1. General about the event 24 Hour Off Road is a cross-country rally event held in central Greece, few kilometres from Athens, for the ninth time. The race consists of five selective sections with service after each (except for the last one). The event takes place on 24-25th November, 2012. For European competitors 4 days are enough for coming, racing and return to base. Ships from and to Italy depart every day. Athens Airport is just few kilometres from the start. For foreign competitors scrutineering is held Saturday morning, just before the race. Cross-country rally cars (T1, T2, T3, TH), bikes, quads and normal cars, bikes, quads are both accepted. The total length of the rally is about 1000 kilometres. Racing is continuous for 24 hours. Driving on selective sections is more than 17 hours, about the same as at a 5-6 day event. Start will take place on Saturday at 11 am, finish on Sunday at 11 am. The time of the terrain will consist of numerous types of gravel from small pebbles to rocky terrain. The roads are fast, wide but there are also some difficult muddy paths and twisty mountain roads as well. The track leads from zero altitude to as high as 1500 metres, among the rocky mountains of Central Greece. Competition goes on for day and night. The night of the rally will be one of the longest nights of the year in the area that lasts for 14 hours. Categories CARS 1. Open This category concerns basically FIA T1, T2 and T3 categories as stated in Article 285 (T1), Article 284 (T2) and Article 286 (T3) of FIA regulations. Z1 cars of the Greek Championship are also eligible for this category. Those cars (Z1) are free concerning the mechanical parts and require just roll cage, seats, seat belts, fire extinguisher, helmets and mud flaps. The only requirement is their eligibility to circulate on public roads (lights, turn lights, mirrors etc.). So the Open category is applicable for any car that has the minimum safety precautions. 2. Normal This category concerns basically Z2 cars of the Greek Championship. Those are normal cars, with no need for safety precautions. There are less average speed requirements for these cars. This category is applicable for any car, with any level of mechanical development and any level of safety precautions. Only requirement is the eligibility to circulate on public roads (lights, turn lights, mirrors etc.). This can be considered as a hobby class. 3. Entry This category concerns crews without any previous experience in motorsports. All other regulations are similar to Normal. In this category you can participate also with an SUV, a vehicle without “low gearing, even though you have experience in motorsports. Subaru Forester is considered to be one of those cars.
