24 Hours 4X4 2008 Regulation

Article 2: Definitions 2.1 Total length is less than 1200 kms. 2.2 The course could be different for each group. 2.3 The course will be divided into sections. Article 3: Terms - Briefing: the clerk of the course will brief the competitors. Participation of the competitors is obligatory. - Road Book: a book that describes the course with drawings or map sections. - Sections: Part of the course, between two bivouacs. - Navigation Zone: part of the course where the path cannot be determined precisely. - Suggested Time: time to cover a part of the course. - Maximum Delay Time: maximum time to cover a section. If the competitor delays more, the next time station will be considered as closed for him. - Real Time: The actual time taken to cover a section. - Regrouping: a scheduled halt of the event to regroup the competitors. The time of rest could be different from competitor to competitor. - Dead Time: Time that the event is halted. - Infos: infos are a part of this regulation. Infos are numbered, dated and signed by the organizing committee. Crews have to declare that they took an info by signing a paper. Infos are only written. - Carne de Route: a card were the times will be written by the timekeepers. - Bivouac: please for stop between two parts of the race. The service is free at bivouacs. - Regularity: specified average speed test. This speed for this event cannot be over 50 kms. Those sections will be open to circulation.


- Park Ferme: a place where repairs are not allowed. Article 4: Regulations This event is covered by the following regulations - Greek National Sporting regulation - Greek National Sporting Committee bulletins - This regulation 4.1 Clerk of the course is responsible to apply the regulations. 4.2 Any change will be announced to the competitors by written infos that will be put on the announcement table. Article 5: Vehicles 5.1 Four wheel vehicles that have a valid license permit will be accepted. They have to obey the safety precautions stated by the International Treaty fon Road Driving. 5.2 All vehicles must have at least 3-point harnesses for all the members of the crew and a 2 kilos fire extinguisher. 5.3 Open vehicles must have a roll bar as stated by FIA. If an internal roll cage is fitted, parts closed to the crew must be covered with absorbing material 5.4 Vehicles will be divided into two groups: - Raid - Normal 5.5 All cars must be obliged to the Driving Rules of Greece and have the needed apparatus (lights, mirrors, license plates etc.) that are obligatory for driving on public roads. Article 6: Crew Members 6.1 Definitions a. Participant is the person or company that applied to the event b. Crew are the people that will ride the vehicle during the event. 6.2 Organizing committee can refuse any entry, without stating any reasons for this. 6.3 Crews must have valid driving permits. The organization will issue appropriate sporting permits.


6.4 In the case that the participant is not a part of the crew, the driver is the responsible for the entry during the entire event. 6.5 The crew must be riding the vehicle all the time, during the event, except if stated else. Only injured persons can be carried, except the crew. Article 7 Relations Officer The officer will be distinguished by special sign. He/she will be present at - Scrutineer - Bivouacs - Finish He/she will be responsible to - inform the crews - solve any problems - answer any questions Article 8: Applications 8.1 All participants must fill the application form. 8.2 By signing the application form, the participant and the crew accept this regulation. 8.3 Up to the scrutineering the participant can change the vehicle. 8.4 The application is free of charge for foreign, non Greek, competitors. 8.11 Applications end at 20:00 of 24/11/2008. Article 9: Numbers 9.1 Each car will be given 2 number plates that have their number, the name of the event and the sponsors of the event. 9.2 Those number plates must be put on visible places on both sides of the vehicle and must be there for the entire event. Those numbers are not supposed, by any mean, to cover or replace the license numbers of the vehicle. 9.3 Missing numbers will occur penalties. 9.4 National flags and the names of the crews must be placed at each side of the car, either on the front fender, or the front doors.


Article 10: Starting Order 10.1 The organizer will decide the staring order. 10.2 The crews will start in one minute time intervals.

