transport, probes will transfer and display measurement values and alarms wirelessly to a Cockpit Unit, which is situated in the driver’s cabin. Calibration can be carried out in our laboratory or on site to avoid downtime.