Article 11: Road Book 11.1 A road book will be given to each crew. This book will have detail description of the route that must be followed. Failure to do so could be punished with disqualification 11.2 It is not allowed to get over 5 kms out of the official route, that is determined by the road book. 11.3 The road book will be given to crews 3 hours before the race. Article 12: road driving 12.1 During the event all crews must follow the Driving Code. Failure to do so will force the following penalties: a. first: 30 minutes penalty b. second: 1 hour penalty c. third: disqualification 12.2 The penalties will be applied if the deviations are issue by the police or an event officer. 12.3 The following will lead to disqualification: a. Towing, pushing or carrying another vehicle b. Blocking the traffic 12.4 Crews must use their seat belts all over the event. Failure to do so will lead to disqualification. 12.5 Crews must report as soon as possible accidents and injuries to the organization. 12.6 Inside towns, cities or villages, the maximum speed is 30 kmh, except it is stated less by the traffic signs. Failure to follow this could occur penalties, even disqualification. Article 13: External Help


13.1 Repairs can be applied anywhere, except the places that is strictly forbidden by this regulation. 13.2 Inside the places where repairs are forbidden, the following penalties will be applied: a. Time control areas: 1 hour penalty b. Section start: 5 hours penalty 13.3 Refueling is permitted only to places that are mentioned on the road book. Refueling places will be almost 150 kms apart. Article 14 Insurance Competitors are insured for accidents against third party. This coverage starts at the start of the event and ends at the finish or when the crew abandons or is disqualified. Service vehicles are not considered participants of the race. Article 15 Advertising 15.1 Advertising is allowed through out the event in the condition: a. It is not against the Greek Laws b. It is not covering the places that are for the numbers c. It is not disturbing the visibility of the crew 15.2 The advertising of the organisation is obligatory 15.3 If the obligatory advertisement is missing, disqualification is possible. Article 16 Time Keeping Leaflet 16.1 The time keeping leaflet is a paper or booklet, where all the times will be recorder. Missing or destroyed leaflet leads to disqualification. 16.2 The crew cannot change anything on the leaflet. Falling to do so leads to disqualification. Any change made by the marshals should have a sign and a stamp by them. 16.3 The crew is responsible to present the leaflet to the marshals at the time keeping control points. 16.4 The leaflet and the vehicle must be simultaneously present at the time keeping control points. Other ways the leaf let should not be presented.


Article 17 Control Zones All the control zones will be clearly mentioned and marked on the road, by means of signs and presence of marshals wearing orange jackets. 17.1 A car must enter the time control zone during the minute before the correct time or at most 59 seconds after it, ie. For 9:58 the car must enter between 9:57:01 and 9:58:59. Crew members can enter before, in order to check the clock. 17.3 It is not allowed to enter a control zone in the opposite direction. 17.4 The crews are responsible for the correct printing of the time on their leaflets. 17.5 Crews must comply with the directions given by the control zone marshals. Article 18 Time Controls 18.1 All time controls will open at least 30 minutes before the schedule arrival of the first competitor and will close 30 minutes after the schedule arrival of the last one, except ordered differently by the clerk of the course. 18.2 The marshals will print or right on the leaflet the precise time the leaflet, the car and the crew members are present to his table. 18.3 The crews must not delay abnormally inside the time control zones. 18.4 The time in time controls is presented as minutes ie. 12:45 18.5 Difference in ideal and real time will lead to penalties as follows: a. Late arrival: 60 seconds per minute b. Arrival in advance: 120 seconds per minute. Coming in advance does not cancel any delay recorded in other sections of the event. 18.6 Crews will be noticed as soon as possible that they have delayed more than the maximum allowed delay. Then they have to stop racing. 18.7 Maximum allowed delay between two time controls is 45 minutes. Total allowed delay during the even is 1 hour and 30 minutes. Article 19 Passing Controls 19.1 Passing controls are to ensure that the crews follow the route. They will be clearly marked on the road, but not mentioned on the road book.


19.2 The passing controls will be open and closed passed on the schedule and the maximum allowed time for this section. 19.3 For each passing control that the crew misses the penalty is 1 hour. Article 20 Special Stages 20.1 During the special stages the crews must drive accordingly with the average speed that has been given for this stage. 20.2 Difference in ideal and real time will lead to penalties as follows: a. Late arrival: 60 seconds per minute b. Arrival in advance: 600 seconds per minute. Coming in advance does not cancel any delay recorded in other sections of the event. 20.3 During the entire event and especially during the special stages all crew members must wear safety seat belts. Falling to do so leads to disqualification. The use of helmets is suggested and obligatory for vehicles with roll cages. 20.4 Crews must not drive in direction opposite to the indicated one during the special stages. 20.5 The start and the end of the special stages will not be marked or indicated by any mean. 20.6 External help or service is not allowed during the special stages, except if given by the organization or other competitors. 20.7 In the rare event that a special stage is canceled, all the crews after the last that finished the stage normally, will get the time of this last crew. Exceptions can be applied by the clerk of the course. The normal category has no special stages. Article 21 Regrouping 21.1 Regrouping is for cancelling the time gaps due to abandons and time delays. 21.2 Servicing is not allowed during regrouping. The crews will be informed about the time they will live the regrouping area and then they have to leave the vehicle. The starting order will be the same as the arrival order at the regrouping area.


21.3 In case of emergency the event could be stopped at any point. The vehicles could be transferred in convoy to a point where the event can be continued or the event could be considered as finished at the point it was stopped. Article 22 Signs of Control Points Control points will be marked clearly on the road by the means of signs and/or special jackets for the marschals. Article 23 Parc Fermes 23.1 At points that are declared as parc fermes no servicing or refueling is allowed. Towing by another competitor is allowed, causing a 5 minute penalty to the competitor that is towed. 23.2 If a vehicle is badly damaged, the delegates could ask its repair, even in the parc ferme area. The time this repair lasts will lead to an equal time penalty. 23.3 The crew can perform the following activities inside a parc ferme without penalty: - changing one or two tyres - replace a broken windshield Those repairs must be done before the starting time of the next section, else the delay will be added as time penalty. 23.4 Crews must leave the parc fermes as soon as they park their vehicle. After this they cannot re-ender the place. 23.5 Crews can re-ender parc fermes 10 minutes before their start time. 23.6 External battery can be used to start the vehicle, but it cannot be carried by the vehicle after this. Article 24 Administrative check and technical inspection 24.1 All vehicles must be present at the administrative check. For foreign – non Greek – competitors the check will occur 3 hours before the event start, at the starting point. 24.2 Administrative check refers to: - Driving licenses - Vehicle registration 24.3 The crews that have finished the administrative check could go on with the technical inspection of the vehicle, that will take place at the same place. The technical inspection refers to:


- Safety systems (belts etc) - Equipment for legal road use (lights etc.) 24.4 Vehicles failing the technical inspection could not start the race. 24.5 Technical inspection can be performed all over the event. Article 25 Appeals 25.1 Appeals must be according to the FIA/ELPA standards. 25.2 Appeals are given to the clerk of the course, together with a fee of 600 euros. If they are not accepted, the fee is not returned. Article 26 Results - Classification 26.1 The clerk of the course is the only responsible for the results and the timing. 26.2 Final results will be presented as time – addition of all the penalties. 26.3 The crew with less penalties will be declared first of the class and/or group, the next will declared second etc. 26.4 In the rare case of two crews having the same score, the crew with the smallest penalty at the first section will be the winner. If this could not solve the case, the second section will be taken into account etc. If this is not enough, a special task will decide who is the winner. 26.5 The results must be published at most 3 hours after the finish. Article 27 Penalties (see the table) Article 28 Trophies 28.1 Classes 1st place: two cups 2nd place: two cups 3rd place: two cups 28.2 There will be a different classification for each class. 28.3 There will be two classes a. Raid b. Normal


5 Vehicles must start the event in order to count a class. Article 29 Price Giving Ceremony The price giving ceremony will take at the finish of the race just after the results become finalized.
